Interesting. I myself was wondering about Clarkrange. They have what 8 titles but I'm not sure how many of the 90 years they've been a school they've had girls basketball but in Single A you establish a program like that and you can get 25 30 win seasons in a hurry. As far as Bradleys being a state record it might also be a national one or close to it.

Here Riverdale is better than both Bradley and Cumberland county. Well look I just said it. I guess you can say that. Seriously. They are playing in the TSSAA tourney format. Not the Coacht Rankings tourney. They do have a common opponent with Cumberland. Riverdale won by more, it means Zero. Cumberland may not of been at full strength. But I don't see the match ups where Cumberland beats them either. To me Cumberland best shot against them is a very uptempo game and they shoot the lights out and Riverdale overlooks them. I've stated why I think Bradley will come up short already. The game to watch might be the region game between Bradley and Cumberland if both are full strength. I know Bradley has improved and the girl from Clarksville helps them a lot but Riverdale is the defending state Champs. Period ,until they lose they are the best right now in the state. Can they lose. Yep. But lets hear the matchup how Bradley beats Riverdale head to head. You've got me curious. I've seen them both. Only advantage is their size. So how will they get them in a extremely slow game with Howard using her size inside? Or McCree or the other post players?

If Cumberland is healthy they win this district and if they stay out of foul trouble they give Bradley a game in the region finals.

To each their own in the banners. I understand Riverdale doing it they are expecting to fill it up with more. Who knows maybe they rehang the others. Bradleys gym , Bradleys choice. They like to honor their past. Nothing wrong other that. You also see Baseball and wrestling banners there. Plus personal jerseys. I like that. I like history. I'm not a fan of the player movement that goes on in today's high school sports but seems to be the norm. Those banners represent a simpler time and more community wide pride that Bradley county used to be about. The place use to have more seats and I've seen it packed and them standing in the halls for district games. The crowds are smaller now and the community has grown. Some have put such an important necessity on winning and not the kids it hurts the purity of the game in my opinion. Still a great place to live. We had tornados here a few years ago. Several people lost their lives and hundreds of homes were destroyed and damaged. That first weekend the entire community and surrounding counties came out in force. Clearing debri , serving meals cutting down trees. Backhoes chainsaws. Etc. literally everywhere you went people where there working no body asked for payment. Churches opened their doors. Resturaunts provided food. Local chains donated water and other items. They didn't wait around on federal aide. When it did come it wasn't needed. I guess that's why the banners still hang. Some of those people on those teams still live here and make it a pretty good place to live. They don't just see the banners. They see the people who they represent.

Probably deserved at least one. But the district has been declining the last decade in girls bball some of that is because soccer and volleyball are taking away players and many kids only play one sport. I'm not saying Bradley isn't good this year they are but that trap defense they play isn't going to be very affective against Riverdale. Have you seen the Hayes girl ? She can dribble down court faster than most can run. You can't press them. They have 5 girls that can all handle the ball and they all share it. Their bench would come in second in Bradleys district. They have more fouls to give than Bradley. And I've never been to the state tourney where the whistles weren't working on teams that trap at half court. Ever. They look for the reach. That means Bradley has to either play a matchup zone against them in the half court or man to man. So who's going to stop their guards and shooters and they can all shoot and handle the ball. They play pretty good defense themselves. You score on them and the ball is inbounded and going down the court so you have to get back on defense. I've seen Bradley they have 3 girls that are as fast most of the Riverdale team. None zero has the game speed as Hayes you put two girls on her and another trying to play the passing lane you lose by 20. Bradley has to shoot the lights out from 3 and give up less than 5 offensive boards. And keep their 5 best on the floor the whole game. I just don't see it. They play Riverdale they lose by 15 to 30. Riverdale is the real deal. I hope I'm wrong. Seriously like to eat crow on this. Mostly I just don't think for 4 periods they can play with them.

I thought she was also cause they mentioned her as a freshman last year at the state tourney but I was reading an article that mistaking said she was a junior. I knew there was a freshman but wasn't aware of the 7th grader. Is she going to be like the others ? Hope so. Fun to watch.

I agree with some of this but they played Shelbyville in the state finals in the 90s. Amy Geren won the MVP on the losing team. When it switched to 5 on 5 Jim Smiddy never won another game in the state tourney. Paul Cretton was the coach when then lost to Shelbyville. And I don't consider any of the teams from the last 8 years any of their best teams. They had a group of 7 seniors in the 80s was pretty good. Lost to Memphis Melrose. The afore mentioned Amy Geren and Paige Redman teams were pretty good but the state was loaded on the 3a level then. Shelbyville,White County and Oak Ridge where always great. I think another coach might have one at least one more but Smiddy never really adjusted to 5 on 5 at that level. And I remember going to Riverdale and Oakland and watching them beat both. Yeah it's ancient history but it happened. Personally I like watching Riverdale team the few times I've seen them the last two years. They are good one of the best I've seen ever in the 40 plus years I've seen in TN. I still think Rick Insell had at least two teams better. But he was a great coach in big games.

The Whittington girl is a junior already committed to MTSU another junior is Brenae Alexander who is just a handful of points short of 1000 herself. So to say the sister will be gone next year is a stretch. Maybe if they move. Who have they beat? Look at their schedule they play some of the toughest teams in Georgia and Kentucky and Indiana I believe. Or Pennsylvania. I hope you're right and Bradley can pull it out but I just don't see it and I've seen them both play.

Who has the best teams with players who actually came up in their community. Middle school high school. No transferrs.

I'm not following you here. Does that mean that the teams who did make it have more or less "firepower"? CAuse if they don't have as much then how did they beat them and if they have more then doesn't that mean Beech has less? Just wondering.
