  1. I know that a coach from Nettleton, Arkansas, I think his name is Clint Wilson, accepted the position and then resigned two or three days later.
  2. Does anyone know what is going on with White Station (Memphis) High School Spartan Football? They were the first school to announce an opening at HFC and they still do not have a head coach in place. It wasn't that long ago that WSHS was the 6A State Champions in football.
  3. For the record, this information was told to me by someone connected to the TSSAA. This was much more than rumor, but I doubt anything will happen. The whole state knows Memphis is outlaw and everyone recruits.
  4. A player CANNOT live with a coach and be eligible. Conveniently, he happens to be a good player...shocker. They do have kids that were starters at other schools playing for them. WS and CHS definitely turned them in for those kids, there is no question. The OL has played at THREE different schools in three years. How can he possibly be eligible? Especially, coming from private to public. The basketball kid absolutely was not enrolled at Cordova, was NOT eligible and the principal absolutely told him to NOT play the said player. Believe what you want. Color has nothing to do with it. Right and wrong, just play with your kids, don't contact other kids, which they did last summer trying to get the three best player from Bartlett to transfer for football.
  5. Apparently, Cordova High School has been turned in by White Station, Collierville, Bartlett, Germantown, and St. Benedict for illegal players. The starting offensive tackle played for Germantown as a freshman, St. Benedict as a sophomore, and now he is a starter for Cordova. How can a kid play at three different schools in three years and be eligible? CHS also has two kids who were starters for White Station last year and they are both starting for Cordova, plus one of those kids is LIVING with an assistant coach so he will be in the district. Another starter from Collierville is currently playing for Cordova as well. Two starters from last years Bartlett Panthers have also transferred to Cordova and are contributing. According to multiple sources, there might be as many as 10 to 12 kids playing for Cordova who are not eligible or at least people are wondering how they could possibly be eligible. I've always been under the impression that a player could not live with a coach and be eligible, but I guess his mother doesn't care. I'm sure the Cordova staff probably takes in all kinds of kids who need a place to stay. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that these kids can ball out the frame!!! Does anyone do things the right way anymore or are all these "coaches" unable to develop kids so they need to recruit talent in order to win! Don't even get me started about the basketball program. Scales is as shady as they come. He has been picking up kids from all over the city and bringing them to school ever since he got to Cordova. The principal told him to not play a kid in the state championship last year, but he did anyway, even though he knew the kid wasn't even enrolled at CHS. So tired of all the cheating in Memphis, the whole city is outlaw, including precious whitehaven, ridgeway, white station, and all the other "power programs."
  6. I have always been amazed at how Whitehaven fans seem to bash other programs. They seem to forget that they have only won one state championship and it took them FOREVER to finally do it. I'd say they have been one of the most UNDERACHIEVING programs in the state. After all, they consistently have 15 or so kids sign college scholarships, most to D1 or D1-AA programs and yet they usually got knocked out in the quarter final rounds if not sooner. They have been out coached year after year, even though they have better talent. One more thing, Central High defeats Whitehaven this season. Coach Crutchfield and the Warriors will be up for the challenge.
  7. How can a guy that "does know much football" get the head football coach job? Secondly, if he really said that, why would he believe he actually deserves to be the head coach? I know for a fact that several parents and kids really wanted an assistant coach named Curtis or Kurtis and he has been an assistant coach at some good programs and paid his dues. If the players were laughing at the new coach already, it sounds like they could be in trouble. It has to make those assistant coaches wonder what they have done wrong, if a coach that doesn't know much about football gets hired as the head coach. I'm not sure I could stick around and work for someone that wants to be the head coach but doesn't have the ability or skills to do the job. Plus, how can an assistant principal, head softball coach and grounds/field maintenance (grass cutter) have time to do all those things and be the head football coach. Something will suffer and I'm betting its football.
  8. Not even mighty Maryville could handle Ensworth. I'm sure Ensworth would be happy to schedule Maryville, they have a hard enough time finding games. Maybe some years the public schools are better, but in recent years the top privates are clearly stronger teams.
  9. No one wants to play Ensworth! Be serious! I doubt Brentwood, McCallie, Baylor, MBA, Father Ryan, MUS or anyone else wants to play Ensworth. There isn't a team in the state that would challenge them on a regular basis.
  10. I don't know if it is true or not, but if they do remove their head coaches there are several options in the area. Robbie Donaldson (FACS) would probably love the Briarcrest job. What about the staff at MUS? They have three or four guys that could be interested--at least in Briarcrest--Chubb (DC), Finney (OC), Rodgers (DB) and McKay (WR). Everyone knows Rodgers can recruit the athletes. McKay has a couple of young sons that could help most teams. Finney is an outstanding coach with head coaching experience and Chubb is a former college coach. CBHS might be rethinking their decision last year to remove Lacastro, they might be looking again at seasons end.

  13. At least with private schools you are allowed to live anywhere you want and attend those schools. These public schools are using bogus addresses, telling parents how to get around the rules and lying about where kids really live. That is just wrong! The private school deal is another discussion all together. They are a serious problem as well.
  14. Coach Crutchfield is now at Central High School. Still, why did Bartlett High School hire Bryan Brewer? How can the possibly justify that decision?
  15. Well, Coach Crutchfield left Wooddale months ago. Coach White interviewed at Cordova, I know this for a fact, the athletic director there told me that. So maybe you aren't as in the "know" as you think.
  16. An assistant coach, an administrator and a parent confirmed all of these names except for Wayne Randall and Randy White. Supposedly, the other two applied as well according to an outsider. There were other names as well, but those were a few that surprised me. A couple of these coaches would not deny or confirm their interest.
  17. Response to austinidoljr. Actually, my name is Mark, I played for coach in 1993-95, but thanks for playing.
  18. Just a few of the names that applied and did NOT even receive an interview: Wayne Randall Jeff McFerran Randy White Crutchfield (Wooddale and former Bartlett player) Alex Cain (Forrest City, Ark. and former Bartlett player) Tom NeSmith Jason Curtis (Arlington assistant)
  19. Well, since I played for the man I think I would know much more about the situation than you or your coaching contacts (at another school). Ask any of his players! How can a coach at another school know anything about what Coach D does in regards to recruiting or handling his players? For the record: 2007-15 signees, 2008-18 signees, 2009-11 signees and 2010-9 signees Do your own research and check Murphy Fair's Tennessee High School Football Magazine. I am curious though, exactly how many signees did your hard working coaches produce? Pick a year, any year.
  20. Yep! He must be a real a******! That guy has had three former players make it to the NFL (and they are still there), he has helped over 120 of his players at Cordova receive scholarships in 10 or 11 years (the most in the state folks) and he busted his tail at a school that has had as much bad publicity, more changes in administration than any school in Shelby County in the last 7 years, kids being recruited to private schools for scholarships, assistant coaches stealing from the program, assistant coaches stabbing him in the back because they want to be the boss (but not do any work), pay other sports bills, fund raise year round, he even has one assistant coach that claims to have been offered jobs all over the country and state and tells everyone he will not be back next season and when he replaces that coach he suddenly becomes angry that he was replaced (can't imagine why he would try to replace a coach that was already leaving, but I guess that coach forgot he had told the world he was going someplace else)and everyone at that school wonders why he keeps his distance and comes across like an a******. Is there any doubt? How friendly would any of you be? Walk a mile in his shoes before you judge. You are probably asking how I know all of this. I use to play with him and while I will admit he is moody and can be distant at times, but he also works his tail off, cares deeply for his players, does EVERYTHING in his power to find college opportunities for his players, tries to develop us as young men and not just players, been the only dad some of his players have ever known, given money out of his own pocket to help some players who were struggling financially, and most importantly, was the one person any of us could always count on! Ask his players if they are happy to see him leave! Or you can listen to one former assistant coach that was let go and another one that should have never been hired.
