  1. Good take noonesfool. I think Woosley changing things up at half by double teaming Cowan really helped. He went for 17 in the first half and 6 in the 2nd after he did that. Thompson took over and one of the craziest dunks I've seen on a 6'4 guy for carter. Whenever Greeneville needed something Thompson delivered https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1151697896335979
  2. Maybe they shot better against you all but I watched some of the LC and Tullahoma game and LC was be very scrappy and disrupting Tullahoma by being active and getting their hands in the way. I remember last week that other than Cobb no one else really did to much against Tullahoma. You might be right that loss might have waken some of your players up but I also think Heritage was a little over rated and lost games to more athletic teams all year. I think Fulton's athleticism would have gave Heritage the same fits it did early in the season seeing both teams play before. I think it will come down to match up's and who's best player can take over a game at State.
  3. Yes I’m going to compare a game early in the season when both team have improved from that point. I can also say that LC played better against Tullahoma (at home) than Upperman did in neutral site game against them. (What’s your argument to that point since they were one game apart? I would love to hear it.). My point was it’s wide open in 3a it looks like and about match ups and who is going to contain each team top player the most like my original post. Congrats on your substate win but LC going into Tullahoma and making them win by 5 just showed that there isn’t that much difference in at least half the bracket (I don’t know about the 4 teams coming out of the west)
  4. Looks like 3a is wide open after watching some of tonight’s games. You have Upperman win by 18 against Heritage (a team Fulton beat by 24) that beat LC by 43 who made Tullahoma hold on at home 49-44. You had Fulton hold on against Unicoi 49-46 a team Greeneville beat by 18 but had to hold on to beat Carter by 4. We will see who’s top player can take over and who can limit the other teams top player.
  5. What? 🤨. So you just said that scheduling teams like Knox Webb, Bearden, Alcoa, and Science Hill didn’t have any bearing on a teams path to the state tournament? (They were also all after Christmas) I would say the complete opposite about playing tougher competition has helped Greeneville get ready for a state tournament run and the reason they beat Tennessee high the way they did who is a legit good team. I think you might not be giving the teams Greeneville has played the last 2 games any credit sorta like how a lot of people didn’t think Tullahoma had a chance against Upperman. I think some people look at Stone beating Greeneville by 9 early in the year as them not being that great but don’t realize that Greeneville was without 3 starters and 3 other guys that rotate in that were still in football. I guess we will see how good each team is really soon…..
  6. Go look at their schedule before you try to say they have played no one. They have arguably the toughest 3a schedule out there. Lost by 1 to the Division 2 AA Champs (don’t know if you watched their championship game or not and ranked as a top 50 team in the nation). They have played Knox Webb, Bearden, Alcoa, Science Hill (beat them twice and playing in the substate), Milton Ga, and Tennessee High isn’t a bad team either. Yea Greeneville’s conference isn’t tough but to say they have played no one is asinine if you take the time to look who they have played out of conference.
  7. It’s going to be Memphis vs Knoxville for the finals with Briarcrest vs Knox Webb. Briarcrest won in a nail biter and Knox Webb cruised winning by 18. Knox Webb only has 1 senior so if no one transfers if you don’t get them this year I doubt you get them next year.
  8. You’re right Whitehaven is top notch and the really only comparison to gage the East vs West this year was Bartlett who was beaten in OT twice by Whitehaven. Bartlett put it to Maryville in the 3rd game of the season (definitely not the same Maryville team that is playing right now) and Knox Webb beat Bartlett by 9 at The Classic tournament. I think the East can compete at the State Tournament but will have to mistake free basketball
  9. I don’t know where you have been but NIL is already here. Alcoa has its own NIL collective. I also know other individuals that have NIL deals
  10. Really good player from what I've seen. Use to play at Elizabethton before she transferred to Unaka. https://x.com/shields423?lang=en
  11. Yea Alcoa, Bearden, and Webb definitely have some athletes. (All three really good teams with Webb Arguable the best in any classification). Alcoa is in the hunt for a state championship along with Webb and Bearden got put out by Oak Ridge who is a very good team and will be at the Glass House
  12. Carter is a pretty good team this year. I think Greeneville has the athletes to match their athleticism with 3 of our starters being starters in FB. Greeneville starters go 6'3, 6'2, 6'1, 5'10, and Thompson at 6'8. What puts a lot of stress on teams is that Thompson is comfortable with the ball in his hand on the ball anywhere on the floor. If you guard him to close he will go by you, if you guard him to far away he will drop a 3 on you. Greeneville has multiple kids that can knock down three's too if you crash down on him like you saw last night.
  13. He had 34 tonight which puts him at 2,132
  14. Greeneville wins 74-61. Trey goes for over 30 and 10 rebounds. Looked like Tennessee High was trying to do the ole hack a Shaq on Trey but might have been what lit more of a fire under him. (Never seen as many whistle’s from a referee crew in my life). Trey becomes Greeneville’s all time leading scorer as a Junior passing Gillespie who is the starting PG for Maryland. Brown for Tennessee High is a great player!
  15. A booster club can pay coaches a supplement but it has to be go through the School Board for approval. They also collected money from their Tennessee high school football players but without accounting it as a student activity fund. The Bulldogs’ club officers charged $400 per student in July 2023 and $500 a year later. The club also placed the money into their account, instead of accounting for the collection before depositing it into the school’s account. Bearden’s booster club also made unaccounted and questionable disbursements worth at least $13,676. That amount covered food, gift cards, and supplies that didn’t have proper documentation. A club officer also charged $64 on a club card for personal items. These concerns led Tennessee’s Comptroller of the Treasury to declare Bearden’s several deficiencies. In addition to failing to keep proper records, Bearden’s club officers did not implement ample segregation of duties, with one person having exclusive control of financial duties. The problem was how it was never reported and basically being given under the table without approval from the School Board. When the state gets involved your cooked at that point.
  16. I can only speak on my time with him when I coached at LC and didn't see that happen there. Please do tell of these nicknames?
  17. I coached under Wilhite as a LB Coach when he was the DC at Lenoir City his first go around with Zeller. He is a good defensive minded coach and all the players liked him. (A lot of energy but loves the kids). I think he will do good things at Greenback and can get them competitive again especially if he keeps the kids at Greenback
  18. Coach Watts does a great job has had success as a player and a College Coach before coming back to her hometown Greeneville. A lot of people didn't think they would make it last year with who all they lost but she always has the girls ready late in the year and a tough out
  19. I would say Greeneville is a Dark Horse just as much as NV if you look at who they have lost too. They lost to Cocke County by 3 in the middle of the month when NV has lost by 10 or more twice this month to them. That’s been Greenevilles only loss since Jan 13th to Morristown East who won their Conference. They are playing well to pull an upset like they did against Crockett in the Regionals and NV in the Substate Last year. They have been the last 3 years to state so know what it takes to get there
  20. I looked at who they played before I commented and still don’t see them as a solid team. Average sure but not what I would call Solid. EN was their only close game of the teams you just mentioned and got beat handily by the others. What was up losing to a 4-6 White House team or Wayne County by 2 scores who finished 4th in their 1a conference? Me and you have a different definition of what a Solid team looks like
  21. No dog in the fight but did you really just say Liberty Creek was a Solid team? I wouldn’t call a team with a losing record solid….
  22. Having a football period is not why our education is so bad. I could argue that football period teaches you more life lessons about perseverance, how to win at life, and how to get back up when you get knocked down than any class will in high school. I learned a lot more having football period then I did it over half my classes in high school that I still apply today and didn’t take away from my education or my ACT score and going to UT. Heck the school I graduated from had 25 kids score over a 30 on the ACT this past year and two were All conference Football players and we have had a football period since 2007. (We are one of the top public school systems in the state and also have a great athletic programs no matter the sport). It comes down to kids applying themselves in school and at home (parents have a lot to do with this and not all on teachers). Academics and Athletics should complement each other when it comes to student athletes at any school
  23. A Short Highlight Film for Trey Thompson so far this season. Hope he goes to Tennessee because he can stretch the Floor for a 6'8 G/F. https://www.hudl.com/video/2/104699/67ab3868184b3830cb92ad22
  24. Greeneville has had the same head Coach in Brad Woolsey since 2010 and he was the assistant coach under Bill Duncan starting in 2000 and played for Greeneville and Carson Newman. He is a great coach, great teacher, great mentor, great Athletic director, and a great Godly Man. Under Woosley Greeneville has been to State 4 times and always won a game there and two championships. (Went 3 times as an assistant under Duncan when Greenevile played up in the largest Classification) Greeneville is always one of the best teams in NE Tennessee year after year.
  25. Good Stuff Coach! Sounds like a heck of an athlete and must have been being in the Greeneville Sports Hall of Fame. Just a little before my time to see highlights of him like I could Marty
