  1. Copeland had a real off night throwing in the Rhea County game. Fortunately, his feet were working just fine. He settled down some in the second half, but was really off target in the first half. Had some route-running issues that didn't help, but he just wasn't sharp. Everybody's gonna have one of those games from time to time.
  2. Definitely a game worth the price of admission! The Blaze crowd was small, but they did make some noise!
  3. 23-21 Bradley. Blackman missed a 42 yard field goal as time ran out.
  4. CBRF: Everything comes down to context and timing. The refs don't make the rules, but they are charged with enforcing them. And it has been my experience that routs are sometimes the games where things get ugly before the end. If they were recognizing that trend, there may have been a bigger focus on keeping the smack talk under control so actions didn't end up out of control.
  5. That is taunting. Prohibited by rule. If he's dumb enough to taunt an opponent in ear-shot of an official, he's dumb enough to eat the flag.
  6. Way to early. Some of us haven't even had but one region game yet.
  7. It will be interesting to see which Bradley team shows up: the functional team from Polk and Soddy, or the dysfunctional team from Baylor and East Hamilton? (Not meaning to take away from the performance of either Baylor or EH, but in neither game did the Bears mount much resistance to the fine efforts of the opponents)
  8. TSSAA does have a setup for this. I was watching parts of 3 different games (Baylor, Polk County, and Cleveland) online last night. But you have to have schools with the resources and desire to broadcast the games for them to be available. You can't just wave your hand, declare that there is a system, and have every school on the air.
  9. Positive progress is always relative. Compared to where they have been in recent years, winning the games they "ought to" win is a giant step forward for the Mustangs. For a depressed program, finding a degree of consistency and success is a very positive improvement that can do nothing but help a team when it does get to the more challenging part of the schedule.
  10. I've been involved with football in four states. I don't think I have ever been to a stadium like Bradley's. Very few schools have that equal capacity on both sides of the field like we do. Oh, and we definitely do appreciate the good EH crowd. I know we gave you guys plenty of business last year out at your place.
  11. The Bears appear to have decided to only play every other game this season. Can't figure out what the bye week will do to the pattern...
  12. For what it's worth, in Bradley County, county tax money does go to the Cleveland city system. There is a formula of some sort in place for it.
  13. Parking is pretty good - it can get pretty crowded with the Cleveland, Polk and Walker Valley games, but most others are fine. Not much right by the field, but a medium paved lot in front of the gym, a large paved lot on the north side of the school, and overflow in the grass in front of the field. First home game this year; don't know how the crowd will be. Shoot for an hour before game time to allow for traffic getting into the campus. Per vehicle parking charge as you come in ($3, I think).
  14. Newspaper says he is doubtful. Coach wants to give extra time for the high ankle sprain to recover. And on the access question above, neither Baylor nor Soddy does traffic flow any favors.
  15. In Region 5, I'll be surprised if Walker Valley doesn't go to 6A.
  16. Playing against a team like Baylor, you have be at your best, and get some breaks. Bradley was definitely not at their best. Too many mistakes, too much lack of focus. Could easily have been much uglier.
  17. The six way scrimmage on Sat. Aug. 4th, will start at 6:00. The teams that will be participating are McMinn Central, Hardin Valley, Brainerd, Soddy Daisy, and South Pittsburg. From the Bradley football website.
  18. No problem. I just have a warped sense of humor.
  19. I knew the answer to that, but I'm afraid I forgot it.
  20. Cain was banged up from the previous outing (ribs; tackled in a no-pads scrimmage).
  21. I frequent HS football forums for two other states. Everybody says the same thing about their own state association. As Yoda would say, there is no worst. There is no best. It is what it is.
  22. Saw in yesterday's paper where a group is looking to raise funds to put turf in at Cleveland. May be an uphill battle in today's economy, but they got the board's okay to try. I wish them well!
  23. I guess McMinn County dropped off the map? Seems a glaring omission from the piece, seeing as how they were district champs last year.
  24. It will be interesting to see what plays out with the proposed re-districting for the East Hamilton and Ooltewah area. As in, how quickly it will happen, and who ends up where.
  25. Newspaper quoted officials as saying they won't really start the process until after Thanksgiving.
