  1. idk. yes we made plenty of mistakes. but whats worse is so did henry county. they had several turnovers themselves and more penalties and they still boat raced us. i think it was as much a tale of them dominating the line of scrimmage and controlling the field position with there kicking game as it was our blunders. but thats just my opinion. Gallatin has alot of work to do...
  2. i agree the district is kind of underwhelming this year. hhs should win it. hillsboro has enough talent to keep it interesting. Next weeks game will be interesting... beech and gallatin remain ??? station camp...oh station camp...where do i begin. that has to be the most disheartening way to lose a game. Especially when ur staring 0-4 in the face. there was still hope for there season at 0-3. now im not so sure. 0-4 is really hard to recover from...
  3. thats understandable. just seems like henry co would be a job that could attract some names. but i agree its hard to blame them for going this route. best of luck until game 4!
  4. wow!!! i did not know henry county had a new coach. did they even have a coaching search?? im really looking forward to our matchup this year. i dont think gallatin and hc have ever played in the regular season before.
  5. looking forward to the upcoming season. gallatin should be right in the thick of things. at least in the top 4 for a playoff spot. beech hville and hillsboro will all be tough outs tho.
  6. oakland is my pick to take the 6A crown this year. so much talent and experience with that bunch. im still not ready to just hand the gold to beech this year. 16 starters from last season gone, including at least 5 who will play on saturdays. very hard to replace all of that. that might be why they plan on playing hurd both ways more often this year. they'll still probably run my green wave out of the stadium though...lol.
  7. i think we will probably be down again this year, but im not ready to call for anyone's head just yet, because i realize that downturns happen. we have some very talented underclassmen getting ready to come up through the ranks, so things in 2014 and beyond look much brighter. be patient!!! there is a ton of winning experience on the current staff, and if they weather the current storm, they will be fine going forward.
  8. i heard the oakland/beech scrimmage was 35-14 in favor of oakland. not sure about wc and lebanon.
  9. i think it should factor in at least somewhat, but i do agree that there are more factors at play when talking about best program. i understand the difference between better "program" and better "team", but take a closer look at what we're actually comparing. if mj was a 6a program that lost in the 1st or 2nd round every year, i could see more of an argument. but the truth is, mj is competing with the likes of 6a memphis, maryville, and rutherford county for shots at titles, all of whom have excellent programs that are on an at least even level with mt. juliet, while fc was competing against the likes of dresden and adamsville for titles, neither of whom are anywhere near being on an even level with fc. because of that, i don't think fc's accomplishments the last two years are very much, if any more impressive than mj's two semifinal appearances in that same time frame.
  10. last two years mj has played for a shot at the 6a championship game bud.
  11. friendship won a couple of state titles as a private in 2a. they lost to the 1a champion last season. mj has gone to two consecutive 6a semifinals playing on an even slate with the other schools. the answer is mt. juliet. they play against much stiffer competition and have still come to the brink of a championship in the state's largest class. this shouldn't even be a comparison in my opinion. no offense to fc, they've been impressive as of late, but seriously, who would worry you more if you saw them on your schedule?
  12. how is gallatin looking in practice so far (numbers, size, speed, etc.)? haven't been able to make it over yet.
  13. semifinal teams: maryville, oakland..... whitehaven, mt. juliet final two: mt. juliet and oakland state champ: oakland
  14. oh, my apologies. for some reason i was thinking they moved down.
  15. never been a fan of these kinds of rankings. i just dont think they're needed in a sport that has playoffs, but i guess they make for good offseason chatter. as for my opinion, i'll say that beech is the odds on favorite to repeat. their biggest threat will probably come from the west, whether that be ridgeway or henry county, both of whom are loaded. then you have programs like independence, columbia, and knox west who will probably be good but still have some question marks. after that there really are a ton of unknowns.
  16. 1. beech/mount juliet 2. beech/mount juliet 3. hendersonville 4. wilson central 5. gallatin 6. station camp 7. lebanon 8. portland
  17. agreed completely. i didn't understand it his sophomore year and i didn't understand it last year.
  18. no way you seriously believe that. indy has plenty of talent and upgraded the head coaching position big time (no disrespect to dyson). and if memory serves me correctly, henry county absolutely drilled you guys on your home field a couple of years ago, and you didn't even come close to mercy ruling them last year. and by many accounts, that was one of the weakest teams they have fielded in years. you might beat both of them, but i highly doubt you're gonna mercy rule either.
  19. looks like the bucs are gonna be really hard to beat yet again. not much of a surprise there lol
  20. i thought we looked pretty dang good myself. the boys went after it hard. and from everything i've heard, clarksville will probably be one of the best teams in their district after henry county. they may have just used it as a roster evaluation, but its still an encouraging performance for the wave in my opinion.
  21. i agree that maryville and oakland would more than likely be a semifinal matchup. as far as the west bracket goes, it looks like the usual suspects to me (right now). whitehaven or white station against mt. juliet for the other semifinal. idk what williamson county is offering this year, but mt. juliet will be tough as always, and until one of these suburban memphis teams like brighton or arlington can finally break the mold and beat one of the inner city memphis powers, then you've gotta like either whitehaven's or white station's chances of going back to the semifinals.
  22. thats what i was thinkin. i dont see 7 or 8 wins, but i do think we could upset a team or two along with beating some of the easier opponents on the schedule. really just a matter of how the team comes together after last season and whether the coaches can get the most out of this group. the jury is still out on this staff (to me), but im optimistic that if they can weather the current storm then the future looks pretty bright.

  24. i think we will be better this year. i could see us possibly winning 5 or 6 games and sneaking into the playoffs. its just hard for me to see the wave being that bad two years in a row.
