  1. It's a free read on Smithey's website. https://www.5starpreps.com/articles/free-read-thursday-statement-from-clinton-head-football-coach-randy-mckamey/
  2. That's a very good point. I should have said that there's not a ton of parity in the region, because as you said, the top three teams are very strong. After that, it falls off a cliff pretty sharply. I think you're correct on calling SC as the 4th playoff team, as well.
  3. Still think that Lebanon has a good chance in this one. Those 6 turnovers that MJ committed had a lot to do with the aggressive LHS defense, IMO. Lebanon will be staring down the possibility of a 9-1 season if they pull this one out. The Region is very down this year.
  4. In all honesty, the games that Packer has lined up for the remainder of the season look to be competitive matchups (with one notable exception). This is a relief, because the last few games have been snoozefests. As far as Alcoa/DB goes...the only teams in the state that could actually beat Alcoa are Maryville, BA, and Greeneville. Alcoa will do to DB exactly what Greeneville did to DB, and I'd bet anything on that.
  5. As an unbiased observer, it does appear that McKamey got the short end of the stick in this one. AC starts the fight and McKamey gets suspended? Doesn't seem quite right to me.
  6. Doesn't surprise me a ton, to be honest. In the interaction I had with him, I wasn't terribly impressed with his sportsmanship
  7. This should be one of the best games in Middle TN this week (it's a close call with Brentwood @ Ravenwood). Huge Region implications like you said, as the winner likely gets a home playoff game. I've been very impressed with both of these coaching staffs. The new Hendersonville staff hasn't missed a beat from Hatfield's regime, and the Lebanon staff under Gentry has worked miracles over there. There has truly been a culture change at LHS, which was not an easy task. This game is too close to make a prediction yet...but I'm leaning towards Lebanon
  8. Ooltewah has handed us some tough losses in a couple sports over the years. Would be nice to get a surprise win this week
  9. Wow, I was WAY off on this one. Credit to Bearden for making me look stupid. Maybe they’re for real this year
  10. Campbell County seems to have stalled out a little bit. I hope they can get back up and over the hump, though. Pulling for McKamey at Clinton, too.
  11. Hopefully whoever gets the bell this year doesn't vandalize it and ruin years of tradition. Oh wait... Game day!! Go Govs!!!
  12. I'm not saying that SD is a world-beater (not this year, at least)...I just think that the Bearden hype is a little premature. I haven't been overly impressed with them in the past few years under the current regime. Maybe they'll prove me wrong this year
  13. I agree with this 100%. Even more so than usual, 5A is stacked with a lot of pretty even teams in the Knoxville area. I feel like in recent years, 5A is always the class with the most parity and the most teams that are capable of making a run. This year, since they’re so young, I might be inclined to bet on those other three once November gets here. However, SD has a chance...and next year, I’d say they should be favored
  14. Get someone that doesn't lose to Heritage three times in a row
  15. I bleed orange and blue as much or more than anyone in the world, but I hope Heritage hires a coach that can generate some excitement around the program this offseason. I want them to always have a team so we can always beat them.
  16. Of these two teams, the one that is more overrated is Bearden. South Doyle, albeit young, is a real threat to go deep in 5A. I can't say the same at all about Bearden in their class. I like South Doyle by at least 10.
  17. You still have a good point, the Gallatin loss wasn’t a pretty one for Hillsboro
  18. 36 for Riverdale is a very good HS running back. Runs hard and is quick, too. Not easy to bring him down. It was a good win for the Warriors last night. They were better than Siegel but kept trying to let them back in it.
  19. Stratford actually lost to Hillsboro
  20. I hate to be a person who corrects, I just have a lot of very vivid memories from games at MCHS. The yellow Cherokees lettering on the stadium still stands out to me for some reason, despite the fact that my memory is getting worse with age
  21. Not to be contrary, but it's the Black/Yellow team. The topic was just started by a Central (the blue and white team) fan.
  22. I could be wrong, but CA better win one this year if they're going to...they might not have as much luck in DII
  23. I agree. I see MJ as a definite loss. Hendersonville will be a toss up. And they could maybe drop Rossview or WC if they don't come to play, but I'd favor the Devils in both of those.
  24. I like Lebanon in this one. McGavock is talented, but losing Napier to Blackman hurt a lot. I would have picked the Devils, regardless, but this solidifies it. Lebanon could be looking at a pretty good record this year with the way the schedule shakes out.
