  2. Stats on Tssaa show Ridgeway only shot 1 freethrow the entire game. #11 Alexus got an And1 in 2nd quarter.
  3. Did I see the stat sheet wrong? Did Ridgeway only shoot 1 freethrow the entire games?
  4. Also, you have to respect a team that sales the gym out for sectionals. Got there about 6 and the gym was already jammed pack. PA announced the game was sold out. Now that's how a high school game should be played!!
  5. The Bradford kid is a beast. The kid on the block was giving BTW trouble early. Bradford has 28 with a box on him all game. Caught a monster off the rim late in the game.
  6. Still have so much respect for TCA players and fans. Really good school.
  7. It seems that district 15 has the upper hand in the regionals. There are several factors. For one Memphis had to many schools in one area. The talent is spread. Another issue is the quality of officiating. Almost every Memphis girls team tonight was in foul trouble early in each game. In at least three games the opposing team was in one and one in the first quarter. Fouls in the Regional tournament are not the same fouls as those in the regular season and district. Euro steps become travels but step threws are never called. The biggest issue is Memphis teams usually relie on the play of one or two players to carry the team. In games outside of they regular season, those players always seen to get in early foul trouble. WEST Tennessee has some exceptional girl basketball teams with great support systems and fan base. Hopefully Memphis teams will continue to work hard and at some point be able to contend with district 15. Congratulations to all the team's that won tonight. Im excited to be a able to watch the great coaches and teams play at Mitchell this week. I'll be there with my note book learning from the great coaches and teams.
  8. I agree we are grown people forgetting about the bottom line. These are kids out there working hard for the love of the game they deserve all the praise just to make it this far. All grown people can do is teach and let them play. Good luck to all the kids and enjoy this moment.
  9. Are you really that dumd not to see that as a problem. If the other team shot 21 free throws and your team shot 3 it would be a problem for you. I don't care if the team stopped at Half court and didn't play any defense, the free throws disparity is still a major problem. TSSAA will get their crowd today so hopefully make some money!
  10. I think the state should rotate every three years from west, middle, and east Tennessee. It can expose the kids to basketball throughout the state. Financially it will give you a chance to exploit money in that area. Let's face it those who travel now will travel.
  11. You right kids don't foul in a zone. Good job.
  12. So Perry County shoots 21 free throws and Lake County shoots 3 come on for real!!! It's a money thing!!
  13. As much as I would like to put it on Horton, I can't this time. Up by 5 with under 10 seconds left and you foul on a jump shot the make it a three point game with 3.1 seconds. Then the best player in the state is fouled. You up by 3 with the ball shooting 2 with 3 seconds left. He miss both of them! And a miracle happens. It took a lot out of the boys on the floor. You could see it in Newby face how disappointed he was for not just making 1. Then we miss all three free throws in the OT to loose by 2. The coach can't make shots or get rebounds. If BTW shoots 60% from the lIne they win. I know there was some places in the game where all of us would have done something different but the fact of the matter is the kids on the floor have to execute and Lake County make free throws down the stretch. Congratulations to a good team pulling off a great win. lake County did what they needed to do to give themselves a chance to win the game.
  14. Please get your facts straight. That's THE Booker T Washington Mighty Warriors. The feeder school has not closed yet. I tell you what, you can read the story since the school was just in the national spot light. Try Google, Wikipedia is really not a realizable source. I guess this is the route since we are winning, now we should be banned.
  15. That's it, don't beat them, ban them!! Yeah that will work.
  16. My homeboy Faragi Phillips has done an excellent job turning a traditional power house in Mitchell back around. Representing Grenada Ms.
  17. Humboldt is a very good team, they missed some easy buckets, however , like I said in an earlier post, they just didn't have the beast. Martavius put his team on his back and walked them to the state tournament. The young man has the heart, skill, and desire. A triple double tonight and a few blocks to throw in just to keep it interesting.
  18. Booker T. Washington in single A, Mitchell in AA, and East and Central in AAA. Memphis is well represented in the Boro. Also have three girls teams, Central, Manassas and Overton. Central may as well close their school down early with both teams in the state tournament. Honestly, Memphis has a strong chance to win them all. Let go MCS!!!
  19. If the fan support is anything like Gibson County when BTW came up twice, Oakhaven is really in trouble. Still have to give praise to Gibson County.
  20. I think I will attend this game. Manassas has a really good team very long. They made it to state last year and could really make some noise this year.
  21. How is it BTW's responsibility to please the other team. Horton's loyalty is the BTW and his team. It is Power Academy's responsibility not to allow BTW to score that many points on them. They should have held the ball, or foul or whatever to slow BTW's second and third team down. As for TCA, stop sitting back in a zone for two quarters. MAN UP don't allow them to hold the ball. Take the lead and force BTW to have to score. I get it, even if he win State however method he use he will never be a good coach in your eyes. I promise you this, mowing Horton, he won't miss a wink of sleep because yo don't think he is a good coach.
  22. Ok, this summer BTW was slated to move down to single A because of a projected decease in student population due to CH being torn down. As you know, football schedules are created over the summer. The new football coach created his schedule based on singleA. With this all of BTW's teams were forced to play a single A schedule. This was still okay until TSSAA open up Single A to several new charter schools. 16A has 10 teams in one district, BTW, Westwood, Northside, Middle College, City University, MBA, MASE, MAHS, Power Academy, and MSE. TSSAA require all teams to play teams in their district twice. So that’s 18 required games for BTW. This forced them to remove AAA East, Hamilton, AA Hillcrest, Oakhaven and one game with Sheffield. With a 24 game max, BTW played in the Popular Bluff tournament, which they won, tournaments are a 2 game requirement, MIAA require all teams to set aside one game for City Championship, which they won. They played two games against their rival AA Carver, which they won, and one game with AA City Champions Sheffield, who are also headed to Monday night section game, which they also won. That is your 24 games people. As for Coach Horton's record, this is BTW's first season in single A. Some of you may not realize this, BTW has won the regional championship the last four years and have played in the sectionals 6 out of the last 8 years. The tradition of BTW runs deep on and off the court. This school takes the resources and talent within it community and still competes year in and year out. If you are not from Memphis you don't realize how hard it is to be competitive year after year with all the great schools in one city. Honestly, the move down to single A was really not a good move for BTW. I don’t know how you measure a coach; I guess it’s not on wins, consistency, longevity, or the quality of players but on how other school fans perceive you. I can almost promise you, next year around this time, we will be on CoachT having this same conversation about how bad coach Horton is and how overrated BTW is. It is the exact same conversation that has been held at least seven out of the last nine years.
  23. I said more than likely because I have not seen the, play this season. The only thing I can promise is BTW will show up and the game will be played. If a team is still playing now they must be doing something right. I really expect a good game Monday and lets let the kids determine who win. If humbolt is better and they beat BTW then I'll tip my hat to them. I think Humbolt should press and run and gun with the Warriors I hope the game is in the 90s. Let's get it
