  1. Fair point about increased injury risk. However Creasy has not been afraid to play his best players both ways. He's done it his entire time at Oakland
  2. You're talking about Will Kriesky though correct? I think his twin brother Matt is the one being mentioned for the Blackman job.
  3. All good points. Derek was kind of in a tough spot having to follow GQ, although it was definitely still a great opportunity for him. Having to follow a legend there was obviously going to be some drop off but Oakland's emergence has had a lot to do with that among the other things you mentioned. Derek has still done quite well for himself, 76-9 with 2 state championships so far is still impressive. If not for Oakland, I'd say Maryville would have at least a couple more championships right now.
  4. Prediction: Maryville will be hosting their annual meeting with Oakland on Black Friday again this year
  5. Only by 18? They'll have to improve significantly just to have a chance of beating Maryville. Oakland is a different animal. I don't think Bearden has beaten Maryville since the early 90s
  6. What discussion are we referring to? Winning the championship? Making it to the championship game? Making it to the semis? Since the thread title refers to the championship game participants, I'll give my opinion on that as far as Bearden. I guess they could be part of the discussion but I would consider it unlikely. They have to beat Maryville first before they can even worry about knocking off Oakland. When was the last time Bearden beat Maryville?
  7. Not doubting the information, just curious.. why would Kriesky be one of the top candidates for this job?
  8. What surprises you most about them wanting the job? That they'll have to contend with Oakland in their own region?
  9. Appreciate the link. I've never come across that site before. A lot of great info
  10. I feel like that will probably be the new norm unfortunately. Too many other ways of being able to watch the games now, a lot of people would rather stay home given the option to.
  11. He's always been good at adapting to his personnel back to his days at TC, and it does seem that the longer he coaches the more his offense continues to evolve and get even better. I don't think anyone would argue that Oakland has benefitted from transfers, but at the very least their success has been a combination of both talent and elite coaching. I always cringe when I hear/read "Anyone can win with the best talent"
  12. This is what Creasy doesn't get enough credit for. They've obviously had a lot of talented players transfer in, but it takes a lot more than talented players to win a championship, let alone multiple championships at this level. The line of scrimmage is where Oakland usually has a significant advantage over every team they play. Creasy is a genius at using multiple formations, shifts, trades, etc to create mismatches & number advantages. He doesn't get enough credit for the feeder system he's put in place. What has been built there is a result of a lot more than just having some talented players transfer in.
  13. Jackson would have gone wherever Creasy did. Followed him from Trousdale County
  14. Whether Spurlock did things to favor Oakland or not, Creasy certainly didn't need any help from him to get Oakland where it is today. If he had taken over Blackman instead of Oakland, he would have Blackman where Oakland is today.
  15. I definitely understand your points about doubling his income. Maybe he does decide to go that route eventually. All I'm saying is with what he has going on at Oakland right now, I wouldn't expect him to be leaving any time soon.
  16. I could be wrong, but I really don't think Creasy has any interest in coaching at the private schools. If he does leave I would expect it to be to the college level. I wouldn't expect that to happen any time soon either but time will tell. He'll be at Oakland 2 more years minimum but I would expect a lot longer
  17. Being reported now that Witten is staying in Texas
  18. Surely there’s more to the story than this. Very sad if not
  19. There may be more to it, but if not it wouldn't surprise me that much. Sadly it's the world we live in nowadays.
