  1. Ahh, if only. . . . But seriously, this could only happen if we put 100 on them in the first half, and Coach Johnson is too classy to rub it in the Raider's face like that. Now if we got 75, that would be cool. In the first half.
  2. All the kids that came back from LC were originally Tigers. They sat out the required time and were eligible to play after that.
  3. If you mean the influx of eighth graders moving up into the high school instead of going across the river, then you are correct. The FHS/MC "rivalry" has been a good one for going on at least nine or ten years now. Especially the barn-burner 8-7 loss at Moore Co. in 2013! It will be a fantastic match-up come Friday on Tiger Hill.
  4. For someone who's been on here as a registered poster for two years, you really don't know squat. Why don't you take a few hours and go back through all those threads about the player ruled eligible then he was not. Or, you could read up on the Fayetteville player that came from Huntland. We don't have to go and recruit players like some others have to. We have players being approached to transfer away also!
  5. took until the second half for the Tigers to assert themselves and make some statement plays. sloppy fourth quarter on both sides but Upperman more so. Can't blame the refs for this one this year. Final score 29-6 with the Tigers putting up a last minute BIG score to finish the game and the Bees. Good luck the rest of the season Bees. Stay healthy and keep on.
  6. City takes commanding lead w/ 9 minutes left in the 3rd. 16-0 via a Aljarea Johnson 40 plus rushing TD. Isaiah Thomison w/ 2 pt conversion. Bees return the favor and score but can't convert. 16-6. City recovers onside kick and drives, drives, drives to score. 22-6 w/ 6 54 in the 4th. 2pt convo called back for a hold. PAT attempt good! Score 23-6 w/ 6 47 left. Whew! I'm wiped out.
  7. Both defenses have been spectacular, stopping scoring opportunities by the other. TBH, the Tigers have threatened more, getting to the Bee's 10-ish yard line before turning the ball over on downs. The Bees have only reached the Tiger 20 or so before being turned back. Three consecutive false start penalties on the Bees have been brutal. Each team getting and giving big plays but no one has cashed in yet. Tiger defense making big stands. Bee's running game is all they have shown so far and moving the ball on the Tigers. Only one big pass/catch/run for Upperman I think. Tigers have thrown one interception and got a huge sack on the Upp QB late in the 2nd. Penalties 4 for Upperman 1 for FHS by my count. So far a clean game, no obvious mistakes or miscalls. Good old fashioned defensive struggle. The first team to crack big will end up with the "L". Everyone was saying scoring in the twenties/thirties, I think will end up 14-0 Tigers. Score at halftime 0-0.
  8. I don't think that we'll be going into that game with the same wide-eyed wonder as last year.
  9. With the weather forecast showing possible rain, I hope neither team has a lot of turnovers tomorrow. That could be the difference maker and not the refs.
  10. Wait, are you implying that the referee crew is going to help you win this game? What has this world come to that games won't be decided on the field, by the players, but by "your" officiating crew? I guess the Tigers will have to play, and beat all of them on Friday night.
  11. That's funny. Usually it's the officials throwing yellow on the Tigers whether we are the home or away team. The game last year, seems like the Tigers had more penalties than the Bees.
  12. Thanks for the updates. Couldn’t attend last night , but streamed the radio broadcast until the second quarter when my earbuds died. Am watching the game now on NFHS..
  13. Just looking at tonight, I hope City doesn't take more than a few minutes to hit their stride and start putting points on the board. Wayne County has the want to, they just don't have the can do this year.
  14. That's good news for the Tigers, not so much for Wayne County.
  15. Let's start this R 5 region play by traveling to the creek bank Friday. With both teams 2-0 so far, who picks up the first L?
  16. I think Lewis would have made more of a game of it if they hadn't stopped themselves in the first half with offsides and procedure penalties. Early season jitters/rust I suppose. On the other hand, the Tigers should'a / could'a put the game out of reach sooner also.
  17. Gonna' be a long season at the Hornet's nest this year then.
  18. Some of us affectionally still call him the "new guy" even tho' he's a playmaker and been with us for a while. To your point, all the talent work together for the whole's success.
  19. yes sir. "New guy" is tearing it up on both sides of the line.
  20. 36-12 City scores with 7:44 left in the 4th. The Gordonsville players and team has seen enougn and are leaving. We, however, are here til the end. Go Tigers!
  21. word on the street is that LC is pursuing Punk O'Connor from Giles Co. pretty hard. Throwing a lot of $$$$ at him an lots of concessions to boot!
  22. Congratulations on your hard fought victory. The game was like I expected--two heavyweights slugging it out until the end, only I was hoping the Tigers would come out on top. Too much laundry but I thought not one-sided or biased. Both teams stalled themselves, helped the other, exchanged turnovers, and prolonged drives with penalties. Your QB was the deciding factor imo. Very athletic and hard to bring down. He kept drives alive on 3rd or 4th downs with his legs. #7 was good, but wasn't the giant killer, pound you til you drop, send in the second string kind of player (last night) that I have been reading about. I'll be worried to go against him again next year, stronger, faster/more mature. I thought the Tiger goal=line stand in the first quarter would set the tone for rest of the game. It kind of did--a slugfest. I thought that 95 yd TD run would rattle McKenzie. It did, until it got called back. I thought that the Rebel players having to play offense and defense that they would wear down by the mid-third quarter or fourth. There were some hands on hips, but they still had gas in the tank in the last few minutes of the game. I thought we could drive down field at the end of the game for the win or the tie. I didn't think your defense could stop our run game. It did, Up to the last 4th and 1 around mid-field. Then your coach was classy enough to go into the V formation to kill the clock and game. I also wanted to high five your fan base. The visitor stands looked packed and were definitely loud supporting their team. The ones I spoke with were very complimentary and good people. Sorry we ran out of food! Good luck in the next few weeks--you will represent the West well. Also, hope to see you next year at McKenzie!
