  1. Pulling for the Bears, but...... When was the last time Knox West lost a 5A game? That would be Nov 26, 2021
  2. Oh yeah, I forgot about 4A Alcoa. Unless Elizabethton can find a way to kick it up a notch then they are most likely going to be a 2nd round playoff team.
  3. Couldn't agree more, the DB team deserved more fan support than they got vs. Bearden. I mean come on, the weather was perfect, there are 1000's of kids in the school + parents + community.... It's a great venue, they have good concessions, and it's not like the team was circling the drain this season. But Kingsport is light years ahead of Science Hill in Johnson City, most times I've been there the visitor section has way more fans especially after half time.
  4. We all knew that Elizabethton was in a down year, but this?!??! Elizabethton always seemed to get a 2nd wind when it mattered most (i.e., the playoffs), hard to see such a wide gap between them and Anderson County. These things tend to go in cycles so I would expect Elizabethton to be in the talks at least next season. They have proven that they have a system in place to produce championship teams.
  5. What is it about Sevier County and comebacks ?!?!?!
  6. DB & Science Hill both had good seasons. All I'm saying is they are the best of the Tri-cities & how did they stack up against the best of the Knoxville area? Not so well. But at least they both made the playoffs and won a game apiece. Tri-cities 5A is nearly non-existent
  7. Let's recap 2024, shall we... 5A Daniel Boone (0-10) did not make the playoffs 5A David Crockett (4-6) lost to Knox West 62-7 in round 1 5A Tennessee High (8-3) lost to Knox Powell 34-7 in round 1 6A West Ridge (5-5) did not make the playoffs 6A Science Hill (8-3) beat Cleveland 30-28 in round 1, lost to Maryville 42-7 in round 2 6A Dobyns Bennett (9-3) beat Farragut 42-24 in round 1, lost to Bearden 26-7 in round 2 The disparity between Tri-Cities & the Knoxville area is staggering. As per usual, we'll bookmark this thread for next season, results will be similar to the above.
  8. Radio guys said 27 penalties. 14 for Bearden & 13 on Kingsport.
  9. Do you think Bearden is better, or is it because Kingsport has such a history of choking in the early rounds?
  10. Can't argue against McMinn Co, but Oak Ridge has this weird way of being mediocre during the season and then the phoenix rises from the ashes during the playoffs.
  11. I suspect his ghost still roams up & down the sidelines every now & then
  12. Thread hijack. Although it does appear to be an interesting discussion. And really I guess everything about Tri-cities football that can be said has been said. 5A & 6A that is. At least your Indians are still alive and kicking in round 2.
  13. Right on bro...... But at least your Indians have enough talent to be in a pretty good place this season. Have not seen Bearden play in person but they looked very good last week, going to be a good game in Kingsport this Friday
  14. Maryville should beat Science Hill by 20, but in that first game the Hill beat them every which way but the final 90 seconds in the 4th quarter. Maryville better show up ready to play. SH is not well coached, they have a few good athletes but overall are not that great of a team. But they cannot be taken lightly just because they are from the Tri-cities. I am picking Maryville to win but man they really need to pull it together better than a few weeks ago
  15. Well the needle is moving a bit in the right direction, at least DB & Science Hill made it thru the 1st round in 6A. The Tri-cities 5A teams are into basketball now.
  16. To borrow from this thread title, the future of DB looking decent now. The Indians are sitting at 9-2, don't think anyone saw this happening. Finally beat Johnson City a couple of weeks ago. Got a pretty stout-looking Bearden team blowing into Kingsport this week, but who knows, maybe this is DB's year to make a dent in the post-season.
  17. Sadly this is true. Each season I keep hoping something has changed but it always ends the same way.
  18. Maryville fans, a few weeks ago at Science Hill a Blazer sat amongst you and watched a Rebels team sleep-walk it's way through 98% of the game..... finally came alive in the last 90 seconds of the 4th. Do that again and it will be basketball time early in Blount County. Science Hill is not a great team, they have a few athletes but cannot be taken lightly. Maryville is probably 20 points better but only if they actually show up and take this game serious. I would agree with WaCoJaCo's prediction above. Maryville seems to usually get it together in the post-season.
  19. Once again Region 1 5A has completely choked, yes Sevier County is an exception but they are an outlier to NET. At least a couple of NET 6A teams won last night, but not sure if either can get past round 2
  20. Doesn't matter now, Elizabethton pulls out a thriller
  21. Game's not over, but has Elizabethton ever lost in the 1st round?
  22. Jefferson County looks like an elementary school compared to Bearden. Had no idea there was such a disparity
  23. Crockett will play you hard but they are pretty much outmanned at every position, so it will be a yawner by the 2nd quarter
