  1. 2019 is the date. Things can always change but plans are in the works. New high school will be around $65M. Sullivan North is being sold to Kingsport for $20M which will help finance the new school.
  2. I work with one of the guys involved in the youth programs in the Central area. He has been really enthusiastic about the progress they have been making on that front but when they announced the coming school consolidation it really took the wind out of his sails. The comment I most remember was "Oh well, I guess we are not trying to build a program anymore".
  3. Was it Crowder or Downs (or both) that lived in the Central zone? T Throw in Barger, Wieger, Weaver, and several other "difference makers" over the last several years and Central would not be a doormat right now. We are not talking about kids going somewhere else to be 2nd string. Lots of those transfers are playing on Saturday now.
  4. I don't know all of the details but learned a couple hours ago that Graham's daughter Megan Clark Johnson passed away earlier this evening. Please join me in supporting the Clark family in prayer.
  5. I read it exactly the same way. Was very surprised to see that quoted to a reporter.
  6. So speaking about playoffs, what seeds in the Upward 32 get home playoff games?
  7. GR8, so sorry to hear of your loss. Words are never adequate at times like this - praying specifically for strength and peace for your family
  8. I always thought that was Bill Lane (Times-News sportswriter). Don't have any proof of that but Bill has probably been retired for some time by now.
  9. Unfortunately there is most likely a shelf life on what could be a pretty good new rivalry. If things go as planned the current freshmen will be the last graduating class at SN as they are planning to consolidate North, South, and part of Central. Also, I won't call out the number of the kid but I was very close to the sidelines and heard a bunch of one kids teammates getting all over him because he must have been causing some "unnecessary roughness" and they wanted it stopped. I don't know if it was a father or not but a middle aged man also came out of the stands and gave him a lecture across the fence too so you know I think all this "no class" nonsense that so many on here were quick to paint with broad strokes across the whole team is a bit undeserved.
  10. UNO acknowledged there were dirty shots both ways and that stuff happens. I too saw a face mask on a SN ball carrier right in front of me with a ref right there and had to wonder which players the ref was actually looking at when there wasn't a call. Things happen folks but no significant injuries that I am aware of and nothing to get worked up about. That's what happens when two tough teams get together. I gotta say again I was impressed with Hamptons speed. Every time a SN runner got in the open he was run down. Oh yeah, the way those visitors stands were constructed it would be real easy to expand them. Are they usually full like that? I drove back to Kingsport and walked in around the end of the 3rd Q of the D-B - Bradley Central game and I'd bet there were twice as many fans at the Hampton-SN game. Never seen that place that dead.
  11. Congrats to Hampton. North killed themselves with 1 fumble around their 5 yard line, another around their 31 and then another when they had a pretty good drive going and were deep in Hampton territory. That's a swing of 21 points there and I think there may have been at least 1 or 2 more turnovers. No way you can even compete against a fine team like Hampton with costly turnovers like that. Be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. Hampton should go deep in the playoffs and I am really impressed with their team speed. That's a big difference maker.
  12. I thought Northview Academy was the new Sevier County school down in Kodak
  13. Oh I know. What I meant was that they got manhandled in a big game and I think that this is their year. I was watching that game and personally wished that the Devils had put a few more scores on the board.
  14. I'm no expert on North as I have only seen 2 of their games this year but I was really surprised that at both of those games the line swapped completely out. Their biguns do get a lot of rest during the game. They don't look like a top 10 team to me but they do have a will to win and you can be sure that if they get down they won't give up. And (like it makes a difference) he is about 6'-5" and 355.
  15. Sorry Blazer but Trezevant is in 2A this year. They just might mercy rule whoever gets to play them in the championship game.
  16. And to make things worse our QB broke his leg last Friday and we finished out the game with a Freshman calling the signals....That will be weird on Friday night if he gets the start - both Greeneville and South starting Freshman QB's! I hope SN gives the Dawgs a good game.
  17. Hey folks, haven't been hiding - just so busy between church, work, kids homework, leaves in the yard and the like that I haven't had time to post. Don't know if I'm gonna make the game at Hampton or not but I would really like to. My Rebels have Greenville coming to visit on Friday and I'm pretty sure they are going to get their revenge for that playoff loss we put on them last year. Wasn't really scouting last week as I haven't had anything to do with the North program in 30 years. Just a football fan that had been hearing a lot of good things about those Dawgs this year. Got to go out of town next week and may not even have time to go to any game Friday night. Praying for a safe game for both - you guys take care.
  18. There are around 300 "pawns" who are city residents now going to North and South. If the rezoning from the new high school construction forces them into city schools then DB gets bigger and bigger.
  19. I'm agreeing with King and think it will be Hampton by 10 or 14 in this one, CD had what looked like at least one or more players ejected right at the end of the game last week. Not sure how many or how important he/they were to their game plan but the Unicoi/CD game would have been their one game suspension so that might have something to do with that surprise. Really enjoyed watching the Dogs last night. My buddy and I got what looked like the last 2 seats on the top row. The big guy next to me did his best to teach me how to WOOF after a big play. I think his daughter might have been one of the cheerleaders. Anyway, thanks for the hospitality- might try to come see some playoff games as I don't think my Rebels are gonna make too deep of a run this year.
  20. From what I saw tonight the Hampton - Sullivan North game is going to be a seesaw affair. Still think Hampton is a little bit better team but not by much. Loved those guys pulling around the side and running hard. #3 is a fireplug. Good win for the Dogs and I honestly think you guys probably needed a game like tonight to grow a little bit.
  21. Came to watch the Poodles tonight! Good looking team.
  22. I think David Crockett might still be on probation this year. Better check into that before putting them in the bracket.
  23. Probably not a top 10 team but they keep finding a way to win.
  24. Yeah that "Powerhouse" stuff was pretty funny. Surely had to be coming from a high school kid. Elizabethton by 21+.
