  1. What does everybody see in this game. Who did Clarksville loose from last year and who are the key players returning? I hear the new coach is running a tighter ship this year. What about Goodpasture? I have a friend whose kid goes there and he said the offense is doing ok, but they lost a lot on defense, line and secondary. What does the Goodpasture fans say?
  2. Pujo Do you think Alcoa will play up a division or two or stay where they are at? Even with a few privates thrown in, there will not be much competition other than Milan from the west.
  3. The only thing I can see to knock Trousdale off the top will be the injury bug. If they stay healthy they are the clear favorite. However if Harper and another player or two are lost for several games, then it's wide open. What is the opinion of Trousdale fan base?
  4. Does anyone know if the scrimmage schedules will be posted in the Tennessean?
  5. Big loss for the schools in Memphis, considering the budget restraints in Memphis, much was made of less than most other systems in comparison.
  6. Best of luck to Bonds in whatever decision he makes. I believe he has the talent to earn a full ride at UT if that is where he goes.
  7. I agree with this, the only two changes being in d2aa I would still go with Ensworth until someone is big enough to knock them off the top, in 2a I go with Trousdale if they avoid injuries.
  8. What are the best 6a games to look for in week 0?
  9. You are so right about this. How many times where we have seen on paper a team with superior talent get punched in the gut and not recover. I know many sports require hard work and desire, but in football more so than other sports, desire can overcome many advantages other teams may have.
  10. Yes, White House is the favorite, no surprise if they finish on top again. I guess I feel that this year the difference between the top 3-4 teams is not as big of a gap as in past years.
  11. The cubs will be a tough out in the district this year, however this may not equal wins. The big advantage for the cubs as well as others in the district is that I don't see any district team who is head and shoulders above the rest so anything can happen.
  12. I'll tell you what I think. Go back to last years Murphy fair 2a pre season all state selections and then compare this list to the post season all state list and see who in the pre season made the true all state team. Should be interesting. By the way, you can do this for 1a, 3a, 4 a, etc.. As well.
  13. Sportsnerd, I know this question is off-topic, but you being in Nashville, have you heard that Lipscomb and Treveca may start college football? If so, will it be NAIA or NCAA?
  14. I don't think Alcoa cares any way. They have beaten privates about as well as publics historically.
  15. What does Greenville bring to the table this year? Did they have to replace a lot from last year? Who are the key returning players?
  16. I have to believe it will be Giles and CPA. I am not sure how CPA will be on the line. The last two years classes was loaded with great linemen. I know they still have great skill folks, but will they get it done up front?
  17. I know you have a good insight on this program, who will be the hardest players to replace who just graduated? Who are the leaders this year?
  18. What's up with Sycamore thus year? What do they have coming back? Don't they have a transfer from a private, either Davidson or Goodpasture I believe?
  19. For what it's worth, I don't really believe this is a CPA fan, this is just too stupid to be a real post.
  20. It seems that Alcoa fan base gave CAK credit for their run recently without any excuses.
  21. Look, I am not an Alcoa fan so don't accuse me of being one, however I get really tired of all the excuses many, not all , but many fans attribute Alcoa's success to pure recruiting Blount and Knox counties. I don't know but can assume that Alcoa's success has been due to: 1) decision by admins to improve facilities. 2) great and loyal fan base and subsequent booster club providing both moral and financial support. 3) the decision to hire not only a great head coach, BUT even better assistant coaches. 4) a buy in by all Alcoa players to not only play as well as possible in the season, but work just as hard or harder in the off season to be a better football player. 5)strong support from the top down by all employees in the high school 6) historically a strong blue collar working class area with good talent from several families who have lived there for years, see Tyson and Warren for example. 7) and finally, a great program that ATTRACTS the best in the area. HOWEVER, the bread and butter of Alcoa's success has been the development of players with moderate talent who work as hard as they can and coaches get 110% of there skill. Again, I'm not an Alcoa homer, but let's give credit where it is due and get off this recruiting excuse as the sole reason for their success. I'm looking forward to the day Milan takes the gold ball from Alcoa. Hard work will get it done.
  22. Good luck to ALL freshmen football players entering school this fall, everyone from the top ranked recruit in TN to the last guy who was invited to walk on somewhere. I know your parents and community are proud of you and may the good Lord protect you and watch over you in college.
  23. I agree with you slim, I have read chickhot's posts and he/she is smarter than this and knows that an 8th grader of this type will be starting from day one, in fact I would not be surprised if he was promised a starting position from day 1. I have heard from more than one person that the split is a done deal after the 2014/15 season is completed. CPA admin apparently know this and are being open and could care less what the TSSAA rules are since they will not be competing with publics after next year. If you think it is bad now, wait till the split happens and the bidding war between the privates will be in full force with no holds barred.
  24. I believe your assessment is right on, for 2A I would look out for Boyd and Mitchell. For 1A Dresden may be more of a factor. AllRegion, is the Friday night radio show still going to be broadcast this fall as in the past?
  25. I heard it will not be effective until the fall of 2015, if this is the case it would need to be decided before the end of 2014 to have time to schedule.
