Thank you to all the umpires this week at the tournament. Were they 100% perfect? Probably not, but neither were the players, coaches or fans. I will say the strike zones at the games i watched were very consistent to both teams. The boys couldn't play the game without you. Thank you!

I applaud you, or whoever made the decision not to play on Sundays before 1:30. Baseball won't last forever, but eternity will!

Congrats to FCS on a well deserved championship. Would have liked to have seen Silverdale's #1 or #2 pitcher against FCS, but they had to burn both of them to get past Riverview. May not have ended any different, but may have been tighter at the end. FCS's pitcher was very tough. The most dominant I saw all week. The team played solidly around him too. FCS is a great team & got a well deserved championship!

Does anyone know why there is an 'Upper Bracket' and a 'Lower Bracket', instead of a straight 'double elimination' 8 team bracket? In theory, if the top two teams were in the same bracket, then top two teams wouldn't play in the finals. In a straight double elimination bracket, that wouldn't be the case. I know people will say that it only matters who wins, but getting to the finals should be reserved for the two best teams, right?

I can't disagree with these based on what I've seen and read about the teams. BUT, which of these games has the biggest chance of an upset?, and why?

If any newspapers or websites do a good recap on the teams that made the Final 8, will someone please post it on here. Would like to read more about each of these teams. Thanks

Tonight's Region Championships were not elimination games (anywhere in TN). Losers travel & winners host Sectional/Substate Friday. Winners Friday go to State & losers are out.

May be referring to whoever played QB at Lake Forrest Middle last year (rising Freshman, like Cole C.)? Just a guess, because I don't know who else it would be. Cal Pickel played QB at LFMS years ago, but I'm guessing he will be back at WR this year.

Region 3AAA Ooltewah will win handily over Coffee County. Soddy Daisy may be able to give Cookeville a game. There is no competition in District 6AAA, so it's hard to say what they have. This could be Cookeville's year to make it past the Region. Dist 5AAA was very mediocre this year after Ooltewah.

Gosh, Wasn't Mills @ CHS his Freshman year & WVHS soph (sat out) & Jr year (played). Doesn't seem right that kids can just move around & play for teams that are 7-8 miles away. I just figure they will get the ball to DJ any way they can (especially in the big games). Maybe not handoffs, but screens, etc.

I heard the same thing about many still in track & baseball. Who will be Cleveland's primary ball-carriers this year with CJ Bryant gone? I know they have several solid receivers back & DJ has All-State talent at receiver. I'm thinking DJ will get 4-8 carries a game as well. But who will be the primary runners? Raekwon Bunion has potential. Will he have a breakout year, or will it be someone else getting more carries?

5A Champions - Silverdale Academy . Runner-up - Chatt School for Arts & Sciences

District 5A - Boyd Buc has to be the favorite until someone knocks them off. They lost a lot of seniors, but have a great QB coming back, and I am sure several other great players. They are like the great SEC teams - they don't rebuild, they just re-load. This will be Silverdale Acadamy's best chance to beat them (previously they have had no realistic chance whatsoever and they have never stayed within 30 points of them), so Boyd is still the heavy favorite. They don't play each other until the last week of the season. Should be a game of top 10 teams, however, Boyd has a pretty tough schedule, so voters that don't really keep up with that may not vote accurately.

I heard this a little while ago & was really surprised. Was hoping 2 teams from this area would meet in the state finals. What happened?

I heard that Boyd Buchanan got put out of the District 5A tournament tonight. Lost in losers bracket finals to Chatt School for Arts & Sciences. Big upset. Season is over. Real parity in HS baseball this year. Sounds like anyone can win it.
