  1. Was his dad's name Tom who wrestled in the early 80s
  2. I can't get the brackets yet. are they posted yet or is it my computer/connection?
  3. Agreed. For such a talented wrestler it is unfortunate that poor decisions have followed him throughout his entire high school career. One of the deeper talented weight classes just got a little shallower. Regarding injury, it is Interesting that there was no sign of injury when he wrestled FRHS Eckhart.
  4. Yes, agree. This years DII region is not on the calender either but we are having it.
  5. Where is the DII "wrestle in" region tournament. the latest and greatest idea from the TSSAA. It's not on this years calender and seems to not be on next years either. this should be called the make believe or pretend tournament. Maybe the stick it to them tournament, or cash flow tournament. Come on if the TSSAA doesn't take in seriously how can anyone else.
  6. thank you. I appreciate it!
  7. Any word yet on DII dual state brackets. When should they be out?
  8. Dang, no luck in accessing that video link.
  9. Please tell me your kidding about the ribbons. The medals are horrible for a STATE tournament as they are now. It is a joke and a slap in the face to the sport of wrestling for what is suppose to be what every wrestler should strive for, winning or even placing in the state tournament. The T$$AA should be embarrassed and we as the wrestling community, fans, coaches, and schools, should be EMBARRASSED that we allow it to happen. The medals you win at the individual school tournaments are always much nicer than the state tourn. I'm not sure when it changed but back in the day (early 80's) the state medals were pretty good. I just don't get how an organization can put $$ before kids. It is so wrong in every sense of the word. Urrg!
  10. Surprised this hasn't been talked about yet. I'm not an expert on this as info seems to be scarce but this tournament Seems to be another T$$AA money grab, Only somewhat detailed information on it is just now coming out .I say somewhat because it's not even on the T$$AA calendar. (it is that important of a tournament) Seems this tournament is being held in Chattanooga for the East region to determine the top 6 that would be allowed to go to the state. The West is having their own with the top 3 going to state. I've heard that many coaches tried to get T$$AA to allow the top 4 seeds in the East region to get an automatic bid but it seems an outcry from a few smaller schools and one they say in particular somehow put a stop to that . What this mean to me is that top ranked kids, especially this year where East (middle tn) region is stronger, are going to potentially wrestle each other 3 weeks in a row, at the dual, region, and the state, it means another 5-10 dollar parking per day and 10.00 per person per day (no family rates) to get in the tournament, it means risk of injury right before the state,it means stupid! this is just my opinion with what information i'm hearing. Let those that know speak up!
  11. I like when the refs talk to the kids to get more action out of them. I don't like when refs engage with the audience though. It does become about them when they are more focused on what they hear from the audience than what is happening on the mat. During one match the ref stopped the match 2 maybe 3 times and called potentially dangerous. The kid while performing the chicken wing kept running his hand up on the shoulder joint. One of the Bro parents yelled out that it was an illegal move not a potentially dangerous move ( a coach next to me agreed) and the ref looked back at him and reemphasized. "POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS". I believe the parent was correct and all knew it when the ref brought the attention to himself by doing that.
  12. Agreed! No fun watching a match were a kid takes 10+ shots and the other kid plays defense the entire time. Saw that several times this weekend. got to call it or they will keep doing it.
  13. Anyone want to take a stab at predictions? Not it! but some of you more predictive types might.
  14. What time Friday the 20th does the tournament start?
  15. I think Parker ends up at 180 and Popp at 170. I would not discount Parker at all. he is young at least grade wise but smooth wrestler for sure. Wondering if there is a chance they meet up at some time? Lots of what ifs in a post like this. Is there a way to determine if any of these guys will actually meet at some point during the season. Probably have to know tournament schedules to figure that out.
  16. Baylor will be tough this year. Not knowing much about WC line up but knowing how tough they were last year in D1 it should be a good match if they didn't lose to many starting Sr. Baylor is the team to beat in D2 this year so my gut says they will take this match. When is this match scheduled?
  17. Wondering which teams will be in the Bradley Inv and which will be at the Cleveland duals
  18. Great idea. When is this tournament?
  19. If your going to stir the pot do it with something that can be remotely believable
  20. All this has been very interesting and a bit entertaining. That's why I like these boards. It's like that very old game show, I think it was called "to tell the truth"..... makes you want to say "Will the real purple Irish please stand up".
  21. Only 2 play football. Hagey and Stacey and I think those 2 are making it to weekend wrestling practices. The rest are working hard and a handful or more are up at Fargo.
  22. I see where this list has Simpson from Ryan at 138 and in the topic "most anticipated matches" they have him at 160. I don't see him at either but somewhere in between.
  23. As for the list you should toss in a DII kid in that group at 170. Popp if he goes up to 170 and Hagey
