  1. I have been trying to come up with something to say about the game and I just don't have words for it. Penalties, poor offensive game plan, soft defense, the officiating, just all around bad. We have needed a coaching change for quite a few years now, we will make a run in the playoffs, probably won't make it to the big show just like years past. Past teams loaded with talent and always cut short due to coaching. Hopefully we can figure it out and have a decent season, but if tonight is any indication for the rest of the season the basketballs will be out early in Huntingdon.
  2. Both teams have improved since the first meeting earlier in the season, that's a given, but by how much will be the question. Huntingdon is playing very tough defense and is no longer a one dimensional offense. With that being said, we are far from a passing team, but it helps from having 11 in the box every play. I expect this to be a hard fought game on both sides of the ball by both teams.
  3. Two great games will be played Friday night in Carroll County! McKenzie spanked us early this season and is hands down an amazing team! Good luck Rebels! Hoping for a big night in Carroll County.
  4. Should be a great game! No blowouts in this one. Huntingdon has to play all 4 qtrs and not turn the ball over. Ball control and penalties will be a big factor Friday night! Go Stangs!
  5. I know the Camden vs Fairley game has us Stang fans feeling ok about this one, but it was a 60 to 6 game Fairley vs Mitchell. I know our boys are ready, they may be in a dog fight all night.
  6. Great ballgame, hopefully Huntingdon can hang in there long enough in the playoffs to meet the Chargers again. Huntingdon pass defense is an achilles heal, the kids play their hearts out just have never been taught pass defense. The next two games will really tell the tell for the playoffs. Theses kids really learned a lesson of not giving up and weathering the storm to come back from a 14 point deficit and having a shot a tieing/winning at the end.
  7. Definitely not blaming everything on the coaches but they chose the slow paced offense that we run. Getting behind is not an option especially with a team as good as McKenzie. The loss of good players will also hurt but I agree we are young and a tough group of boys.
  8. As always with the Mustangs, coaching is the achilles heal. Lots of talent on both sides of the ball but once we get behind the slow paced offense will not be able to keep up. By now you would think Huntingdon would have a pass defense but unfortunately not. D-backs are 10 yards off the receiver and looks like they have never been taught how to defend a passing offense. Now this is no fault of the boys, as they give their all every down, it comes down to coaching and we have been lacking there for awhile. The Mustangs will have a good year and will make it to the 2nd or 3rd round, but as with years past we will get out coached and it's not fair to the boys. Huntingdon has been needing a change for a couple years now and it's the most talked about secret in town. As far as this Friday nights game I think the Mustangs come out on top if we can contain the pass. Flowers will put the qb on his back all night if he takes his time back there. Eubanks is quick, has a good arm, and can motor. Skippy can flat move and is tough as nails. All the skill positions are well staffed and have backups to give some rest. I know south side will definitely be a test and the boys need a win after taking the stomping last Friday night.
  9. I honestly had high hopes for him, but from everything I have seen, which is every game he has played in high school, he is not physical enough. Big strong kid but I think other kids beat him out on physicality and definitely on speed. Not taking anything away from him as he has the potential to really be a standout. I hope he takes this off season to better himself and his team, I truly think he will and be a real force next year if he figures out the physicality.
  10. I couldn't agree more! As parents, fans, sponsors, etc. I feel we are doomed to good seasons and not getting very far in the post season. I absolutely hate if for the kids, they deserve better. But it's the same song every year, play calling looses the games in the post season. I think we alot to look forward to the next couple years but I don't see Huntingdon being a state contender team until the coaching strategy changes. Im not saying fire Swenson but maybe he should come to his younger, hungry coaching staff and get a better plan.
  11. Huntingdon is not firing on all cylinders tonight but are hanging in there. I'll eat my crow about the running clock after half.
  12. Neither team looks as physical as Huntingdon in my opinion. MAHS is definitely a threat. Not overlooking Mitchell but I think we could a running clock second half tonight.
  13. I remember in 2013 Mitchell came to Huntingdon and spanked us 40 to 28. The band showed up at halftime and never stopped playing. I remember their kicker hitting 50 yarders with ease in warm-ups.
  14. I think Huntingdon pulls out the W in this one.
