  1. Any metro scrimmages this Friday?
  2. First Post or new Username for ex Pat ..... My early guess based on Metro's 7 on 7 tournament a few weeks ago at Hillsboro, new coaching hires, and returning players that I am aware of. List order likely changes after Jamborees.... 1. PC / East 2. CR / Antioch 3. Hillsboro 4. Overton 5. McGavock / Lawson / HL / Maplewood 7. Stratford / WC 8. Glencliff I think it is PC/East and then the rest of the pack. I've stated it before, Antioch is my sleeper team to keep an eye on. Their record might not be great given their SEC Western Division like schedule, but my opinion is they will be much improved.
  3. Yes. That is the Antioch HS that i am referencing based on what i have seen with my own eyes. Don't care about what they have done in the past. Coach Arnold is doing it the right way. He has coached under Blade and won a State Championship. He has coached under Dilfer and won a ring so i would say he knows how to coach. They are a much improved program imo so we will see if i am right or wrong over the next few years.
  4. Probably well known in metro Nashville, but Antioch's 9th grade QB is going to be a problem for other schools over the next few years. The Bears are a program on the rise in Nashville.
  5. Maybe someone like Tom Kreager with the Tennessean.com will look into this? Are any metro schools getting the new field turf that was mentioned months ago? I think East opens up at home against JPII so perhaps this game gets moved to an away game...
  6. Any movement on the Stratford job?
  7. My understanding is that Lawson/Metro already had purchased the irrigation system for natural grass before the word came out that new field turf was in the works. They will be the last school to get the new turf from what i am being told.
  8. When will they start working on the new fields?
  9. Great leader of men. Expect to see him elevate in the college coaching ranks over the next 5 years.
  10. Do you think the hire will happen prior to spring ball?
  11. When are interviews for East? Being the first Metro school to get field turf may attract a quality coach/staff. Hope the Principal will allow the HC to bring in teachers/coaches inside the building to build repour with the kids. If she doesn't, the coach will get fed up and leave at the first opportunity. Many of these Principals simply don't get it and expect the HC to produce miracles. Makes what Stewart did there even more impressive.
  12. What direction does East go?
  13. When will we hear this announcement?
  14. Metro football is different than what it was in the past, but it is not dead. CR had a good season last year with some D1 talent. PC won a bunch of games and EN appeared in the State Title game two years in a row. I think it 2020 was when Metro decided to not have middle school football. The HS teams played a shortened season with little practice time. Was told that many kids/parents left metro at that time to go to private schools.
  15. I believe Valor plays with Overton. I am not sure who Lead Academy plays with, Middle College or NSA. NSA used to play with Hillsboro. MLK used to play with Hillsboro before opting to partner with PC in 2008 (losing out on a State Championship). Looking forward to see how this season plays out with the new partnerships.
  16. Is Alcoa loaded again this year? Who are their key players returning?
  17. Any idea when the decision on this will be made ?
  18. When did Hillsboro go open zone? I believe it was open zone back in the early 2000s if not earlier. That was when they were the top program in metro.
  19. This very well could be the year that Metro gets the gold ball as EN and PC compete for the rings this weekend. Both teams have a good chance to get wins where in the past, the odds were stacked against them. Alcoa showed they are beatable, and PC seems poised to get over the final hump this season. Love to see both teams win but i think ultimately, only one will get it done. Metro rivals during the regular season, but i am pulling hard for Nashville's public schools this week. Best of luck to both squads.
  20. I think this is a very close one. Bartlett is battle tested.
  21. Why do you feel kids at HF or MLK shouldn't be allowed to participate in Class A for athletics ? Are they competing in Class AA instead ?
  22. Best of luck tonight for EN, CR and PC! Not much better than an early, cold morning Thanksgiving practice to let you know it was a successful season and everyone associated with the program should be thankful for the opportunity.
  23. Why would the Bellevue folks be steaming? The new school's color scheme? The new school is going to be very nice and should initially bring some new energy and transfers. Don't see anything negative from this weeks' news from Bellevue regarding the new school's name, logo and color scheme. I am not following where you are going with this post ... BTW, Good luck in the playoffs. Bring metro a gold ball. It's been too long!
  24. Glencliff has a larger coaching staff this year and they appear to have more players. They play more disciplined but they lack depth so this should be a running second half. I think they have two solid skill players but that isn't enough in this region to compete.
  25. With the new enrollment numbers out there and the few schools choosing to play up, how do we see the metro regions shaping up? Why would Whites Creek move to 4A and why would a Lawson choose to play 5A when they have 4A numbers? Only thing that makes some sense is that these schools are playing up for scheduling purposes. I suppose Lawson will be placed into a region with Hunters Lane, Hillsboro and Glencliff. Wonder who else would slide into this region..... maybe a Springfield, Henry County or a Hendersonville?
