  1. Very impressive. I assume he is a higher rated recruit than the lineman from last season who committed to UT. Good luck to the teams who have to go against this guy next season....
  2. Having not seen Barion Brown play.... what player in today's game does he remind you of? I guess he has his pick of colleges to attend so he must be really, really good.
  3. What are the early thoughts on this 9 team region for the Fall of 2021? I assume Tullahoma will be the favorite going into the season with the key players they have returning. PC seems to always reload so perhaps they are right there with Tullahoma as the region favorite. How many of these 9 teams have an opportunity for post season play ?
  4. If AB gets the job, will Mettenberger stay on the staff? I don't know Zach but I would think the kids would soak up as much as they could from his collegiate and pro experiences....
  5. Any chance one of the Cane Ridge assistants will want this job? I would assume a former Vol and Burro alum would want another HC opportunity...
  6. Fun thread to follow. Don't see Overton making a playoff push into the third round anytime soon. With that schedule, they could win some ball games though. Hope they get a solid coach who gets to bring a few coaches/teachers with him.
  7. Hope you are well coach. I could very well be wrong but i thought Shaeffer (along with a small committee) at Hillwood hired Tom Moore. I do agree with the sentiment that many of the metro Principals don't care about athletics. It is unfortunate.
  8. Curious to know why Cheatham County appears to not value the impact of quality coaching. The lack of money for assistants is troubling and it appears that the power that be don't care. The people in Cheatham County deserve better.
  9. Appreciate the pass. Been out of the mix for a few years. Coached at TSU when Broome was a RB there so we go way back and I support him and the Maplewood program as I spent a few years coaching across the street. Don't know much about the Maplewood culture these days but I assume the academic reputation at Green Hill could be a step up. Don't see the metro teams getting as much exposure across the state as they used to. The Tennesseans' Kreagor is great but he is just one guy who does his best to cover a large area. Nashville's leadership is really poor and it is a crime to see what the Metro Athletic staff's, kids and families have had to endure this year. No parents are allowed to attend games, no kids get to go to their schools, etc..... The private schools in middle TN are experiencing the highest enrollment in their history so they are benefiting greatly from Nashville's poor leadership. I don't blame any metro student athlete from leaving Davidson Co public schools to better themselves.
  10. I think Broome made a good decision regarding placing his son at David Lipscomb. Appears from the outside that his son is highly intelligent and a tremendous athlete. Not sure why you bring Coach Broome's name up regarding this transfer?
  11. When should we expect the Metro teams to release 2021 schedules?
  12. PC by two touchdowns... Metro makes it to the big show!!!
  13. Both of these schools are operating essentially as 6A teams with their current enrollment so they should have beaten the likes of the Metro 5A teams. Should be a good game with similar physical style of ball. Good luck to both teams moving forward.
  14. I think Summit wins a close battle. Wade (QB) will be the best player on the field. If Beech eliminates him, they win. Easier said than done.
  15. Knox Central lost one of the best coaches in the State last year and won't win it all this year imo.
  16. I think it will help teams like Glencliff and Hillwood given their low enrollment. Those two teams don't have the number of kids to regularly compete with Beech, Gallatin and Hillsboro.
  17. Perhaps the reclassification will help some schools become more competitive ...?
  18. Game to be played at Hillwood but Hillsboro is the home team i think. I believe 2004 is the last time Hillwood beat Hillsboro. Based on what we have seen so far this season, Hillsboro and PC are a wash. The Burros dropped a game winning TD with seconds left in the game if my memory is correct. CR is close behind both these teams. Until Hillwood beats Hillsboro, they remain the 4th ranked metro team imo.
  19. Yes i am from Nashville. You make good points. Lot of driving to hit all those schools. Rudy K used to fly the Channel 4 chopper from game to game and that was special if he showed up at your campus. AM560 and 104.5 do Saturday morning shows that are really good. It is very unfortunate that these hard working HS kids can't get more coverage.
  20. I disagree. I think he does a good job of covering HS sports in middle TN. Why wouldn't he focus on Davidson County schools and the close by DII schools. I don't see many other media members bringing attention to our high school student athletes.
  21. What do you mean by out of zone? Special transfers are those kids that were approved by the district to be at whatever school they ended up at. An example would be John Henderson who was allegedly zoned for McGavock but was able to play at PC due to a special transfer rule or the fact that they were an entertainment magnet school which allows students to attend who don't have this learning option at their zoned school. Most schools in metro have "out of zone" kids attending.
  22. There is another metro school a mile away that might be more appealing than the Antioch Bears. BA has always recruited the area well (UNA kids). Seems most kids in Metro can go anywhere they want if they provide their own transportation. I think the days of a metro team winning a title are gone (hope i am wrong). Hillsboro 2008 is the last team to do it by beating Maryville.
  23. Other than PC, does any other Metro team have enough 9th grade players to field a 9th grade team? Regarding the PC vs Hillsboro game last Friday night. Both teams fought hard and I thought it was a well played game. The Burros had opportunities to close it out but failed in the clutch. Both teams should be proud of their performances.
  24. Where are you getting this information? Can you share a link?
  25. Hats off to Coach Fitzgerald and other coaches/players for speaking on behalf of the Metro student athletes, coaches and families this afternoon. These kids deserve a chance to play. Guess what? Football a dangerous sport. All the kids and their parents who choose to play this game are taking a risk of serious injury every time they step on the field. They have a choice to play or to not play. Those who are worried that they may transmit the virus to their family should sit the season out. If Metro schools remain virtual for an extended period of time, grant these young men and women an opportunity to play Volleyball, Soccer, Band, Cheer and Football if they choose to take the risk.
