Agree, but the Overton Ryan game is a toss up imo . Neighborhood Rivalry game that is great to see being played again. Two well coached teams . Pulling for Metro in this one.

Is there any positive news coming out of West Nashville with the new leadership? Hope the toppers will win enough to get to the post season. Been too long.

Really only one poster who feels 7 on 7 is like a "PE Class". Most coaches agree that these events are great for building programs. Hillsboro was greatly improved over last year imo. Their QB was impressive as well as their team speed. Independence fought to make it to the title game and competed really well. I saw East Lit get better as they gained much needed experience. Willing to bet that all the coaches at this event are glad they made the decision to attend and compete. Also, not a bad way to get exposure to try to get a Vanderbilt Football scholarship offer. Nice to see Ravenwood make it the final 4 of the tournament with the new coach.

How many metro teams will compete today at Vanderbilt's 7 on 7? I believe Hillsboro and McGavock will be there. Any others. This is usually ran very well and it is typically very competitive.

I don't know how good Independence and Beech will be this year, but this will be great entertainment. Can't wait to see this battle

I wonder what this boards' consensus would be if Ralph Thompson applies for this job? Wouldn't he have a better resume than the current DC? Coach Thompson set national records as a Hillwood student-athlete many years ago and has been to the state finals as a HC. Good luck to the Toppers on this hire. I don't believe they have won a playoff game since 04. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Current Hillwood coach announces retirement in July much like Bobby Johnson did as he retired from Vanderbilt. Creates a tough situation for the current Principal who has to make a quick hire. I suspect that the Principal will hire the first guy who can fill the opened teaching slot. Don't personally know the current Principal, but I have been told by several folks that he is a Basketball referee in his spare time and really could care less about the school's athletic success' or lack thereof. Forgot about Clayton winning at Vanderbilt back in 2008 when he was coaching at Franklin (not a metro school) . Clayton is a good coach who has made it to the big show once that i know of. I wouldn't put Armstrong on that list due to his 0-10 record as head coach. He has been very successful as a coordinator though. Coutras is a metro hof coach with a championship and has a stadium named after him. Hopefully the Bears can get this done soon and begin the transition.

High Life and ZippyDoDah (second post ?), Blade most definitely was the best coach metro has had in a while imo. How long is a while? I don't know. Fitzgerald would be in this conversation as well as Aydelott in regards to success on the field. Who would you guys argue that would be a better coach? Please name more than 1 metro coach (other than R. Thompson) that has beaten a Blade coached team. Although he has not had the championship run, i would be thrilled to have my son coached by Anderson and his staff at Overton.

What were the unforeseen circumstances that prompted Jakobik to resign?

How did their Spring practice go? Has Blade begun to work with the kids yet? Curious to follow their season and see if they can get back to the deep playoff runs they enjoyed a few years back.

Congrats to Woodard on this move. Much better circumstances at Brentwood over Antioch. Funds won' t be a problem and eligibility won't be a problem. Very nice facilities already exist for immediate success. He will be expected to win much more than he did at Antioch and i think odds are in his favor to do so

Pearl has been under performing ever since Deaute Mason left. Question, ...... Do they still have MLK High School kids playing with them? Pearl supporters will take credit for Antonio Richardson receiving a scholarship due to their tremendous coaching staff.

Don't see the need to bash Blade while being excited about your new coach. Blade is much, much more than just an X & O guy. OR football is now relevant again thanks to Blade and his staff. Be grateful for what he brought to your program. Gaddis will keep it rolling without Quarles on the schedule. Good luck to you guys in the fall .

Any movement on this position? Metro football is better when WC has success. The Snake Pit can be an exciting place to watch a football game.

Good luck to HL with their new coach. I hope he can bring in some quality help. Cobra's Principal should be calling Law and offering him the job immediately as he was let go unfairly imo.
