  1. My favorite game of the 1980'S, that's why I remember it so well.
  2. When Danny was a senior he was the quarterback on the 82 team and also the placeholder on extra points. At the end of the game Heritage scored a touchdown with very little time left and went ahead 9-0. On the following extra point Danny rose up and threw a perfect pass to one of his receivers which made it 11-0 and Heritage's first win against Maryville since the series started in 77. Maryville fans were highly ticked off because they felt like it was rubbing salt in the wound. The following year when both teams met again at Maryville the Rebels ran away with the game and after the first couple of touchdowns they went for two points after each score for a pay back and the score was 45-0 at halftime. The following Monday Bob Gilbert the sports eiditor for the local paper bashed Maryville in an article called the Humilation of Teenagers and tore into Maryville even though he was a graduate of the school. Those were the good ole days when Heritage had decent teams and the rivalry between them and Maryville was a fun event to see.
  3. He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
  4. Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
  5. I stopped at a yard sale two weeks ago in town and I ran up on a couple of ladies that were talking and no doubt one of them was a teacher at MHS and the conversation was pretty much what your saying. I listened to much as I could because the teacher was talking loud. I acted like their conversation was just flying over my head so they wouldn't stop talking. The lady was bold enough to come out and say someone wasn't happy just being what they are now but just playing their time until the big job opens. She told the other ladies people in town better wake up fast and get to asking questions on what was going on up there.
  6. Sounds like the same group that designed West, South, East and Fulton. They all used the old Knoxville High Field along with Rule. Talk about a field that got over used.
  7. If someone needed their grades pumped up surley it would have to be for someone needing it to get to another level. If your intending on going to work right after high school it wouldn't matter. Why would someone in their right mind think if they screwed it up in high school that their ready for college. It has to be for an athlete to get them over the fence to get in and from that point the school their going to will cheat them through the rest of the way for their athletic skills just like the rest.
  8. The new school will be on that road behind Home Depot next to a church. I'm wondering if this could take from Greenback or could it be the end of Greenback, they only have 200 students.
  9. The New Word of the Day at Maryville High is Tuition. Everytime the superintendent hears about the yellow paint on the football field he gets Tuition he could stick that can of paint up someone's behind.
  10. It most certainley is and who knows how long the head coach will stay also.
  11. The season ticket had a $5.75 service fee on it. What kind of service will I be getting for that ?
  12. Be nice if it happens, Just need to keep the yellow paint out of someone's hands if it does.
  13. Not sure where he will land but I've been told lots of issues follow and not exactly with the kid himself which is unfortunate but I hope for only the best for this young man and will be a big supporter where ever he lands.
  14. Talked to a man today that told me he had saw preliminary drawings of a new athletic indoor field house to be built on the present practice field at the high school for football and other sports use. Curious if anyone else has heard about this because I sure hadn't until this morning.
  15. Got three more days to renew your Season Football Tickets.
  16. That's called Karma for letting that Lucifer get away with painting the football field with yellow paint.
  17. That's the actual measurements from Google Earth. I have nothing against HVA and hope them well but not a great place to watch a football game at. I am glad they have a decent field to play on now versus the grass field that looked like cattle had ate it up.
  18. When they built this place they didn't take enough land for growth and now have painted themselves into a corner. My guess is most of their potential football prospects are attending some of the nearby private schools just as Karns leaving them with only the scraps. My nephew played for GCA 8 years ago and they lived in Karns and most of the kids that played for GCA did also. This is a mess and the only thing I know any worse is the problem running Maryville High.
  19. Glad he is somewhere now and out of Sweetwater. I personally thought he could of landed a better job than that but maybe it will all work out.
  20. Hear me out on this one. If your setting on the visitor side at a football game at HVA and your on the first row you are exactly 84 feet to the sideline not to mention your setting down low which the football team blocks your view unless you can get higher seats that only takes you farther away. If your on the home side you are exactly 109 feet from the first row to the sideline but the only positive is the bleachers are on higher ground but the sun will blind you until it goes down. I don't care about their weight room because I'm there to watch a football game that is a nightmare to see and also getting out of there after the game. I guess I'm spoiled because Maryville's field is 27 feet from first in the visitors side to the sidelines and it is built up where the players don't block your view. The home side is 30 feet from the side line to the first row and your setting up high also to prevent the players from blocking your view. HVA's design on the fields is an all time blunder considering it was a school built since 2000. If there is a place I dread going to HVA tops the list.
  21. Been to a lot of places but never been to a dump like this,
  22. I'm not sure what his job details are but you can bet your life their very limited with that witch in charge. I personally like the guy but I've been told his leash is so short he has no choice but to go along or face the firing squad Coach West did.
  23. Because it should have never happened without the highest in command giving their approval which they didn't because they would have never allowed it. When you go do something like that with out your boss man's approval this is what you look like.
  24. I don't want to mention names but he wore a lineman's number last year. Hope one of the other schools gives him a chance to show his abilities.
  25. They would still have their cow pasture football field had Pilot not donated the money for what they have now. The whole place is a nightmare to get into and out of during football games. The visitor side is the worst I have ever seen in my life.
