  1. Bradley Central over Oakland Alcoa over Giles County Knox West over Walker Valley Greeneville over Upperman South Pitt over Oliver Springs York over East Robertson
  2. If he had stayed at Maryville you can bet he would have had 90 more wins to his credit and could of been the only person to break Rankins record if he wanted to do so. That is if Rankin ever decides to retire in the near future.
  3. This was once on the table back before the down turn in the economy back in 2008. Once things started to get better Maryville put all their eggs in the basket on improving the elementary schools and not as much towards the high school. It's been known for years about the expansion of Denso and Amazon coming to town so why wait til they get here to do something. Yes all towns around have got caught in this mass migration to East Tennessee and we all hate it except the turds that are benefiting from it.
  4. Biggest thing that has hurt the football is that they allowed the school to get out of hand on enrollment and now they can't accept tuition students. That's our leaders for us. If a family lives in the county and wants to go to Maryville they either move into the city or they can't go there. It will be like that for a few more years until new school is built. Other thing that hurts no one talks about is that the 9th grade goes to a different school half mile away at the junior high. Because of that the 9th grade can't compete in spring practice. We had a bunch of 9th graders come on during the season. Had Derek had those kids to work with in the spring he would have been in a better position at the first of the year.
  5. I would bet the house every single Maryville fan that takes NFHS will be tuned into the Bradley and Oakland game.
  6. It's obvious their not a good football program any longer and haven't been in a while. The records speak for themself but what you have mentioned sure tells anyone exactly why. There are some programs that you can't run the coach off with a blow torch because the headman won't pull the trigger and lets the coach hang around so long he completely destroies the program. The one thing that keeps the hopes up with Maryville is this was a rebuilding year and the coaches did a remarkable job in doing so losing 17 starters from the year before and actually 18 losing LaDue at the start of the 3rd quarter in the first game. The bad side of the coin was that we were in every game we lost during the season, all with in 7 points or less. Had we won those games Maryville would have got the respect they deserved on such a rebuilding job. Most of those loses were to either poor defensive scheme, bad play calls and one game totally mismanaged. It will be a good winter for us to work those bugs out especially being so close in all those season losses.
  7. If any chance in the world GQ went to Alcoa the very first thing he would do is jump to 5A. He absolutly would get nothing out of beating up on a bunch of corn dogs from Lizard Licks. That is a good Thanksgiving story though. Hopefully Coach Nix will be around for a long time, forget the loss to Maryville , he's doing a great job.
  8. The school board has been to busy dealing with Karen and the Library Book this week. Somebody should take it and throw it at her.
  9. It appears most of the last eleven years at DB hasn't gone well as it's past. The last coach had some good teams for most of twenty years but the last five just went to pot. I remember when they were looking for the last coach they said we're going on a national search only to hire somebody in their own backyard. When you do stuff like that then your running a good ole boy's system. What looks worse than the record over the last eleven seasons is that the neighbor from Johnson City has beat you 10 times in 11 games and right now has a 5 game winning streak. Next years seniors would have been in the 6th grade the last time DB won that game. How embarrassing that has to be to the fans at DB. This is what happens when you let the wrong people in charge of your program and I fear the same could happen to ours unless a stand is taken to prevent it.
  10. No wonder the ship sank. Even the Skipper had a better boat than that on Gilligan's Island.
  11. NIL is just a steroid shot for the teams that have money, high school or college. TSSAA should put a foot down and just say the NIL is Okay but you do have to play with the private schools because you have an unfair advantage amoung your competition period. On the college level it's to late to save that burning ship.
  12. Normally this is the week of Thanksgiving practice at Maryville which finally has came to an end. Instead of football news from the high school this week's top story is Karen wants a book taken off the shelf in the library.
  13. NIL and the transfer portal will be the end of football for a lot of college football teams. The got to have it now generation have put demands on coaches that are to unrealistic. In my opinion ten years from now ETSU will have given up football again along with many other schools that can't keep pace with the highway robbery the NIL has created.
  14. Not sure about the 36 or 37 season but I do know for a fact the team was called the Red Rebels in 38 and has been since. Even though the teams had the little Rebel Man on the front of the game programs for years up until the late 80's but they clearly said Red Rebels. There's a bunch of them at the barber shop to look at. When that program changed Maryville was doing it's best to avoid confliction between the two. To me personally Red Rebels has always been the name but bad marketing by someone shortening it to Rebels like the end zone among other things still connects us to what we're not. The story about the 35 team has a meaning behind it and I would hate to lose our name one day over bad marketing mistakes which draws out the idiots like Teeter Tot to hang onto.
  15. I've watched this stuff clearly change since the late 80's. At Maryville their trying to please big brother except do it even better. When we've had this going on for close to 40 years most younger people don't know any better. There isn't a place in this country anymore you can pull over on the side of the road to take a wizz without somebody watching you on a camera. I wouldn't be surprised if Maryville don't have fart detectors in each class to find out the guilty party that cut the cheese.
  16. This is my department. This is my specialty and I can answer this question and not bat a eye lid. ALE YES.
  17. I have a friend that went to Maryville with me that was two grades behind that went there on scholarship as a punter. I'll have to ask him how many times he hit the ceiling with a punt in that building that looked like an armory.
  18. They'll go check out the defensive coordinator at Emory & Hemorrhoid. He has college experience.
  19. Fartky got his early Christmas Present seeing GQ get run off. At least the Arkansas State didn't stick a knife in Butch Jones back after going 5-17 his first two years and stuck it out and their going to a bowl game against Marshall. ETSU to me and always has been a school with a dinky football program at best and the reason everyone lost interest and they shut down shop. Now they have invested money right back into what failed before and expecting different results. After what they did to GQ and signing a five year contract and telling him to go away after the second year and short changing him $275,000 on top of everything they should change the name from Bucs to Indian Givers.
  20. Seriously doubt GQ would pizz on Maryville if it were on fire. You think he hasn't heard about the Wicked Witch of the South and how the basketball coach was handled. Matter of a fact every coach within a 100 mile radius has heard about it. Right now we better hope Derek stays in place long as possible or we'll reap what we sow.
  21. I would be surprised if GQ came back to high school football because he has more options than most people know. Another coach we're all very familiar with is Marcus Satterfield from Greenback who also was fired from Tennessee Tech with the same record of 6-16 after 2 years then went to Baylor for a year then to the Carolina Panthers and was the offensive coordinator with South Carolina the past two years and now the O.C at Nebraska. I promise you Marcus is making 5 times what he did at Tennessee Tech. Once you get into that college circuit there are many opportunities and I believe GQ will get one of those. He paid his dues at Furman as a grad assistant and once you do that your in the club.
  22. I would have said I want all my money and tell Marky Billson to kiss my azz.
  23. That was a good game and I tuned in and watched it and the Bradley game as well. Only getting a field goal just before half really came back and hurt them at the end. The QB got knocked into next week and maybe shouldn't have been in there in the end. You could tell he was half out of it after that hit.
  24. It will take two or three generations from now to forget this stupid episode in the history of the Sweetwater Football Program. I would say forever but remember that's what the new agenda is in all public schools is to erase history and rewrite it the way it didn't happen. Also tear down a statue or two that serves no purpose while their at it.
  25. They've done everything but burn Tapp out to leave Harriman but he won't leave.
