  1. Huh? You mean the small wage several coaches in the county get for field maintenance? The grass grows in Chapel Hill as well, and the Forrest coaches cut crass just like most coaches in the county and in the state. Try again.
  2. I don't understand this comment at all. Every single coach in this county gets paid the same supplement, regardless of their school. So Kriesky, Osteen, and Randolph--a 2A coach, a 4A coach, and a 1A coach--all make the exact same money to coach. The assistants get paid the same as well. There is literally no validity to your statement.
  3. And you don't think that the Lions Club and Touchdown Association are sweetening the pot for the Forrest boys? LOL
  4. Great point. Marshall County has now set the standard for this region. If the Blair guy didn't like all the work that OC and Osteen put in then what makes you think he would like it now? The whole staff at Marshall County are extremely hard workers, dedicated to the kids, and they put in tons of hours all year long. That by no means makes them God's gift to coaching, but it shows how hard you have to work if you want to be great. That combined with the talent that's there almost every year at Marshall County creates special seasons like the one that just ended. One frequent complaint of Giles fans when Walt was there was that he just didn't work nearly as hard as the previous coaching staff. Not sure if Blair will be any more appealing to them once the new wears off...
  5. Incorrect. Reserved season ticket seats are only good for regular season games. This is a fact--ask any Athletic Director at any school. Also, could you sound any more snobbish and condescending towards the regular, working class people of the world? You act like we aren't worthy of being inside your hallowed walls.
  6. Do any of you know if East Hamilton is bringing in temporary bleachers? Marshall County is bringing a VERY big crowd. From what people have said on here and judging by pictures, the visitor bleachers are almost non-existant. And not to disparage the fine folks of East Hamilton, but as if it wasn't ridiculous enough that Marshall at 9-1 and the one seed has to travel to a 3 seed, this makes it even worse. How does not having hardly any visitor seating and not having RUNNING WATER AND TOILETS meet the standard of adequate facilities as defined by the TSSAA for a freaking playoff game!?
  7. Congrats to Marshall County QB Ashton Posey, who has just been named a finalist for 4A Mr. Football! Not bad for a system quarterback!
  8. I'm sorry, I thought that good coaches fit the "system" around their kids' talent, not fit the talent into their system. Guess that's why Spring Hill is 11-1 and Marshall is 3-7--OH WAIT.... According to unapproved website, Posey is averaging 14.6 yards a completion. Uh, that's a pretty healthy number for a high school quarterback at this level of football. And if an average coach would win with Marshall's talent, then why was Marshall so terrible when the previous head coach was there? He had this year's senior class that is now 11-1 and last year's senior class that was 8-3--and had one of the best players in the state in Chris Walker--but his combined record in two years of being the head coach was 9-13. Heck, our season may end Friday night and we may even get out coached (who knows!?), but that doesn't take anything away from the job this coaching staff has done in getting kids prepared to play, believing in themselves, and being the most physical team on the field every single week. Any of this other crap you're trying to spew about what outsiders' perceptions of Marshall County football and fans are is just that--crap. We've got a bunch of great football players and more importantly fine young men who play the game the right way.
  9. I'm reminded of an old saying about how opening your mouth removes all doubt about being an idiot...If you think Ashton Posey is some kind of "system" QB, then you know absolutely nothing about the game of football. The kid has a cannon for an arm, is a very effective runner (especially in short yardage), and is an absolutely fantastic competitor and teammate. Osteen is a very demanding QB coach, and Ashton has put in hundreds and hundreds of hours over the last two years developing into an elite QB. He now has over 5,000 yards passing in his career. You think all those yards came from jet sweeps? I've been at every MC game the last two years and I can promise you that that play is run 4-6 times a game, maximum. So for you to make that comment is absurd. Also, it's always been true that great coaches have good players to coach--and Marshall County certainly has a lot of good players. But, how would you explain the curb stomping that Osteen and the Tigers put on your Spring Hill Raiders? They arguably have more talent than Marshall, plus they have TWO players who have been offered by SEC schools while Marshall County has ZERO. The difference, of course, was in coaching. Look at all those athletes Spring Hill has and look at their 3-7 record. Meanwhile, we're planning a trip to Chattanooga this Friday...
  10. All I did was pay your coach a high compliment and state the obvious: Forrest is not an elite, state championship level school or job. But you do have a great coach.
  11. I don't recall typing the words "Marshall County" or "Thomas Osteen" anywhere in my post. I believe you might be the biggest troll on this entire website.
  12. Knowing how hard of a time Giles had getting a coach last time, I would say the heavy hitters are not likely to pursue this job. With that being said, if I were running this search my first call would be Kriesky. He's a young, up and coming coach who's done about all you can possibly do at Forrest...That will be even more evident when they get smacked by Marion County this week. There's a reason Forrest has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs. He's got a great pedigree from being an assistant at Oakland when McDaniel was there, and from everything I've heard he wants to be a coach at a school that can compete for state championships, not just a nice little school that will never have a chance to be an elite contender.
  13. Have no idea yet if we are the best team in 4A, but we are the deepest. We don't have a single player that starts on both sides of the ball (we have a couple that rotate some on the other side, but none that start both ways). We have 7 defensive linemen that rotate. The 3 backups would start for almost every time in 4A. Only one of those 7 plays any offense at all. None of our offensive linemen play any defense at all. There can't be another team in the state that's deeper than us. True two platoon football. We are very balanced on offense. Our QB is simply awesome. He is the leader in passing yards for 4A, and we have the top TWO receivers in 4A by yardage in Tre Crutcher and Jay Howard. But we have a strong running game too. We've rushed for over 600 yards over the last two games alone.
  14. LOL, Marshall County won that game 46-6 and forced 5 turnovers. They've got 4 seniors starting on the offensive line, and the left tackle is one of the best, most dominant linemen in the state. And why in the world would Giles talk about anybody not being physical when they were 3-7, with their 3 wins being against teams with 3, 1, and 0 wins. LOL.
  15. I went to this game last night since the Tigers didn't play till tonight. Thought it would be nice to go support our brothers to the north. Saw lots of Tiger players and a couple coaches there. Perhaps some of the Chapel Hill folks will venture south of the Duck tonight and come support the Tigers. Somebody should've gotten a picture of Posey and Sweeney after the game since they are both Mr. Football finalists.
  16. If memory serves me correctly, Page is the only region game that Marshall County didn't get a mercy rule running clock in for at least part of the game. Best team, best players, best coaches=region champs. On to Cumberland County.
  17. I really don't understand all this bellyaching. Marshall County plays tough, physical and has a bunch of guys in all three phases of the game that love to hit. In today's time of soft people, I guess that gets into players' and fans' heads from other teams. I have not seen them do anything "dirty" this year. They play the game the way it's supposed to be played. Don't know how far they will go, but I feel they'll have a shot against anybody in the state. Defense has improved a ton as the season has gone on, and the offense is as good as it gets. All the skill guys get tons of love, but the offensive line might be the best in 4A. I don't think they've even given up 10 sacks on the year for a QB who's leading the state in passing. And the Tigers have over 2,000 yards rushing on the year as well, so they are great pass blockers as well as run blockers. Helps that they have a great young coach that really stresses technique and the mental part of the game. If you watch from the stands you can see that he coaches up all 5 of them on the sidelines in between possessions. The Tigers are blessed with some great players and a great coaching staff that puts in a TON of work and hours. Most well-coached team we've had since the 80s Edens era.
  18. This coming from a guy whose coach flipped off the Marshall County crowd after their game.
  19. So basically Spring Hill is screwed unless Tullahoma somehow beats Giles. But stranger things have happened! As disastrous of a year as they have had, if they can somehow get in and be the #3 seed, they could absolutely win a game. Region 3 seems very weak, and other than East Hamilton I would assume SH would have a big athletic advantage over any other team they might play in that region.
  20. I really don't understand why you get off to trolling big brother's message board. I pray that Marshall and Nathan Bedford Forrest will get a game together in two years when it's schedule-making time. That way, when Marshall curb stomps you by 60 you and the other Forrest trolls will crawl back inside your hole and stay on the north side of the river. Marshall 49, Page 13.
  21. Not only is he statistically dominating 4A (there's really not any other QB or RB in the state that has put his numbers AND been as efficient as him), but he is a great team player as well. He couldn't care less about his stats or touchdowns. He would be perfectly happy with handing the ball off 40 times a game if it meant the team would win. He is a great player, great competitor, hard worker, and a true TEAM guy. There is no one else who deserves it more than him.
  22. What in the world has happened to Signal Mountain? This is a long, long way to fall in just one year. I know they lost their coach, but just an average coach wouldn't be 0 for the season considering that this school quickly established themselves as a program to be reckoned with every single year.
  23. Inexcusable. Am guessing he will probably lose his job over flipping off the MC crowd after the game. Surely a principal and director of schools will not stand for that. I don't care how much you hate your former employer, that type of behavior is unacceptable. Marshall County played better, hit harder, out coached and out classed Spring Hill and Turchetta. This was a dominant win. I still cannot believe Oden was preseason all-state and a "4 star" QB. All hype and no proof. He couldn't hold a candle to Ashton Posey. This game removed any doubt about that!
  24. Lots of interesting story lines in this one. The coaches' preseason pick to win the region (SH) versus the team in the driver's seat (MC). A preseason all-state QB versus the best quarterback in the region and a probable Mr. Football finalist. Turchetta versus his old team. Let's get it on!
  25. Never seen so much love for Marshall County by Giles folks! Might as well ask the question on everybody's mind....Who gets in the mix for this job? First person I'd call would be the Forrest coach, Matt Kriesky. He's doing a great job and is well respected.
