  1. Good, because 6-4A needs y'all bad. You too, Sacred Heart!
  2. It's funny how I can already tell the playoff seedings for this region (I don't mind sharing that implications). Looks like SGC and Covington will be a huge game. Also, Covington and Milan. Seems like nobody is talking about the Chargers for some reason. Very good ball club.
  3. Realistically, Milan should win this game by a score of 35-7. That's the score im going with. The only way North Side can win this game is if they get off to a fast start. They pretty much have to hit the end zone in the first quarter, or they virtually have no shot.
  4. BigEd is not hating, it's called moving on. Your team is in Kentucky, stay on CoachK.com or whatever your state website is for high school athletics and debate on that website. Debating here on CoachT when I'm sure all of UC fans have moved on is classless. Their region is a tough region, and all they care about is who they're playing on Friday night and not a team from Kentucky. I've already warned you on this.
  5. It's not that they don't have a clue, it's that they don't do their homework. First thing is that they have to cover their respected teams from difference classifications. Then they have to make sure how good their teams is in each class compared to 50+ teams in different classes across the state. It's simply not an easy job. And they probably don't have any access to film. Just simply stats and schedules.
  6. There's no official timetable for his return, but he's pretty much done. He's been riding around on golf carts and four wheelers on Friday nights to and from the locker room. I think he enjoys that. Indians are starting 7 sophomores on offense and it'll show. Defensively is decent, but not a stellar defense. Don't know what the numbers are, but be on the lookout for #8. He's a linebacker that has a good presence and he's vocal. If you sit close to stand near the field level, you'll noticed that. Losing 23 seniors and scheduling Germantown, Milan, Haywood, D-Burg, and Briarcrest does not help. Not making excuses but our players need confidence. The two touchdowns they have scored, came in the second half at Haywood. Note what I just said, no first half touchdowns yet.
  7. You have two options. Option number 1) beat us by 14. Option number 2) beat us by 30+. You decide.
  8. Yes, but it's not the upset of the night in West Tennessee. I assumed Bolivar will role in this one because I know SGC hasn't won a "big" game in recent years and I know Lexington is down. I'm shocked, but congrats to SGC, have to give credit where credit is due. My initial thought was when SGC played a big game, they usually don't win, but not tonight. Overall, I still believe Bolivar is okay.
  9. Don't know if this game will have a huge impact on the standings or not. Just truly believe that the winner of Milan/Bolivar will finish first with the Winner of SGC/Covington finishing 3rd. If Bolivar plays Bolivar football, the Tigers will win pretty easily. Bolivar 42, South Gibson 20.
  10. You're wrong, or you have a totally different vision. I always tell kids that "go where your heart is" and not worry about the money when it comes to choosing a university to attend for the next four years. I know somebody that turned down a full ride to be in the band at UTM just to be in The Pride at Knoxville, which she got a $300 dollar scholarship at best. If you're telling kids 'it's all about the money' then you're putting pressure in them to find the cheapest place to go. Just my $.02
  11. I know we are still in August but the Panthers of Lewis County are getting no respect.
  12. True, very true. And it has to do with a tough schedule. Germantown, Haywood, Milan, D-Burg, and Briarcrest are no jokes. Unfortunately, I did put down Chester County and SS as easy wins for the Indians, even though Chester may not be a guarantee win. Haywood beat us physically, speed, and size. Something about Hookfin teams and how they can get really big in a quick period of time. It's evident our boys aren't ready, and we will probably be winless into October because CC and SS are 2 of our last 3 games. Briarcrest is sandwich in between.
  13. In addition, you guys will be fine against North Side. The Indians lack of experience is showing and the kids are getting blind by the lights. No fight.
  14. Agree. That's why I'm simply saying show me proof of numbers telling me there's a shortage. Giving the "newer" guys the games that aren't worth attending to will get old quick and will make them leave. Just like working in a restaurant business, want to see someone leave your business, give them crappy hours. And it might be a good official that walks out the door because he's constantly working crappy games, just happens that he is young .
  15. Spot on BigEd, that was probably your best post here on the T, and I am not being sarcastic. Just seems like we all want instant success, but forget about the word and patience and what it means.
  16. The chances of him remaining as an assistant will be slim. He simply drove that program down and quit on the kids. I don't know what to do if I am Humboldt, but I will certainly look into hiring a young and upcoming assistant that will bring a positive vibe into Humboldt football. Good news for Humboldt is that they have time to evaluate their program, if they are willing to do that. They also may have to open the paycheck a little bit, but we all have something to say about Humboldt. They simply have the talent to make a deep playoff run year in and year out. No business for this team to not play Huntingdon in November.
  17. A few things, my team could probably beat Union City in the past, but they can't this year because my team lacks talent and depth this year. I hate using 'rebuilding' to describe a high school football team, but my team fits into the 'rebuilding' category. Second, I never downplayed Mayfield. I simply said that the "bend don't break" motto on defense is rarely successful come playoff time. Yes, points is the only stat that matters. But 300 yards is a lot for a team that simply runs the football just to get 4 yards. I've seen some crazy posters on CoachT, but seeing someone who's from a different state puts you close to the top. I mine as well go to CoachW and talk high school football to Wyomians or CoachV and talk high school football to Vermontans. Should I?
  18. Y'all "bend don't break" is a very good philosophical defense for the regular season, but is it a very good strategy on defense come playoff time? 300 yards on defense, but gave up 0 points? Give yourself a pat on the back, but what happened if UC scored four touchdowns? Sometimes, teams get lucky and teams don't. Sometimes, the "bend don't break" defense doesn't bend on a Friday night, it just breaks. And if that happens in a playoff game, that stinks.
  19. He's trying his best. Gotta give him the benefit of the doubt. There's usually two guys at the Sun, but one of them moved over to the education department two weeks ago and left sports, leaving one guy to do 40+ High Schools to cover and having to cover football, volleyball, girls soccer, cross country, golf, and preparing for both boys and girls basketball, which is not an easy job to do. Not trying to make an excuse for him, but I feel bad for the guy. He simply does have a passion to cover high school sports, which something that we as normal people should praise him for. We as people often criticize journalists for being a 'homer' to one or two schools and/or not giving our school any credit.
  20. They'll support basketball only in the month of February. I've been to a few of their home games in previous years and the attendance has been average. To me, getting Shaq to Jackson showed somewhat of a desperation. If they have money in their programs, Shaq probably wouldn't be coming to Jackson.
  21. We can all sit here on our electronic device and bash Coach Reid and Humboldt High all they want, but that is unfair to Coach Reid. Truth is, Humboldt has no pride in their school. There's a lack of community support that supports their Vikings. I have no idea how many bottoms are sitting in Humboldt's stadium on Friday nights in the fall. Something I need to look into. I talked to a assistant at Humboldt and he just mainly said that their are athletes at Humboldt have scholarships to play college football but shoot themselves in the foot and stay home. Who's fault is that? Coach Reid? The athlete? Or the parent(s) of that athlete? Sometimes, the community fails too, not saying that this is all on the communities fault. But Humboldt lost 20+ seniors for a 1A school, of course they aren't going to be extremely competitive this year. I didn't think Coach Reid will ever get Humboldt to that 'level' that we are all expecting, but next time I want to see the Humboldt community to support their Vikings, or do a better job at it.
  22. I said that because it's insulting to the players. What I mean is this, in 2012-2014, North Side would always start 2-0/3-0 on their season. We have about 65 players that dressed out (sophomores-seniors only) unless a Freshman can produce on Friday night, but unlikely that rarely happens. When we got off to that 3-0 start and the temperature drops into the high 70's in September, that's when we saw about 5 players randomly on our team. Unfortunately, those 5 players rarely got playing time, and if they did, it would be in blow out games. They mostly were JV players. It may or may not happen everywhere, but it especially happens at North Side. Which in my opinion, it's not fair to the players that worked all June and all July in the heat, 7 on 7's, and scrimmages. I don't know if the TSSAA has a rule, but I wish they can make a rule where all schools have to turn in their roster by their 1st game on Friday night, which will unfortunately kill schools like Middle College, MASE, and TCA for an example. I let BigEd and TCAIntense slide on the lack of the depth in football, but I don't let them slide on that in basketball and baseball because they always have 20 players on basketball and baseball teams.
  23. Are they that bad? I mean, I know JCS has little to no talent, but I thought they could have build something off last year despite losing Whitmore, their RB. Seems like they lost all the momentum.
  24. If there is a shortage, then I need to see numbers to prove it. I don't know what the dream is for the state to have on officials and the amount of officials at each game (whether if it's 7 man crew or a 5 man crew). I will say this, there are a lot of older officials who probably won't be in the black and white stripes in 2020, and I believe there will not be enough amount of reinforcement to replace the older officials. At the end of the day, I just want officials to be in good shape, make good calls, not be 'flag-happy' and hustle to get yourself in position to make the call (also dont be lazy if there's a blowout).
