  1. ND is very talented and hadn't been playing up to their potential. Looks like they have it all clicking tonight.
  2. Nope I like rgiii. Why do you assume I've never seen Smith County? Have you ever heard of Hudl? Before you ask it is spelled hudl and not Huddle. Did you ever consider raynard before Reynard? Just asking
  3. Beast Ridge Forever ! There used to be a stud there a few years ago they called the Dildozer. East Ridge has too much team speed and will win by 14.
  4. According to trackwrestling Surherland won 10-2. Track has known to be wrong before on scores though although it appears Sutherland won for sure as he wrestled Bullard in the finals after that.
  5. Geeze.. Does this Durdon guy even have a kid or ever had a kid compete in high school wrestling? He sure has a lot of answers for someone with 0 experience. Here is my opinion for what it's worth. I don't think this affects anything . In all honesty some of our best coaches in the state are club coaches. There aren't many high school coaches running club practices and the few dedicated ones that do it are doing it to benefit their programs and not using it to recruit other schools kids. Those coaches will not stop running clubs nor will their AD make them because their goal is to make their existing teams better. If they allow kids from other teams to participate will be up to them but if those kids decide to transfer then they will do it knowing they may have to sit out a year. I agree , the rule is probably geared towards other sports but don't think for a minute there aren't a few wrestling teams it's also geared towards. The bigger , more pressing question will be if they move the public schools with open zoning and the ones that allow you to attend their school from another school zone if you pay some form of tuition to div II. Look at how that would have changed the landscape of Tennessee wrestling over the last few years from both a team and individual perspective.
  6. Good points. From what I've heard from both the public and private sectors is that this is to curb the recruiting and unfair advantage some of the private schools and public schools have with open enrollment. It's not really directed so much towards the current DII schools. You basically have private schools competing in the public school division that are finding creative ways around the financial aide rules such as discounts for religious affiliation, work / study programs, ect.. In some cases they are more free to offer forms of aide that even the DII schools can. I personally know multiple families that applied to Dii schools and were told their financial costs after going through the process was going to be $4,000-7,000. They couldn't afford this but yet those same kids end up at a DI private schools with higher tuition than that and that supposedly give no financial aide? It also appears there is a huge concern over open enrollment public schools. Some schools allow you to attend their school even if you live in another school zone if you pay a small tuition fee. Obviously this allows the athletes to go to the school with the best athletic program for their respective sport in those instances. It's my understanding that the biggest concern is over football. I agree that if you offer any kind of financial assistance or tuition you should be in DII. What is going to happen in wrestling is that they will make yet another state wrestling tournament for the DIi small schools that are smaller.
  7. What does the future look like for these two programs. Marion has taken over the last few years as the boss of the valley. Is it going to stay this way for a while or does SP have some talent coming up through the pipeline.
  8. That makes more sense. I'm not saying I agree with it personally but the other interpretations weren't really going to stop any recruiting efforts.
  9. Ok, gotcha. That's not that harsh then. Most everybody moves if their going to transfer.
  10. That last part doesn't make sense. You were already ineligible for one year if to transferred schools without moving . This " new" rule wouldn't change anything if that is true.
  11. Unless I'm reading it wrong , one of the proposals is stating that if a kid attends a camp or open gym time at another school and then transfers to that same school then the kid would be ineligible for a year. It looks like the tssaa is attempting to cut down on schools using these events to attract kids to their schools. It doesn't mention youth clubs at all. I think they are referring to high school age kids . I doubt that would pass anyway. It appears there is more concern over the privates that compete in DI that offer forms of financial aide such as work plans for the parents and kids, religious affiliation discounts and so on. I won't point any schools out but there are a few that recruit as much as DII schools . I think it's a much bigger problem in football and basketball than wrestling. The Tssaa can't legally govern kids sports , they also can not legally tell school Systems what they can do with their facilities in regards to who can use them. The Tssaa is simply a governing body for high school athletics.
  12. The obvious best two are Reggie White and John Hannah. To be considered the best ever at your position in the Nfl says it all.
  13. I've always been impressed with both schools fans on the message boards. Class acts from both teams. Good luck to both of you
  14. Got home in time to catch the second half. Baylor was impressive for what everyone thought would be a down year . My source told me they were without 3 recs, cb, 2 lbs, and a d lineman the second half. The game could / should have been worse. Luckily for Rhea this game means nothing , they can regroup and have a good year.. While Baylor showed a lot of heart and are coached very well they will have to get everyone healthy and stay that way to even be competitive with the top 4 Dii teams. It's just a much tougher division
  15. Baylor is too thin with injuries, rhea will grind on them now. That fumble on the goal will come back to haunt them
  16. I think the qb is out too. An awful lot of injuries to start the year.
  17. My sources tell me Baylor is without a starting cb, a lb and 3 of their top 4 receivers. I bet they started subbing early even if it lets Rhea back in it. They will want to be healthy when their brutal Dii starts.
  18. I was referring to the wrestler from Georgia. It looks like Sutherlamd wrestled him last season in the Archer tournament. I didn't see anything about a new coach? Where did you see that info?
  19. DI- 1st- Bradley 2nd ? Can someone place above Cleveland? Dii 1st Baylor ( according to their facebook they have a new double Fargo all American, might be enough to put them over the top 2nd Father Ryan
  20. I tried looking up the stats which was not easy as most of the Notre Dame wrestlers don't have profiles built in trackwrestling. It's been my opionion that the best of preps has favored the small schools and North Georgia based on their sometimes inflated records due to much easier competition. In the 152 lb class I'm suprised the Nd wrestler wasn't selected just based on past history of going with the better records to chose the members of best of preps. That being said... I agree with the current choice due to the Notre Dame wrestlers lack of competetion. If you look up his opponents he didn't wrestle any of the top kids in the state the entire year. There is a huge difference in his tournaments and opponents vs the McCallie wrestler. McCallie beat Father Ryan in the finals , the same Father Ryan wrestler beat the Notre Dame wrestler very easily the year prior. I'm not sure if they go back to last season when looking for common opponents but I had to go back that far to find one. Like others said, it's all hypothetical and each year there are probably mistakes but it's not easy to pick these teams especially if one wrestler doesn't really have many quality wins. As far as comparing the two tournaments what does the number of opponents have to do with anything if one group has far less talented wrestlers? You wrestled the d2 runner up in the same weight class and got majored by him the year before while the McCallie wrestler beat him. It's a shame that's the only common opponent there is to compare but just goes to show your level of competetion this year.
  21. Team scores http://arena.flowrestling.org/event/43-national-preps
  22. Hope Sutherland is ok. Tough way to lose by inj default. That kid is as tough as they come. I'm sure Daisy May will have something smart to say . Not sure why that killed wasn't called for stalling?
  23. How is Bullard only 16 at 160? Didn't he win super32, powerade and Kc Stampede?
  24. Nothing against Evans but do you really think he wins if he's a middleweight against Soloman, Sutherland, Kennedy? He wins because his wrestling skills are far greater than other heavyweights. His skills nor his strength/ weight ratio would be even close to these guys. Doesn't he and Soloman practice together? I bet Soloman gives him all he can handle even at 45 lbs lighter
  25. What are you basing this off of? We know Debien has placed at fargo but Kennedy has placed at big national level folkstyle tournaments Debien has not placed in. Im not just going to use Kennedy but any of the top middle weights. I think Debien is an incredible wrestler and should be in the talks for p4p but would we be having this discussion if Oliver had gone to a public school or if Debien went to a private school? he could have gone to being a 4timer to never winning the state title. Freestyle and folkstyle do not always mean you are the best. In the old days Fargo meant much more but with all the national level folkstyle tournaments now not all your best wrestlers wrestle freestyle. Who are some of Debiens biggest wins in Tennessee? Im not saying hes not great... I just honestly don't know. How does he do with Ezra Taylor in the practice room?
