  1. I said the night of the scrimmage that I felt like WB was as coached up in the best scheme for their current personnel as they could be. I saw a lot of fight and grit for just a short turn around. Specifically, your QB and RB are talented, but the youth flashed from time to time. Our speed was hard to deal with, but that would be true for most teams honestly.
  2. Thank you sir- you've got a friend in Chattanooga. Hope yall shock your conference this year and beyond!
  3. When will the stud RB from last year be healthy enough to carry the ball again this year? I'm hoping not Week 2.
  4. Would love to get an update from anyone who's seen McMinn, Soddy, White, or Walker Valley recently.
  5. Caught wind that WB scrimmaged Cleveland at some point this camp. WB fans, how did the Owls look in comparison to the Raiders?
  6. I'm not sure how good Ringgold is expected to be this year, but WHOA the Owls looked good!
  7. Translation: I've been following the Eagles and they are still very talented. You better play fast and physical against them or you'll be dominated on the field and scoreboard. And I concur!
  8. Fair assessment, Gov! Glad I made the trip, but was disappointed it only lasted about 90 minutes. With some key starters sitting out to heal up, it was excellent work for some new Owl faces on both sides of the ball, especially defense. I thought your Govs looked organized and well prepped, and you could tell they take pride in taking the field. All healthy and a lot learned for both teams. We aren't hurting for QBs or overall speed. With the MANY faces playing right now, we should be very deep when it counts.
  9. I'm no rules expert, but it's pretty clear that you can only scrimmage 3 teams plus a jamboree. A three way scrimmage counts as 2. Ooltewah has had their schedule set for a LONG time. The classy thing to do is not cancel on next week's opponent last minute. Hope y'all had a strong, injury free night 'Cats!
  10. Thanks for the info! Anyone know anything about Franklin?
  11. Prayers from Ooltewah. Horrific. Please keep us updated.
  12. First and foremost, Rhea was the better offense / team than both DB and the Owls by far last year. I've never been shy about that. Now to your question. In short, yes. I admire college and pro schemes, so DBs OL in their system was incredibly impressive. Not to mention the fact that at least 2 of them signed scholarship papers. Rhea County's wing T functions as one 11 man unit, so it's harder to gage how good the OL was versus the other moving parts. I'm not knowledgable enough to break them down in that offense like I can the spread or pro style.
  13. Classy and educated answer, sir. I was by no means throwing mud on the Eagles; I know they'll be successful. The community would stand for nothing less. Ooltewah's athleticism will be a struggle for most teams, but the pads make a difference. Looking forward to our classic "Air Raid" vs "Ground and Pound" match up.
  14. Are you still losing 2-3 to North a year?
  15. WRP, I haven't heard anything from the Owls about this, but I'd be very interested in hearing what comes of it. Even if it isn't us, I'd love to know who, where, and when.
  16. I'm disappointed we aren't playing this year after 2 great games. DB had the best OL we faced last year; no doubt it'll be tough to replace. This will be one of the most interesting districts from 2nd place down and I can't see DB finishing worse than 3rd. Good luck all and stay healthy.
  17. I was shocked at the lack of numbers and athletes I witnessed at the 7 on 7 last night. I know the Eagles will rely on the run, but they usually have 5 or 6 studs and a full squad. Troll, did I catch them on a bad night?
  18. Ha! I got a kick out of it. I'd be more worried about the Owls if the corner would've cowered away. A fun moment in a good match up between two tough teams.
  19. Ooltewah looked very sharp today at the Maryville 7 on 7: Focused, sharp, and precise against good competition.
  20. Worth the drive up 75. The play by the big TE was a dandy. I think both teams got the most out of their match up. 2 TDs a piece, but the Owls grabbed three interceptions. Oak Ridge certainly passed the eye test and I hope we meet down the road when it counts. Until then, best of luck and stay healthy!
  21. WV looked inspired. Owls did not. But the Owls looked a lot BIGGER and the front 7 matters when it matters.
  22. True, but I believe both areas will be just fine this upcoming season. Looking forward to the scrimmages!
  23. I don't post much in the offseason, but couldn't resist this one. The district as a whole seems to be in a rebuilding phase, so your claim of two quality teams may be accurate at the moment. BUT this district has many quality PROGRAMS, Cleveland being the best example. Heck I was impressed with McMinn's game plan last year despite being greatly undermanned. In my opinion, Rhea wears the crown until beaten. I love what the Owls have this year. The veer offense is tough to handle, new or not. Walker has the most talented group of skill guys they've ever had. McMinn will be hardnosed and has 2 quality backs. Can't wait for Friday Night Lights!
  24. That he does! Will you keep us updated on the scrimmage tonight on the other thread or here?
