Usually the problem with dealing with a situation is too many chiefs and not enough indians. Problem here is too many indians and no chiefs. You want the TSSAA to take notice. Hire an attorney to look into the legalities of EVERYTHING they do. Class action suit may be a possibility to get them to change buiness practices or re negotiate the contracts. If schools banded together with one voice then the TSSAA would have to bend or be replaced.

Maryville should walk away with this one easy.

I think it is exceptionally important to play as hard a schedule as you can. If you don't challenge yourself then you never get better. Life and football. You learn much more from your failures than your successes.

5A Knox West without question until someone proves otherwise. They have played exceptionally well this season. 6A Oakland. Basically since the Creasy era began 8-9 years ago, all roads lead through the Boro. They are always very deep in the playoffs.

I think Oakland 49-14 with a running clock. Lebanon is a good team but not on that level yet.

Agreed. The government of CA has screwed up that state so bad that they are all moving here to TN. CA isn't a good example of anything worthwhile.

Heard the radio interview with Mt. Juliet player D. Morton while I was out at lunch today. His 2nd time to be the High School player of the week for 104.5 The Zone. Kid is obviously a great athlete and I remember well his first time on there this year. I would assume he has some interest from some D1 programs?

Sounds like it should be a competitive game at least. Wish I could see it. I'll be at the Oakland game doing my Friday night volunteer duties. Playing 1-9 Shelbyville. At least there should be a running clock.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one? Lebanon is 8-2 so they have had a good season and Riverdale is 6-4.

BarneySox, I will say that you have been very consistent on your concerns since before the season started and it has played out as you predicted it would. I also mentioned that I thought the program was in decline very early in the year based on my distant observations. Being a Oakland homer and sometimes Maryville troll though, I get no quarter or legitamicy and thats understandable and fair enough. All that said, I'll take you at your word about the lack of leadership and caring amongst the senior class there. I guess my real question is who is responsible for this? Would something like this happen under GQ? I think not. In the coaching world GQ was a man amongst boys in the high school ranks of coaching. Attitude of group of people on a sports team or business follows the leaders. In this case it's the responsibility of the coaching staff and that begins and ends at the top with DH. I know virtually nothing about the man other than a two minute convo I had with him after one of the Oakland/Maryville semis at Oakland under GQ. DH was very nice, very respectful and complimentary. He strikes me as a very stand up guy and I know he is a very good coach but he ain't GQ and therin lies the problem. As good as he is, he ain't GQ. With DH you will still get your state championships but it ain't going to be as regular as they were and the Maryville machine runs a little different now. Oakland before Creasy was a sometimes good and sometimes not so good team with a state championship maybe every ten years or so. Creasy, who won several state championships at 1A Trousdale county changed all that. It ain't just his modified wing T that is the secret to his success. It has to be a big part but it ain't the secret. I don't know exactly what the secret is but men like Creasy, Rankin and Quarles know how to get the best out of what they have. Be glad in the fact that ya'll had that man for so stinkin' long. I still expect to see Maryville in the semis because even in a down year they are better than 95% of the teams in TN. I hope Oakland makes it to the semis but realistically I don't know. They should be there but they have also shown they can be beat. Hopefully we both make it to the semis and this rivalry can continue. It's a good one.

Which if thats where they fit with enrollment which they have to then folks are gonna have a tough time with them. New coach there is doing a good job from what I hear and at least he ain't the old coach.

Don't know how long ago that was ya'll did that but it obviously worked out well. Ya'lls situation was the exception rather than the rule. Milan had a really good team several years ago and decided to move up to 4A from 3A mostly because they wanted to get away from Alcoa. 4A has not been kind to Milan and they are moving back after doing their two required years in 4A.

I'm assuming you mean these teams voluntarily moved from 5A to 6A? I must be missing something (likely) but why would you move from 5A to 6A? How could that possibly be beneficial for them?

I assume Maryville wins handily. But you know what? Those kids from Bradley are probably chomping at the bit to get their shot at Maryville on this perceived bad season for them. Bradley has something they don't normally have for this matchup. Hope. Without hope, nothing is possible. With it, everything is.

Pepvol is a big crybaby. Plain and simple and he really dislikes me. I really haven't even tried that hard. All I've done is state obvious facts that he doesn't want to hear. Stuff like Maryville isn't as good the last few years, teams aren't scared, West is good, Cleveland isn't, Bradley wants to beat you guys bad. Probably won't happen but it's as possible Friday night as anytime in the last however many years. Isn't there an ignore feature on this forum? Pepvol could use that so he wouldn't be so upset about my observations. He strikes me as the type that would have to use that feature?

So Maryville has this game wrapped up already? It's talk about parking and concessions. So if some miracle happens and 6-3 Maryville falls to Bradley, how far will yall drop in the region? 3rd place maybe 4th? Dang. Probably won't happen but who knows? Bradley did beat Cleveland and only have two losses on the year.

West has played great ball all year and the record shows it. Defense has only given up 66 points the entire season with most of those to one of the teams they beat. Alcoa. This West team has learned how to win and I would assume their confidence is at an all time high. Maryville has struggled this year by their standards. Two losses with one of those to an average at best team. I'm picking West.
