  1. Good thing, 6A/5A will be decided next year when we go to the 32 squad format. For RW, no disrespect but still a 5A squad that Whitehaven should have handled by more than 4 pts. That's what's wrong with this current system. A 6A squad that's elite (Whitehaven), should handle a 5A squad no matter how good. I remember in the day, we just had A/AA/AAA. Back then, no way a AAA squad loses to a AA team. Even the worst vs. the top. Now we have 8 champions.
  2. From the outside looking in ... MJ is too big not to have big time talent year after year. From what I've been told, a lot of kids are being transferred to DII-AA/A squads for playing time as freshmen/sophmores. Rutherford County is the place to live right now if you have any talent as an athlete in Middle TN.
  3. Boyd is having an off year. SP should win big. Was there in 2007 for the 52-20 championship win.
  4. Golden Football isn't going through West TN this year. 6A without a question will be East (Maryville), Middle (any school from Rutherford County) 5A Knoxville West/Ootlewah 4A Fulton/Pearl Cohn 3A Alcoa/CPA 2A Grace/Trousdale (yes, they will get their RB back in time for the playoffs) 1A Nashville Christian II-AA McCallie/MBA II-A Webb
  5. Coach Garner put up 41 in her first win. MJCA has only put up 46 pts in 5 games. Pretty safe bet going with Pickett County on this one. You would think even in the blowouts, the 'coveted' 8-0 freshman squad would have put up some points when they came in during the 4th quarter. Future might not be as bright as some think for this squad. Only time will tell. I'll agree with 'inthagap' though ... gotta respect the kids that keep going on the field week after week.
  6. Pitiful showing by Whitehaven against a 5A squad. No chance they go far after they get out of West TN in the playoffs.
  7. This was scheduled because that sorry program in KY, Bowling Green backed out of a home-for-home deal. McCallie finally broke up that home-bought win streak up in the blue grass state last week. For the Hoover game, it was a big one at the beginning of the year. Hoover was in the top 25 in the nation (USAToday) but has lost a couple. Not sure they are on the same level as Blackman now. Should be a good road trip for a squad that should be playing in Tucker Stadium (TTU) in December. Hopefully no injuries the last week of the season before the playoffs.
  8. 2 strong programs that are both headed to the playoffs. DCA beat FRA by 7 at home. FCS beat FRA on the road by 14. Webb beat FCS by 21 on the road though in the 2nd half FCS held Webb to 3 pts. Just looking at the math ... I agree. DCA loses by 30+. That's a long trip to watch that GA Tech FB run for 200+. Webb really should be playing DII-AA, not DII-A.
  9. Congratulations to Coach Garner with her first win in high school football. Coach Davis is still searching for that elusive first 'W'. Won't come this week against FCS so it'll be interesting in the showdown against Pickett County on October 10th if MJCA gets the first 'W' of the season.
  10. Best comeback in a long time for any squad in high school football this year. Glad I made the trip over from West TN to watch this one.
  11. 3 tough games coming for DCA ... Boyd, Webb, FCS. Boyd should be the easiest if DCA is for real. If not, Webb will make a statement as the number 1 squad in this district. The FCS game will probably determine who travels the first round of the playoffs. The good news for DCA though is the final 2 games of the season will give the starters plenty of time to rest/recover. In the final, just start your JV squad against MJCA and you'll be fine.
  12. Rutherford County is bursting with population and too many 5A/6A squads. Next year when TSSAA puts in the new 6A 32 team playoff system, hopefully the big boys like Riverdale will no longer have to fight the same squads in the playoffs that they do in the districts. Teams in West TN benefit from playing no one in the first couple of rounds while the Middle/East TN kill themselves over quality opponents that they battled already during the season.
  13. Because its been happening for years. Different officials, same home-cooking with the calls. Same thing happened to Blackman last year. Terrible, terrible calls. If its the same team but different officials, then its the teams problem not the officials. The coach/administration is making sure the 'right' officials are in place for out of state games.
  14. For what its worth, Fulton jumped over Maryville in USAtoday's national rankings for the first time this year: 31. Fulton, Knoxville, Tenn. (5-0) 32. Maryville, Tenn. (4-0) http://usatodayhss.com/rankings/expert/boys/football/2014/ Fulton is now the highest ranked team in Tennessee on this national poll.
  15. From the outside looking in, MJ just doesn't have the size. Blackman exposed them man for man on the line. Not many guys, other than sophomores, that are over 6'1 250. For a 6A squad, that's a real problem.
  16. This isn't the real 'test'. That will come on October 10th against Pickett County. Who gets the first win ... Coach Davis or the first female High School football head coach in Tennessee history? My money is on Coach Garner.
  17. Coach Wallace needs to get a better handle on his program then including the administration and everything related to this shady program. News travels fast amongst squads playing interstate programs. From what I'm hearing, not many will be heading to the southern part of the bluegrass state. Trinity however, keeps everything on the honest side so good luck to that squad and hopefully BG will not blackball your entire state.
  18. Milan is an historical powerhouse for West TN but not this year. The purple drop but the good news is this isn't a district game. CPA by 25+.
  19. 6A vs. 5A? Whitehaven if you can't take care of business don't even show up for the 3rd round of the playoffs against East/Middle TN. 2012 was a long time ago.
  20. 7 point win over WC is not a good win for this program looking towards the playoffs. Unfortunately, probably one and done after the first round. Not on the same level as the real players in 6A like Blackman, Maryville, Whitehaven .....
  21. Bowling Green is a sorry program for pulling out of the Blackman deal after buying home town refs last year. Congrats to McCallie for breaking up that home bought streak.
  22. Should have said 22 pts ..... Congrats TC.
  23. Great win and good point. Good luck against your makeup game against Hoover. Keep the players healthy for the next week in the playoffs BG is a sorry program.
  24. Also if Knox Fulton would play up, they would compete at this level. Lots of D1 prospects on a squad that is putting up 50+ points week after week.
  25. My bad, not the record but the Rankings. Maryville, Blackman, Oakland.
