What are they sinking money into? The facilities for football are some of the best around. Are you saying they may/ will replace coaches?

It will be interesting if Columbia Academy and Goodpasture make it and play each other.

What happened to Goodpasture? I've never seen a team/program fall off the map so quick. 2 years ago they were one if the best programs in the state in ANY classification and this was consistent for over 10-15 years. Can some of the GP people in the know fill us in?

I see the east being Grace and Westmoreland taking over TC place. I can't recall , but did Marion drop down to 1a? If not , they will have something to say about 2a as well.

I believe Watertown may be a little better than 7th place, agree Eagleville and Cascade will give Westmoreland the most trouble. However, see my comments in the Westy post, everyone thought GP would dominate when they went down from 3 to 2a, they couldn't even win the district much less be a state contender. It's not a sure thing, but I have to favor Westmoreland at this point due to competition they have faced over the last few years.

Has Signal Mtn lost kids to Red Bank? I see they are dropping down, is enrollment down from a few years ago?

I believe that Westmoreland will be in an interesting position for the next few years. You have to admit that for the last three years Westy has been very competitive in 3a with the likes of having to play teams like Whitehouse, CPA not to mention the other district teams which all were usually larger. Now comes the time to see if Westy can parlay this into serious contention for state titles in football. Dropping down does not automatically mean success. Look no further than Goodpasture to see how bad they screwed having almost guaranteed success in 2a into a complete Chinese fire drill of a program. Good luck, hope the fans in Westmoreland have well deserved success in the next few years.

This particular player may turn out to be a top recruit, but keep expectations in line. I know some parents in the past at said school who thought their daughter was all state before they hit HS and eventually the kid got burned out and lost interest. Also AAU is getting out if hand burning kids out.

Does BGA still have a girls team? I'm surprised they had a girls tournament.

Chief I looked at GPS website, they lost to JP2 in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Was JJ the coach then? Also I checked and the 2011 season was Reynolds senior year. I don't believe Tate played in 11 and 12 unless the NFL allowed him to come back to high school to play. I believe 12 was Martin's last year there as well. JJ may not have coached in 11 and 12, however if he did, these were impressive wins.

Fabs: How long was JJ at JP2? Was he coaching there when GP lost 2 straight years to JP2 recently? I believe Martin was still coaching at that time and one year GP had K Reynolds at QB. Must have a little something on the ball, if I am correct about his time there.

Thanks, did not intend to be offending in my question, just trying to figure out who is really in charge over there. In hindsight, it appears to from speaking to several associated with GP, if both sides would have given in a little and buried some pride, Martin would still be coaching. It was a big mistake to let it come to this. Martin may have had some things which rubbed people the wrong way, but no one could question his loyalty to GP. I still don't believe this years team would have won more than 2-3 games at the most even with Martin there, but I understand last years team had enough talent to win it all.

One other question I have that I overlooked adding to the previous post. Can you explain your point again because it is confusing. You state that the board should stay out of day to day decisions and they should only hire/fire the headmaster( agree). The next part is confusing, you say RP is running the show. Then you say you heard he has been taken out of the FB coach decision. If the board did not take him out, then who did? Is there someone above the headmaster at GP? I know the board is above him, but you said the board should not be involved, correct? This is not logical and hard to follow. The only way this makes sense is if the headmaster voluntarily excused himself from the entire process. Is this what happened?

Any updates on candidates? I don't believe the incumbent temp head coach will be considered since GP went scoreless in the three games he was in charge, however I could be wrong. Will a new coach be allowed to choose his staff?

It is hard to believe that one person, the headmaster, was solely responsible for "running off" Coach Martin, especially against everyone else associated with Goodpasture as you infer. You are telling me that the HS Principal was totally against getting rid of Martin, the AD was against this move. You don't mention the board of directors, but I assume they were 100% against this move as well? If your response is yes, this person, the headmaster, has total control of the school without answering to anyone, then who hired this person? Did he just appear via osmosis? Wow, it's amazing GP even exists!!! Again, I'm not saying that Coach Martin was and still is not a great coach, but let's not kid ourselves here, there has to be more folks with their hands in the cookie jar who run GP.

Agree 100 percent, my point is although Martin would have this team playing better than an 0-9 team, the talent is not there no matter Whoi is headmaster. Goodpasture is just not a good team right now.

Festus, who gets fired this week? The current head coach was on Martin's staff as DC, correct? What happened? What position did headmaster coach tonight? Even if Martin was still coach, do you honestly believe he or anyone else could do much better with talent on the field?

Who gets fired this week? I believe the current head coach was Martin's right hand man and DC. I guess this is the headmasters fault or the boards fault if you agree with Festus recent post. What position was the headmaster coaching tonight? It can't be due to lack of talent, can it? Even if Coach Martin was still there, honestly could this team compete? Whose fault is that?

Can you share any info? The question is not who will they target for HC, but the bigger question is will Goodpasture allow the HC to bring in some assistants who can coach football and also hire a HC who will not be worried about an assistant being just as good as he is.

I don't see any problem if Alcoa decides to stay in 2a, they don't have a moral duty to play up in 3 or 4a. The only disadvantage I can see in staying in 2a would be the players getting proper recognition from recruiters due to the lack of competition. Yes I know Alcoa plays Maryville every year, but week in and week out, the starters will be pulled by 3rd quarter and they won't face any challenge to show their skill level. Sure they may get noticed at camps, but seeing is believing when you compete against like kind competition.
