  1. I agree this is well deserved. CA has had a very good year and it will be interesting to see what happens at playoff time.
  2. A Goodpasture parent told me that they may not even have enough girls to have a basketball team. They lost several seniors and several of the good underclass girls quit the team.
  3. Do privates pay more than public schools to be members?
  4. Revcoach, from reading the paper this week it appears the interim coach was Martins right hand man for all those years. It will be interesting to see how the next three games play out. If the interim coach plays Maplewood to within a TD and beats the last two teams, he will have to be considered for the job. No doubt. However, if the team lays three eggs, you won't be able to blame the previous coach no matter how anyone spins this, especially considering the last 2 games are against a 1a and 2a team which Goodpasture should smoke in normal years. Should be interesting.
  5. The coach at McGavock looks like he is doing a super job, he coached at Lipscomb so I assume he is COC.
  6. Well said, you are 100 percent on target with what you said about BGA. Let them win 4-5 straight and people will easily forget Webb. Frankly I would like to see teams such as CPA, Goodpasture (once they get FB coach figured out) in the same division, would make for some fun debate!
  7. Will he be named full time similar to Lipscombs interim coach becoming head coach? What qualifications does he have? What happens if he wins all his games? If not, will they get Coach Martin back?
  8. Wow, will he coach the remainder of the year or is this immediate? Who replaces him if immediate?
  9. Understand to a degree, but which of the classes you mentioned has had one of four same teams in the finals for the last 12 years
  10. Well I guess you can discuss which of the 4 teams will play for the gold ball, this year you can most likely skip the playoffs and give Alcoa and CPA 4 weeks to prepare for the rematch. You agree?
  11. 3a football is the most boring division of any. For the last 10-12 years or longer only the following have been involved: Alcoa, CAK, Milan and Goodpasture. CPA has taken Goodpasture's place now. Why discuss? It will be earth shattering if one of the 4 mentioned are not in the finals again this year.
  12. Goodpasture should beat the rush and go D2 next year. Due to the location, they can attract 5-6 players in each class who would otherwise go to Maplewood, hunters Lane or Whitescreek. Add 15-20 players and you compete with anyone in d2-A including Webb. Money is not an issue since there are plenty of people who would support this financially. If all privates go D2 as expected, you better make the change sooner rather than later if you plan on competing with CPA who has raised the bar well over where Goodpasture is now. Funny that CPAs current success is indirectly related to Goodpasture due to the fact the previous football coach at CPA could not beat Goodpasture and CPA admin brought in I. Martin to beat GP. Fact is if GP wants to compete, will need to use the CPA model and spend the cash.
  13. I believe Heritage may take this one this year. I know both teams have had some injury issues this year, but I can't believe how Springfield handled WH last week. Right now I go with Heritage in a close game.
  14. There may be a riot over at Madison Square if RBS walks out with a victory!!!
  15. Smokestack, Any updates since the Lipscomb game? Saw the score on that one, did not look good for Goodpasture.
  16. Regardless of class or district or record, these are two of the most storied program in middle TN or even the state. This will always be a good game regardless and both sides should do all they can to see it is played every year.
  17. Sack master, saw your comment on the DC on another thread, who is the current DC at DCA?
  18. TCA I'm sure wants this game for bragging rights in Jackson, in the bigger picture TCA needs to avoid any major injury situation for the last half of the regular season. They will be a factor in playoffs if they can stay healthy.
  19. Strange last few years for Trousdale. Many thought last years team would be better than the prior year, but wound out undefeated state champs. Many thought this would occur this year. I know an injury or two has a negative effect on 1&2a schools, the positive for TC is that younger players are getting valuable play time and there should not be a drastic drop off when this years senior class leaves.
  20. Good point, the last ones I remember were the Wood brothers at UT and Vandy.
  21. Thanks, I'll look at the website next week and see if rankings are up.
  22. I'm wandering why the Green Wave is not the Green Wave we all know from the past. Has the other schools in the county taken that many good players away from Gallatin? When was the last time Gallatin had a player the magnitude of Malone or Hurd?
  23. Smokestack and Fabs and other Goodpasture sports fans can possibly answer this question. I know a person in the media who covers HS sports and this person told me that it was understood that after the 2012 class left, the talent level dropped significantly and Martin or whomever the coach was would have a hard time doing better than 500 for 3 years or so. I looked at the record last year (6-6) and it appears to match the talent on last years team going by what the media person told me.Was 6-6 spot on in your opinion? This year is rough, but what if the current coach finishes with 3-4 wins, does this match the talent on the team? I know this is not Goodpasture standards, but every program has a talent drop every now and than. Not defending, just asking.
  24. When does the TSSAA release the first playoff qualification standings. I can't recall but I believe they release after week 5? Anyone know?
  25. TSSAA is scared too death that they will loose a dollar if a split happens.
