  1. What teams across the state are playing week zero? Dobyns-Bennett vs. Elizabethton Who else?
  2. I guess if we are going that way......then I can safely say Johnson County won't have the top spot.
  3. What position does Daniel Kilgore play? I heard he was being looked at.
  4. What team do you think will rack up the most yards in 2005?
  5. Once again, I shall repeat myself for the people that obviously can't read. I have no sour grapes about the topic I started. Maybe you shouldn't get on here and say some of the things you say Vol.General. It was just a topic thought I hear a lot about.
  6. You would think Eliz. has more students than Unicoi. But there is 5 schools in Carter County and 1 in Unicoi County.
  7. Unicoi County has around 900 if you can believe it. Johnson County is playing up for financial reasons. North and East both have over 1000 so they fit just right in 4A. I think Eliz. doesn't want to move down because they might lose some money playing lower teams.
  8. They have always been 4A(Eliz.). They have never played in 3A. They have always challenged every team in 4A so they never thought of moving down. If they did move down, they could challenge Fulton for the state title every year. It came across like I was complaining and whining, but I'm not. I was just curious what others thought about it. I personally love watching Maryville play, and I would like to see how they would fare against the top 5A schools.
  9. I never said their size was the reason for their success. But I think there is more players to choose from with a school that has 1400. I'm no genius but it is kind of obvious that a school with 1400 students has a better chance of beating a school with 800 almost every time.
  10. I was looking at some records of school enrollment for last year. Maryville and Melrose both had over 1400 listed. That was tops for 4A football. Then there was Elizabethton and Johnson County that both had under 800. So Maryville and Melrose almost double Elizabethton and Johnson County's enrollment. I'm not saying that is the reason that Maryville and Melrose have excellent teams, but is it fair to the small schools that play 4A? I remember Elizabethton getting beat by Maryville two years in row in the state-semi's. I know it would be just as easy for Eliz. and J.C. to move to 3A. But I just think that they should lower the enrollment for 4A schools, then causing the big 4A schools to move up to 5A.
  11. I sure hope you're team backs up your big mouth. Both teams are really good, but you make Cloudland sound like they have won the past 5 state championships. You are really makin people one the mountian look bad with your arrogance. You might want to cool it a little.
  12. I think Cloudland will pull out a close game. The Cloudland QB looks really good. He has good size, speed and arm strength. He will be hard to stop.
  13. You're right, but a lot of high school teams don't play cover 2 that much, they usually stick with 3 deep or man. Even though I personally like cover 2 because I think it is hard for high school QB to read the flats and where the safety is playing.
  14. Are you sure about DB being the state's all-time winningest program? I would bet on Maryville or Riverdale to hold that record. Could you get some facts to back that statement? I'm sure some records would help me and some others to believe that.
  15. Winning a state championship at any level is hard to do. It is obvious that 5A is the hardest, it is the biggest, so of course it is going to be the hardest. When the schools are that big, it isn't hard to find talent.
  16. None of the three will make it to the quarterfinals.
  17. Another reason I think d-back is hard is because if they get beat, it is 6 points. If a linebacker or d-lineman get beat, the d-backs can still stop the ball, nobody is there to help the d-backs if they get beat.
  18. My personal thought will have to be between defensive back and quarterback. Both take a lot of skill. At defensive back, you can't just be strong or fast, you have to have a sense about breaking on the ball and close-in speed. Quarterbacks have to be able to read the field, something that high school QB's sometimes struggle with.
  19. Does anybody know for sure if DB is going to Wake Forest? Eddie Pless at Eliz. said they weren't on the list, but they could have filled in for another team.
  20. I have a question, is Elizabethton any younger than Tenn. High? Cause if you look at the players starting for both teams, Elizabethton has more returning starters, including their QB. Just a thought for you.......
  21. It is pretty obvious who the state favorites are, I just wish we could see these two teams play each other in Murfeesboro.
  22. But do you really think they can win the conference?
