  1. Summary of last night's game. 1.) Stone won. Nobody is surprised. They lead the entire game. 2.) Tessa Miller Dominated. 3.) Stone's Guards were better. 4.) Mike Buck much better coach. 5.) Cookeville's coach tried to run too much of the offense through her daughter. Made Graves & others non factors. - There won't be a rematch. Good luck next year in AAAA.
  2. Cookeville and White Co. are both very solid. And obviously either can beat Stone. But if Stone stays locked in defensively and knocks down "some" outside shots, it won't happen. Last night, mid 2nd quarter, the Stone student section started chanting "this is easy" ... "this is easy"... I looked at the Cookeville coach and if I read her lips correctly. She shrugged her shoulders, shook her head and said "yep, it is". I almost felt bad for them.... it was brutal.... But then I remembered us losing @ CHS and I was like (naw)... Pour it on!!!
  3. Lots of really good players in the state right now, but TESSA MILLER is the most dominate player in TN. (On both ends of the floor). Belmont got a steal.
  4. Keep an eye on Stone Mem. They are much improved from last year. Several returning key players. They are still young over all, but they play hard and are well coached.
  5. Or, if you read some of the dumb comments on here they could do this: Have only 1 class, PERIOD! Each school have only 1 team for each sport. Boys and Girls play together and if a girl can't make the team, then I guess she just needs to practice more. Then we can crown a school the "true" state champion in each sport every year. That sounds about as reasonable as some of these comments. Arguing for competion to be fair and equal is not the same as saying "everybody should get a trophy".
  6. This isn't about mommas & daddy's being happy. It's about the student athletes and it's about the TSSSAA taking a look at making TN high school basketball an equal opportunity sport for every school that participates. IMO, they should go to 4 public classes plus 1 private division. A school is either 100% public or they are classified as private. Put 25% of public schools in each class. You would then have 5 state champs, same number as you have now.
  7. Don't know if we need 6 classes or not, but their definitely needs to be more than 3. When u have some AAA schools with 1,000 students trying to compete with schools that have 2,200 students, most years it won't happen. When is the last time a Small AAA school won the State Tournament? It's not as big of a problem in the A & AA divisions.
  8. Congratulations to Riverdale. They are the Best team in the state this year, and probably will be next year. They have a ton of talent coming back. They were fun to watch. To answer your question, I never said anybody from 6AAA could hang with Riverdale in a state game. But I do think they would have had their hands full if they would have had to travel in substate game to Cumberland. Just like SC did when they traveled to Bradley Co. Bradley would have matched up with Riverdale much better in championship than OR. As far as punishing kids or team for what happened last year, that would be crazy. They got punished last year plenty. And in my opinion, they shouldn't have been punished at all last year. Just my opinion, I thought it was a strategy that gave them the best chance to win the state tournament. Last time I checked, that is the goal of every team. It's not to try to win a meaningless district consultation game. To my knowledge, I don't know of a rule that was broken by the Coach or a Player. It was just a strategy that some ppl didn't agree with or understand. TSSAA should change their tournament format if they don't want teams playing games that in some cases, they are better off losing. In life and in sports, sometimes you have to lose some battles to win the war. In this case, it obviously back fired.
  9. Maybe we will get to see Bradley vs Riverdale in the finals. Then we can compare apples to apples. I will take Bradley to win. Both teams are loaded with underclassmen & Both will probably be back to the State next year. Good luck to Bradley Co. this year.
  10. As i predicted, Riverdale had to win region and play at home to advance to the State. Stewart's Creek couldn't beat Bradley at Bradley and Riverdale wouldn't have won there either. Dont think SC could have beat Cumberland at Cumberlnad. Not sure RD would have beat Cumberland at Cumberland? Evidentially Cumberland played with RD through 3 quarters and their lack of depth due to foul trouble and poor shooting cost them in the 4th. After seeing Cumberland play Bradley in Region Championship, I knew they would lose at RD. Cumberland does not travel well or shoot well away from home. Congrats to RD and Bradley. Good luck at State.
  11. . Riverdale will beat Cumberland by more than 10 at Riverdale. Will probably beat them by 20. Cumberland needed to win the Region & play at home to have any chance against Riverdale. I will take Bradley to win a close one over Stewart's Creek. Home court is a huge advantage in all these sub-state games.
  12. 7aaa schools have an average enrollment of 1,777 students. Biggest is Oakland 1,933. Smallest is Stewart's Creek 1,691. The 3 smallest schools in 6aaa are Cumberland 1,051 Stone Mem 1,065 White 1,195. I would say there probably does need to be some reclassifying done. I'm in favor of at least going to 5 classes.
  13. . White Co boys made it to the State last year. Should be going this year, but they had 1 bad game on the wrong night. They could have beat Bradley Co 8 out of 10 times this year. Cumberland girls would have had a chance to beat SC in Crossville. They have Zero chance to win at against Riverdale in Murfreesboro, especially without their starting point guard. Cumberland had a good season and They will reload and continue to be the best team in this district for several more years.
  14. Congratulations to region champs Bradley Co. As much as i hate to say it, I agree with WARDAWG2038. Cumberland can't beat Riverdale at RvrDL. It Will definitely be a double digit win for RvrDL. They would have had at least a chance playing at Cumberland. IMO Bradley Co can and should beat SC in Cleveland. Will be a close game though. Good luck to both Region 3 teams.
  15. PLAY4FUN - Sophomore Howard @ Bradley is big time D-1. You name a school, and they are recruiting her. Juniors Hughes, McRee and Brown are D-1 players, all being recruited by OVC level schools. Senior Illes @ Cumberland Juniors Varney and Carlton are all OVC level players. And for the record, you quoted that Cumberland lost 2 times against Blackman this year. Well Riverdale and SC both lost to Blackman 2 times this year as well. Put Bradley or Cumberland in 7AAA and either team would do just fine.
  16. . Im not saying Cumberland or Bradley has superior athletes or better players. Who starts on a team would obviously depend on a specific coaches philosophy. Who would you start at point? A 6'1" long, physical Howard or 5'4" quick as lightening Hayes? What I said is that they have 3 players that "Could" start on any team in the state. Cumberland Co has 2-3 really nice players that could start on most teams too. Here is my point -- Riverdale and SC are gonna have their hands full, especially if they have to travel. 7AAA is not a lock to win the state championship this year and they are not even Guaranteed that any of their teams make it there.
  17. WARDAWG2038 - Cumberland did lose 2x to Blackman. They Lead them the just about the entire game at home until Dangerfield took over late in the 4th. She is capable of doing that to anybody. (Including Riverdale or SC). The Game wasn't really close at Blackman. Cumberland doesn't travel nearly as well as they play at home. Bradley Co has an extremely suffocating defense. They also have 3 players on their team that shoot lights out & could start for any team in the state. Bradley has a chance to beat any of the 7AAA teams on any court. Guess we can Wait and see. IMO both these teams have been underated by the polls all year and like you, most of the voters haven't seen them play either.
  18. . Enlighten you? Read my previous post, on this thread and the other 2 about 7AAA teams and you will be enlightened.
  19. Ive Seen Bradley and Cumberland play. I Know what they are capable of. And for the most part, I pretty much know what RvrDl and SC have and what they do. They are not bullet proof.
  20. . Do you think the All District players, if all were put on (1) team could compete in 7AAA ?
  21. . LOL. You are not the first person to tell that. Keep in mind, In 1998 #16 seed Harvard beat #1 seed Stanford. First round of NCAA tourney & That was a HUGE upset. But, This is gonna be more like in 2013 when #5 Louisville beat #1 Baylor. Not a huge upset, but really suprising to most people. Sometimes the big dogs go down and only a few ppl every see it coming before it has already happened.
  22. . LOL. I might be. But I've got a hunch that RvrDl & SC are gonna over look Cumb & Brdly this year. It's like when you fill out your March Madness college brackets. You gotta pick some upsets & sometimes after the upsets happen, everybody says "Dang, Why didn't I pick that team to win"? Don't be shocked if it happens.
  23. If Cumberland beats Bradley AND Riverdale beats Stewart's Creek tomorrow night in the Region Championship games, then 7AAA could very likely be shut out of the state tournament. Cumberland can beat Stewart's Creek at home AND Bradley can beat Riverdale on the road. Neither would be a real big upset. It's March and it's high school girls basketball!!!
  24. It's a very Realistic statement. Check their records, strength of schedule and margins of victory. Cumberland and Bradley have lost only 7 games combined. 2 of the losses were to each other (home team won both times). 2 of the 3 Bradley Co losses were their 2nd & 3rd games of the year (on the road) to 2 really good teams (Bearden & William Blount). Cumberland lost 2 reasonable close games to Blackman and dropped their 1st game of the year to a good Baylor team. If anybody from 7AAA (coach, player or fan) thinks they are gonna walk into Bradley Central or Cumberland Co and have a cakewalk to the state tournament, YOU ARE NUTTS! And, I guess we will get to if it is a realistic statement Saturday night. Both teams could beat either 7AAA team. If Cumberland plays at home would be mostly way it could happen (they shoot the ball so well at home). Bradley Co plays such great defense & shoots it well too, I'm not sure it matters where they play. With Blackman and Dangerfield out, the best player still playing in AAA plays for Bradley Central (Howard).
  25. Riverdale gonna need to beat Steearts Creek and win region championship if they want to make it to state. I don't see them beating Bradley Co OR Cumberland Co on the road in substate. May not even be able to beat either of them at home either?
