  1. I'm not too sure Red Boiling Springs or Gordonsville would rather come back to Livingston. I actually think with how screwed up TSSAA did these 2 districts/region, Red Boiling Springs and Gordonsville might be closer to East Robertson than to Livingston.
  2. I don't see any favorites here. Pickett, Summertown, Greenfield, or Huntingdon might have an edge on paper, but as they say "we don't play games on paper." Unaka might have double digit losses but they played South Green tough this year, and we all know how good South Green is. Pickett won this tournament in 1989 with 17 losses, barely had a winning record when state started. I doubt anybody worried too much about them on the Monday the brackets came out.
  3. I guess that's one way to look at it. Fact is, you have to beat 3 good teams to win state. Which 3 you play you can't control. No use worrying about things you can't control.
  4. Unaka, Wartburg, Pickett, Moore, Summertown, Huntingdon, Greenfield, Dresden is my guess. I really don't know much about the Memphis teams or East Tennessee teams. I've seen some of the Moore County team at AAU events and I think they will be tough to beat at home. I don't think the Memphis single A schedule is on par with Dresden/Greenfield, but BTW played a lot of out of state teams and you never know how good those teams were, maybe really good? Who knows.
  5. If you had actually been there to have actual firsthand knowledge of what happened, then you would know that's exactly what happened from the end of the 1st quarter until the end of the game. It's a 1 win team in a weak Chattanooga single A district. I'm not downing them at all, but that's the truth. I thought they played hard and I really respect the effort they gave against a superior opponent with the outcome never in doubt. That's pretty hard to do, in case you've never had to experience that. I have and it sucks. I don't put much stock in polls but I think most would agree Pickett is one of the top 10 teams in the state in single A. Hardy had 7 players dress, I think. I really don't think you should be downing Pickett over a ballgame you didn't see, but that's just me, I guess.
  6. Please enlighten us on what "things" could have been done, based on your absence from the gym during the game and complete ignorance of the events in question. I guess the starters could have sat for the entire game?
  7. I mean, the starters played the 1st quarter and 4 minutes in the 3rd. Subs played the 2nd quarter and from the 4 minute mark in the 3rd until the end of the game. Didn't press after the 1st quarter. Stayed inside the three point line on defense from the 2nd quarter until the end of the game. Not much else you can do. Were you there, Indian?
  8. Yeah my bad, wasn't thinking that thru. I don't know, Clarkrange has laid a few eggs on the road this year...that one may be the best game of the 4. Hard to predict.
  9. The question for me is how good are the Goodpasture girls? They seem to be playing better than their record would indicate, particularly of late. RBS is improved, I think they are well coached (from the 4 games I've seen them play), but Clarkrange is a tough place to get a win, particularly in a win or go home game. Jackson and Pickett should win, Jackson with a tougher game on paper at least. I think Clay gets it done and all 4 7A teams come back to Livingston.
  10. Yes but it was about fan control in both the incidents I cited above, too. In both cases, one that occurred before the Pickett-York incident, and one that occurred after, only probation for 2 years. No postseason ban, and no postseason sanctions of any kind. Yet, for Pickett-York, initially both boys teams banned from postseason for one year, then on appeal changed to no postseason games at home for 2 years for the entire athletic department of Pickett, along with other sanctions regarding student attendance. It was even worse for York boys, with complete postseason ban for what amounted to 3 years. Please read about both incidents posted above (not from just me, look at what google will turn up) and tell me what was different about the Pickett-York incident to justify a departure from previous TSSAA sanctions. Not complaining about getting punished, which was justified, completely, just wondering about the lack of consistency from TSSAA.
  11. Can't argue with that, not at all. Really have a hard time figuring out what the motive was behind this particular punishment. Regardless, congrats to the Lady Bobcats on winning the district. They travel to Gordonsville on Friday in a rematch of last year's opening round of the region.
  12. Yes it's true no home tournament games this year. Punishment doesn't fit the crime, but what can you do? For a fight between Maryville and William Blount boys basketball last January, which involved student athletes as well as fans, only fines and probation were issued, with no post-season restrictions. Wonder what the difference was? The Knoxville News-Sentinel has the letters from TSSAA to the individual schools posted if you want to check my facts. In 2010, Lawrence County and Shelbyville had an on the court brawl between members of the Shelbyville boys' basketball team and the Lawrence County fans. No members of the Lawrence County team were involved. (Sounds just like the Pickett County-York incident, doesn't it?) Result? Fines and 2 year probation, no post-season punishment. Again I wonder what was different about the Pickett County situation? Do a google search to confirm, if you want. Anyway, yes, there will be no games at home this year for Pickett. Water under the bridge, I suppose. Still, the lack of consistency in punishment is irritating, or interesting, or whatever you want to call it.
  13. Thanks for the info. Was really impressed with the team last year, expect more of the same this year. Hope the best teams make it to the glass house, several really strong teams from all over the state have a chance.
  14. pioneer, how would you compare last year's Middleton team to this year's? I know the one girl was hurt (UTM signee?) during the state tournament last year, and last year's tournament MVP is back this year, I think? Did that team lose anybody else? I really thought PC had them beat going into the 4th quarter, but Middleton really played well and pulled it out at the end by 5.
  15. Joe is a good coach, but I think he needs the crop of players at HS junior high currently to be competitive in this district. Once they arrive, look out...they are good.
  16. They are pretty young and losing Smith hurt. Then losing Meadows right before the season started, hard to replace that kind of production. That being said, Crouch is back from her knee injury, and shot the ball well against PC the other night. There was another young player or two that have skills, so I expect them to improve as the season goes on.
  17. Where is the YouTube link? You know, so we can all see these "obvious" shady falls. How many again were there? Please post the link. We are anxiously waiting. Shady/dirty? I don't think that means what you think that means. Fake charges to pull foul shots, huh? Put your money where your mouth is...lets see some clips to back up what you are whining about. By the way, how many points did PC score on free throws from all those fake charges? At least 15, to hear you talk, since that's how many you got beat by. Oh that's right, you don't actually shoot free throws for offensive fouls, so...
  18. Well that settles it. No need to play the games. We can all just go home and get ready for next year. 90warrior has spoken, and so it shall be. "Pitiful" PC did beat Clarkrange this year, you know. And White County did beat Pickett by 30 at Sparta, but it was a much more difficult win at Byrdstown, and you know it, if you were there. Not sure what your agenda is, but you take every opportunity to down Pickett, at least over the past 3 months that I've seen your posts.
  19. So the kid in the Jackson County jersey sitting in the Jackson County student section flashing his phone at the player on the free throw line isn't from Jackson County? Did you look at the pictures I posted? Why bring up Pickett County's student section from last year? You called someone a liar, and stated certain "FACTS" that are not supported by photographic evidence. Fact is, I think you owe bobcatfan300 an apology.
  20. There are three fans seen flashing their phones. One of them has on a Jackson County jersey. All three are sitting in the Jackson County student section. Now, I don't think the entire student section should be banned, and to some extent, gamesmanship by the student section on free throws is a part of the game. But neither should you declare someone a liar when you didn't personally witness the event, as these pictures clearly show the events as bobcat300 spelled out, for the most part. Anyway, water under the bridge, as they say. Good luck to all teams in region play.
