  1. I think Trenton's got a really good coaching staff and they'll have the team ready to play. Just feel like you have to open up the playbook a bit more and get more players involved offensive for a dynamic look. That's how you compete with top level teams.
  2. Defense was out on the field most of the game and was spent, that's related to inability to move the ball offensively
  3. You can talk about how much Trenton has to play for this week all you want and playing with a sense of urgency and all that jazz, all good points. Bottom line, if their offensive play calling doesn't improve and keep them on the field, They won't put up enough points to compete. Looked like a Mike Debord offense against McKenzie.
  4. I mean it makes for more entertaining regular season though on the positive end.
  5. One more scenario. Trenton can make the playoff with a win over either TCA or Adamsville and if McKenzie loses to UC and Gibson County. McKenzie would finish with 4 region losses and Trenton would have 3 and get the fourth spot. Highly unlikely but theoretically possible
  6. Huge win for Mckenzie. This takes them from being out of the playoff picture to controlling their own destiny with 2 games left.
  7. And I think there is still a possibility in this region to have a 5 way tie with each team losing 2 region games (Adamsville, Trinity, , UC, McKenzie, and Trenton). But Mckenzie would have to win out against UC and Gibson County and Trenton would have to win out against TCA and Adamsville. Then what would be the tiebreaker!
  8. This turns the region upside down. Now Peabody has to win out just to make playoffs and they play TCA and Adamsville back to back.
  9. Not sure about where Adamsville is at at this point in the year but there is so little room for error defending the veer and as long as UC wins the time of possession battle, just don't see them getting beat in this one. They really wear you down in the second half
  10. Haven't seen McKenzie but based on results of each team and recent history, got to go with the Tide in this one. 31-14. Should be interesting to see Trentons next 3 games (McKenzie, Adamsville, TCA). One of the 4 wont be in the postseason
  11. With that being said, I do believe Dresden's team last year could have won 2a state, and I definitely think Huntington would be a state title contender in 2a this year as well. Two of West TN's best programs
  12. I personally think it is better to be in 2a based on better gate, better games week in and week out. While constantly being a state championship contender in 1a would be nice, that schedule was miserable outside of about 2 games per year. Also, personally the way 1A is lined up now without schools like Trenton, UC, etc, it really isn't a great achievement to bring home the gold ball for schools like Dresden and Huntington. Kind of a hollow victory if you will. this isn't those schools fault, it's just where the meter lies. The gold ball might as well be a gold cupcake.
  13. From what I've seen thus far UC, Waverly and Peabody are definitely major threats to make it to Cookeville. I feel like Adamsville is better than their record, 2 of those losses are to bigger schools and from what I heard TCA is a lot better than expected. Personally, I definitely think both of these teams are in the mix and could end up going deep in the playoffs too! This region is loaded.
  14. With the departure of Union City and Peabody from 1A, this past year, getting to the the quarterfinals for Huntington and Dresden year in year out will be a cakewalk, even during down years. Maybe with the exception of Lake Co this year, evidently they are on the upswing
  15. Regarding Dresden injuries, if they truly do have 10 or 11 out, I'll buy that would change how you compete. Definitely would be hard to overcome. However.... let's be real, there's no Winn, Yates, etc on that sideline this year that would sway the game like the Malone boy did for Trenton 2 years ago, so I don't think Dresden would have won the game without injuries, which by the way is part of the game. Btw, it's completely normal to take a step back for a year or so at a small school after your "30 year team" graduates. I'm sure Trenton can vouch for that with last year's season.
  16. Good luck Tornadoes, bring a W home. Spend that money
  17. Haven't seen Dresden play but this is a rivalry game and both teams usually bring it. a lot of people taking Trenton in this one and rightfully so, they are having a good year. However, don't think it will be a blowout by any means. I'd go 27- 14 Golden Tide
  18. You know it may just be me but I've seen Milan lose a handful of times In the past few years and in all of those games, when they were behind and the clock running, it seemed like they always had someone fall out on the field with cramps. Personally, I think it's gamesmanship.
  19. Good game to watch, came down to the wire. UC still runs a very effective veer and it definitely looked like it took its toll on the Trenton defense especially in the 4th quarter. I don't know the stats but I would imagine the UC time of possession and first downs was up there. Trenton played a hard fought game and was definitely going through an adjustment period with the offensive changes due to injury, unfortunately UC is a hard team to do that against. This region is hard to get a read on after this one and TCA Beating Adamsville!
  20. I think we are agreeing. I think it will take UC best game to beat Trenton too, I guess what I'm saying is no excuses or "what if's" no matter the outcome. It is what it is......its football and injuries are a part of the game
  21. Injury/ No injury, I've seen both these teams play and it would take all Trenton's got to beat UC even when healthy based on how UC's teams usually are. Hopefully it will be a good game!
  22. In all honesty, it's hard for me to put anyone from the east up in the top 5 just based on their performance in the state championship the past 3 years
  23. Historically Milan is the team to beat no problem agreeing with that, especially is the last 3 decades. Saying that Trenton was more focused on this game than Milan kind of lacks credibility. These guys play one game a week, it's not like a trap game. If you don't prepare to play to win, that's on you, that's not an excuse.
  24. To go further I still think you don't need to place a great deal of stock in the outcome of this game win or lose in the 3rd game of the year when you have a high likelihood of meeting again in 2 months which by then this game might not even be very relatable.
  25. I agree in the fact that Trenton has good lineman And that makes a difference against a run heavy team like UC. However, defending against the scheme Milan setup in and defending against the Veer are two different things...so not sure you can completely relate the two. Trenton got a huge win against Milan, and proved a lot of people wrong about how good they can be, no doubt. But it is way too early In the season to expect consistent results and plan out how the season will unfold all based on one Friday night. That's just unrealistic, and in high school football things change on a dime all the time. A good example of that was the 2015 season between these teams and Dresden.
