  1. Totally different circumstances. He did not have to come back home and rebuild the program. Maintaining status quo and rebuilding 2 entirely different challenges
  2. I think the appearance of this is all good and all but the question that will never be honestly answered is....would they have done this if the fight had never occurred or is this just an attempt to go back to TSSAA as a look at what we have done. Motive behind the effort is just as important as the effort IMO.
  3. Did UTC get new turf. If not the. Their turf is bad. Memphis is a dump and should never host anything especially the way their leadership handled this past season
  4. Exactly. And the turf at Chat is one of the worst I have ever seen.
  5. Not so sure that FC athletes are as good as they think they are. That seems to be some of the problem down there. Good ole by politics which is how this coach got the job and entitlement amongst the team. Not a good remedy for success.
  6. NPA has become the recruiting epicenter of Metro. What better gig is there. Make tons of money selling kids as the next big thing, recruit kids to your school and make money doing so.
  7. So 1 out of all the schools. My point was that sometimes it is a lot harder as a hometown boy to build a great program
  8. Why in the world do parents not get more involved and outspoken to help these coaches out? They ultimately control the school board and can demand more importance be emphasized on athletics. Absolute shame for those kids.
  9. In all honesty he should be given a good 5 years. Starting a program from scratch is harder than most think
  10. Take the Top 3 programs in the state. I would say Maryville, Alcoa and Oakland. Do any of these have home town head coaches running their programs? Is there any successful program in the state have a hometown man running the program. I know around here Hughes at Fairview does a good job but I would not count them as an elite program in any way. Martin here at SH but that has been a nightmare. Any others?
  11. To make matters worse he had to deal with a family tragedy. Personally I think he is a good coach and seems to be a very good man. I wish nothing but the best. I know he lost one coordinator to Franklin County. Where did the other go?
  12. I. Lie e I read somewhere that the principal was college room mates with the head football coach as well. So he hired a couple of buddies. I can remember though that everyone was saying the Coach Rice was one of the rope 4-5 coaches in the state at the time.
  13. Can't argue the numbers and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about either man as I have no clue who they even are. I would argue that they are doing those things with great talent that other teams do not remotely have.
  14. True I guess that is fair. i would bet that most of not all head coaches would claim that they have an assistant that is the "best" due to the work they do. But never the less I see your point.
  15. Because there are no other good assistants in the state?
  16. Thank you. Any word on why they are moving to the area?
  17. I may have missed it but did anyone or can anyone tell me the name of this kids transferring to Ravenwood. Would love to see what is coming to the area
  18. Boy I bet there are a lot of names out there. Assistant coaches are the key to a good program.
  19. Lost...maybe the solution to competition should be throwing ALL privates into 6A and then reclassify from there
  20. I don't think reducing the number of classes and creating more school with smaller numbers that would be at the bottom of those classes is the answer either. In your scenario you would add 30 more schools into the 4A class with enrollments in the 1300-1400's playing the current 6A schools. How does that hel competition
  21. It's not like the East just has tons of top teams. They have 2 in Oakland and Maryville. Nobody else is even a threat. If you could take those 2 teams out then 6 A is very even across the state. I wish TSSAA would have separated Oakland and Maryville for next 2 years. I also liked the old z Plan helped to prevent this
  22. So what ever happened to Coach Story? I ran into him many many years ago at a UT game but not sure it is same one
  23. He better be good after seeing the transfer that ended up at Ravenwood
