  1. It looks like Westmoreland is the favorite in this one. Macon will have to fix their run defense to have a chance. Early prediction is Westmoreland 27 Macon 21.
  2. Smith is for real. Macon had several playing their first ever varsity game and it showed. The game was about what I expected. I think I said 35-20 Smith. Macon will get better each week. Barring injuries they still go 7-3. Congrats to Smith County. They may not lose a regular season game.
  3. TC 21-7. The jury is out on Lebanon's defense. Reports make it sound like they are decent, but scrimmages and games are completely different. I stick with my score, but it could be 35-7 if Lebanon is who I really think they are.
  4. White House was not as bad as their record indicated last year. They are still well coached, just lacking a playmaker or two that they had in the past. Give me White House 31-14.
  5. Pearl Cohn names the score. Brunetti is not one to call off the dogs so this could be ugly.
  6. Would all of those not be falling back from 13-1? Do I need to draw you a picture? I figured being the son of a coach you would understand 7-5, 9-3, and 6-5 would be falling back from 13-1.
  7. Watertown is big especially at the skill positions and presents some mismatches for Gville. If Gville can control the clock and keep Watertown in third and long situations they can win. As for me, I still think Watertown is too much. Give me the purple Tigers 28-21.
  8. Back on topic, how many players does Smith have this year? It is going to be hot tomorrow night, so depth will come into play.
  9. Yep and week 1 the previous 10 years belonged to Macon. TC would occasionally play week zero as would Macon, but for 10 straight years "week 1" was TC and Macon. What caused that to change between 2014 and 2015?
  10. Please see the schedule below. Looks like a real tough one. LOL! Creasy scheduled down, there is no doubt about it. Date Opponent Result Fri Aug. 21 7:00 PM at #22 Westmoreland W 13-7 Fri Aug. 28 7:00 PM at Clay County R W 33-0 Fri Sep. 4 7:00 PM #12 Upperman L 14-34 Fri Sep. 11 7:00 PM #15 Jo Byrns R L 14-20 Fri Sep. 18 7:00 PM Gordonsville R W 35-0 Fri Sep. 25 7:00 PM #20 Monterey R W 42-21 Fri Oct. 9 7:00 PM at Pickett County R W 41-6 Fri Oct. 16 7:00 PM at Middle Tennessee Christian R W 39-21 Fri Oct. 23 7:00 PM at Red Boiling Springs R W 42-7 Fri Oct. 30 7:00 PM #1 Nashville Christian R L 14-43
  11. Don't care if you buy it or not. What other explanation is there? Macon will fall back and be about like Upperman after they lost their all world QB. As long as the administration leaves the staff alone Macon will continue to win 4-6 games a year and every 3 or 4 years win 8 or so. I am a realist and understand where MC fits in the scheme of things. I will give you Gallatin but Lebanon is garbage. There is no doubt our region is much more favorable now than it was before.
  12. Croz you are spot on. There is no doubt TC and Gordonsville are both historically better programs than Macon. That's what makes it even more embarrassing for TC. We all know no matter how good or bad Macon is, they will most likely be your best gate of the year. Macon ended a 14 game win streak for TC who was coming off a state championship. Macon did this with a bunch of sophomores and freshmen. TC knew they were going to get boat raced the next two years so they avoided Macon. There is no other logical explanation. I do understand all of TC was not scared of Macon, but you can't deny that the person making out the schedule wasn't and that man was Kevin Creasy. I will say, it would be pretty embarrassing for a TC head coach to lose to Macon three years in a row with the rich history and athletes TC has produced. Creasy may have feared what Clint would do or say had this happened so he left MC off the schedule. Smith County has the edge if this things turns into a track meet.
  13. Good question RTD. TC should never be afraid to play Macon, but the truth is Creasy and TC dodged Macon after the loss in 2014 on the creekbank. He knew what was coming the next two years and tucked tail and ran. TC and Macon had played the same week of the season for several years so there should have been no scheduling conflicts. Macon had to schedule a team coming off a 1 point loss in the KY 6A state championship game that was 3 hours away. I am sure they would have much rather played TC. It really is embarrassing that any TC team would avoid Macon but the truth is you did. TC is loaded again and now you want to put Macon back on the schedule. This thread is about MC and Smith. This is shaping up to be a good game. If MC can limit the impact King and Shepperson have on the game they win, if not it could be a long night.
  14. Macon's pass defense is very suspect. Had several pass interference calls last week against Gville. If Macon couldn't cover Gville, no way they cover King and Shepperson. Smith wins 35-20.
  15. I don't buy into the whole 2A versus 4A thing. It could be an advantage if you had a bunch of extra players, however Macon will dress 35-40 kids this year. Historically, Westmoreland is a much better program than Macon so why is classification only an issue if Macon wins? In reality, Macon has the kids to be a 2A program. It's about athletes. Westy used to have quite a few and Macon not so much. The roles have changed. Wait a year or two and it will probably revert back. Either way, I wouldn't get on coacht running my mouth if I were a Westy fan. As bad as Macon has been in the past, I don't think an MC coach ever went to the opposing locker room at halftime and asked for mercy... now that is embarrassing right there.
  16. Congrats to Seth Carlisle on his commitment to TN Tech!
  17. They can go 10-0. They could also go 6-4. I think they just need some consistency and they will be fine. Right now they are moving guys in and out seeing what works. No adjustments are being made scheme wise. QB is off limits from running, so there is your number 1 option on offense not being used. Once real football starts they will look much different. Week 1 will probably define the season. Win that and 10-0 is a possibility. Lose and there are probably 2-3 more games that could trip up the Tigers.
  18. Macon may not win a game. Their QB has ran for 5 yards in the first two scrimmages and their nickel defense is allowing too many rushing yards. LOL! If the Tigers stay healthy they will be just fine. Definitely a different team from last year, but come week 10 barring any injuries they will be right there in the thick of things for the district championship. Don't put too much stock in scrimmages.
  19. I would like for everyone to please say a prayer for my good friend Charlie. He is the biggest Tiger fan I know and is currently in the hospital. He fell off a ladder earlier this week and broke some bones. He will be fine, but I don't think he will be able to make the trip to Clarksville on Friday. He asked me to wish the players and coaches luck and to bring back a victory!
  20. The punter you speak of also plays LB and WR. The WR is a starting CB. There are more banged up. Macon still can win, but they will not roll as some have stated. Also, where is this depth you speak of? I can count about 18 kids that play meaningful snaps. When we sub at the end of games, our backups get killed. There is not much depth to this team. Macon has never won a road playoff game in the history of the school. I am pulling for a Tiger victory, but realistically see NW winning.
  21. This is a long trip for a first round playoff game. I hope there is enough gas left in the Trousdale County gas reserves to get the team there. With that being said, Trousdale can win this game, but I am picking Huntingdon 28-14.
  22. Macon has too many injuries. Northwest's speed is the difference. NW-34 MC-21
  23. The Macon County 100M all-time record is around 11.50 seconds. Speed kills folks and that is what will doom the Tigers on Friday. UC Man is partly right. We do have a couple of skill kids that can run with you guys. The difference is in our LB's, DE's, and lineman. Pearls guys are big and can run too. Macon's linemen are big, but can't move at all.
  24. Vaughn will be the fastest player on the field. Macon has a good team this year, but not on the level of pearl.
