Once this freshman group is seniors or even juniors, I think they will make another run like the 03’ team. The group is unbelievably talented in all aspects as long as they stick together. As for this year, I believe MC will compete with Upperman for the region title. DeKalb is going to be younger but still have loads of talent. LA will be young this year and Stone I’m not so sure what they have coming back. Can Cumberland make some noise in the region this year or will they be the same ole Cumberland County? MC has more of a local schedule this year as they open with Taylor Groves and East Robertson. And they will play old time rival Portland again this year as well as Westy, TC, and Smith. MC will be tougher than most think even with the losses of this past years seniors.

The Tigers come off a 7-3 season while finishing second in the region for the third time in four years. The Tigers lose some quality players in the skill and lineman position, but return key players in QB Braydee Brooks, WR/DB Cameron Houston, OL/DL Mason Swindle, along with many others. MC looks to be on the rise under Shoulders, and they have a great Freshmen group coming up that dominated throughout middle school. The region shakes up very slightly as Upperman enters the region. However, the playoffs will look different as we will head southeast to the Chattanooga area. Thoughts?

Looking forward to Upperman and MC playing in football once again. This fairly new rivalry keeps getting bitter and bitter each year. It’s always a fun night when Upperman and Macon face off.

Lookout for Macon in about three years. Macon has a ton of talent through the junior high and elementary. MC will reign again just will take time.

MC overcame a ton of adversity. Picked 3rd in the district by some. Lost Keeley Carter and others after last years heart breaking end. And got it done with 5 players. Credit to Larry White. You can now say he will go down as one of the greats! PROUD TO BE A TIGER!

Gotta get past a pretty good Meigs team first. And I think Macon might have something to say about that if they get to the championship game.

Central has had years of success. No doubt about that. Central can compete night in and out because Johnny Morgan is one of the best their is in the state. They would probably be in the top 4 in 8AA in my opinion this year.

The last time these two met, MC beat Central 69-53 the year MC was in the championship game. Then the year before that MC had a young Keeley Carter and defeated them when they were number one in the state.

Going to be a fun night in Nera tomorrow night! Hoping to see both teams come out of it healthy and obviously hoping for a 5TH consecutive appearance in Murfreesboro for the Tigerettes.

I see Central going on the road. And York MC is a toss-up and could go either way.

Guess Akira was more of a loss than they ever realized a few years ago. Can’t say she didn’t carry the bees from Baxter during her career. Haven’t competed in a state title game since then.

Totally agree with you on that one. I think matchups will be: McMinn Central @ Upperman Macon County @ Meigs County Macon could pull off the win in Baxter if they can play a consistent game like at the end of the regular season. I think Central could also pull out a win against Meigs as well.

I believe it’s going to have to take a great night all round from Cumberland and MC play bad. Cumberland had already gotten beaten twice by York and once by Livingston. I think it’ll be a good game, but I think MC will pull away unless our shooting is off. MC has a goal and it’s determined to get back to Murfreesboro.

Obviously hoping to see MC and Upperman in the ship lol.

Beside Meigs, who has the better chance of making it to next Saturday in region 3?

I’m kinda hoping to see a Westview, JSS, Macon, and Upperman final four with all this hype, trash talk lol.

Every game is different. Livingston is an up and down team. They are either really hot or really cold. Could’ve had a bad night and Livingston didn’t pick it up until mid-way through the season. More than likely Meigs and Central is going to see Macon and Upperman unless something drastically happens.

It’s going to be tough for MC to come into Baxter and leave with a W. It most certainly can be done as it was at the end of the regular season, and it will take another all around game to come out with a W for MC. Could be anywhere from a really good game or Upperman could run away with it.
