  1. Both of the teams that we played in the division, Davidson Academy and Nashville Christian, were good games. Davidson Academy was close. So was Nashville Christian the 1st half. If memory serves me correct it was NC 7 - CA 0 at half. NC made some great adjustments came out and was able to shut CA down. Hats off to them for that. No matter what happens to them this year (and they are doing well) look for them to be one of the top 2 or 3 teams next year. They are a young and a BIG team. They have a QB issue. If they get that solved, look out. Friday night will be interesting to say the least. CA desperately needs a win. I look for all stops out effort.
  2. I hope it will be a good game for both teams. I'll just leave this here. CA lost what would have been there starting QB 2 nights before the 1st game. He's out for 4-5 weeks. Their QB now is a sophomore and is gaining experience every week. CA played last years state champion, DA, very tight. Mental mistakes have been killers. I venture to say I wonder how many teams in this division would have beaten their first two opponents Marshall County and Shelbyville???
  3. It's early but Tre Davidson @ CA should get a look.
  4. Shellacking! I like that. CA JV comes back tonight from a 22-7 deficit at halftime to beat Forrest JV 29-28. Just in case you care.
  5. There's some tough teams in there undefeated.
  6. You should NOT take Lipscomb lightly. They have played some really good teams. Unfortunately someone has to loose. I truly believe playing tougher competition makes you better!!
  7. Nashville Christian W 21-14 Spring Hill W 35-15 Summertown W 35-0 Lipscomb Academy W16-10
  8. I think Forrest by 7 but it will be a close game. Forrest should not take Summertown for granted. Last year was last year. Summertown is better.
  9. I think you can call a team "elite" at the end of the year, that's it. However, to say that those wins were not impressive is silly. I assume you feel the same way about Union City (you remember, last year's state champions), as they are 0-3 so far this year? I think those who have played them so far wouldn't dismiss them. Let's ask our Peabody friends who played them last week. Can't say much about Peabody just because UC is 0-3? I don't think so. As far as Summertown is concerned, they came to play. Maybe CA wasn't as focused as they should have been first half. There was homecoming. Maybe football players were thinking more of walking pretty girls instead of playing football. But you can't take anything away from Summertown. They came into the game 2-0 just after knocking of Wayne Co. But like any good team, CA made adjustments after half. It wasn't really even close the 2nd half. Will CA be considered an elite team? We'll see after Cookeville. Until then, they are a very good team but have formidable opponents ahead.
  10. Wins against NC and SH don't look as impressive? That's funny right there.
  11. Look for Cornersville in Cookeville when it is over. They ain't no joke!
  12. Run the ball. Establish the run game. Make someone stop you. Pound and pound and pound. It wears your opponent down. CA has run the ball very well so far this year. By the 3rd and 4th qtrs. you can see the wear and tear on the opponent. Same that happened to CA against UC. By the end of the game, it was obvious what effect the pounding had had.
  13. Don't look past Summertown. CA came out flat and struggled the first half. Maybe it was too many distractions with Homecoming. Summertown came to play. After the half and adjustments, CA never looked back.
  14. Thoughts and prayers for the team, staff and community on the loss of one of their coaches from a heart attack. Early 30s
  15. I think CA learned a lesson from Union City last year. Pound them into the ground!
  16. No doubt it was a fumblefest. No doubt the outcome COULD have been different, but it wasn't! As far as the cramping was concerned, it affected both sides. YES the refs weren't very good. NC broke the huddle with 12 one time and when CA protested the female ref said, "oh yeah, they can do that if the player is running to the sidelines." No lie. I was standing beside her when she said it.
  17. How so? Just getting in and out? Visiting fans park almost at the bleachers. Heck if you are early enough you can park and sit in your car and watch from many spots.
  18. Ummm nope! Did I say we won??? Im just pointing out a fact that late in a scrimmage or a jv game you tend to see a lot of other younger players. I've seen a lot of teams keeping in their starting teams all night. Again, maybe the coach thought they needed the work. Im just thinking about the other 30+ kids on the sideline that will never get to play. And btw, looking forward to being there. Should be very interesting!!
  19. Just a question or maybe an observation. I've noticed this year that in almost all of the scrimmages, 7on7s, CA has played in and in the JV games, teams have left their "1st teams" in when CA was playing 2nd and 3rd teams. I realize that if a coach feels like his "firsts" in varsity or in jv need the work that's the place to get it. But what is difficult for me to understand is that there maybe 30-40 other boys on the sideline that never get to touch the field. We all realize that there may be players who never see Friday nights, so why not let them have some time in a scrimmage or jv game? I am interested in your thoughts.
