  1. Sounds like 1 (or maybe both?) of the young men who is a finalists will be playing with a chip on their shoulder in the game Saturday. Guess we’ll find out who it is in a few hours!
  2. If Lausanne comes out slow like they have the past 2 games, they will be in trouble come Saturday afternoon. ND is going to put up points and the Lynx will have to match that offensive output. I expect a high scoring affair with Lausanne coming out on top by a TD or so. But i also thought last year would be high scoring, so what do I know?
  3. I would say that people did care, seeing as in they shut down the co-op before this season. What people don’t seem to care about is how players transfer to Whitehaven every year without ever sitting out for a season.
  4. I’ve heard about the situation at hand, but haven’t been able to get too much info on it so I’m waiting to see if that’s possible before i speak about it. I hate that whatever happened did because it takes away from the great season the young men are having and from the state championship game itself.
  5. They lost a few, but it ended up working out for most. The co-op school was able to sign with another team, so those kids were still able to play. Strangely enough, there were a few who decided they wanted to continue being at Lausanne so they transferred and got into school there. TSSAA ruled those kids ineligible, meaning that they played for them last year but because they technically transferred, they had to sit out. Those are the young men it hurt the most.
  6. Yep. Some of the other schools round town here in Memphis were none too pleased that they had a co-op and went ahead and shut it down. Unfortunately for them, it didn’t affect any outcomes on their region games this year.
  7. Lots of things to talk about here let’s see if I can hit everything. 1. I wouldn’t say that Lausanne is unable to throw a forward pass now that their starting QB has returned, they just don’t do it extremely often because they have one of the best backs in the country next to him in the back field. 2. Their lack of ability to control the ball has been a concern all year. It’s definitely something that I can see coming back to bite them in a crucial moment. 3. Refs will not be from Memphis, that’s the way the playoffs work so that shouldn’t be an issue. 4. As far as the visitor experience goes, I completely understand the frustration, but as I have said previously there is nothing the school can do about the issue currently. Annoying? Absolutely. I do know that when the sheriffs were called over, the refs are the ones who requested them, it was not the school. 5. Lausanne no longer co-ops so you shouldn’t have to worry about taking anyone co-op parent’s spot in the bleachers. 6. Would definitely suggest the commissary for anyone wanting to grab some BBQ before the game. Though, you really can’t go wrong with any of the local BBQ joints around town.
  8. I was hoping that someone would have some BGA analysis. I do believe your are right about FRA sneaking up a little bit on Lausanne last week and would be surprised if it were to happen again. That’s not to say Lausanne wins going away or anything like that, but I definitely think last week was a wake up call. Along with not appearing to be fully locked in, Lausanne made a couple of brutal mistakes early which is why they were trailing. After being forced to punt on their first drive, the snap was a little bit low and the punter went down to catch it. Unfortunately for him, he was on his knee so FRA got the ball at the Lausanne 30. After FRA scored, Lausanne threw a pick-6 to make the early 14-0 lead. Aside from analysis, I saw two of the best catches I have ever seen in high school football Friday night. #6 for FRA poked one out of the air one handed for FRA’s first TD. Then later in the first half, #25 for Lausanne went up over the top of an FRA defender (I believe it was actually #6 ironically enough), tipped the ball to himself and finished the diving catch in the endzone. If you like good catches, you should go try to find those two if they game is posted online. Are there any BGA posters on here? Would love to have some back and forth about the upcoming game!
  9. I actually think that USJ will beat BGA and would consider them the favorite in my opinion. I think Webb has a shot but in the end CPA pulls it out. From everything I’m seeing on here, FRA shouldn’t cause Lausanne much difficulty unless their playmakers show up to have the game of their lives. So I will go with GCA over ND as my upset. Don’t think it will happen, but considering how close it was last time (just seen score, haven’t actually watched the game) I think they have the best chance to pull it off.
  10. Oh wow, I didn’t realize they had that much talent from seeing their scores. Sounds like they may be one of those teams who is a year away from being a legit contender, but with enough talent to scare a good team on any night.
  11. Don’t necessarily think they will mercy rule everyone, but I think they are good enough to do that if they play their best. Not a knock on anyone else, they are just extremely good this year. I’d be surprised if anyone plays them within 20 points. But I have been wrong plenty of times and will be wrong again lol
  12. What does anyone know about FRA? I haven’t seen any of their films or anything, all i know is what I’ve seen as far as scores go. Do they have the ability to make it a game or even win against Lausanne Friday night?
  13. BA beats everyone by however much they want to throughout the playoffs.
  14. Very interesting topic and I think its definitely a fair question to ask. Sounds like there’s something going on outside of football which can cause some issues but at the end of the the day everyone knows it’s about results at that level. They were a big favorite to win the championship the year and instead get knocked out in the first round. I’m curious as to what went wrong.
  15. Finalists announced today: Morgan Ernst, Webb School of Knoxville Eric Gray, Lausanne Drew Martin, BGA Kane Patterson, CPA Cam Wynn, Notre Dame
  16. Oh goodness, here we go again. He was the winner last year (rightfully so) and should be again this year. His numbers and ability speak for themselves.
  17. Having spoken to people at Lausanne about this very subject, I can assure you it is not purposefully designed that way. If they could, they would absolutely have a full stadium. If you have been to campus, you know it is tucked back into a neighborhood and the neighborhood association will not let them build more stands. Heck, they are even limited to a certain number of days that they are allowed to turn on the lights, so this time of year is tough because they can’t use the lights for practice. I would be lying if I said they had a great gameday environment, but it hasn’t seemed to affect the on field product.
  18. This should be interesting. Don't know how well I'll do but lets give it a shot. Round 1 David Lipscomb Church of Christ @ Notre Dame Catholic Goodpasture Church of Christ @ Grace Christian Academy Baptist Boyd Buchannon Church of Christ @ Christ Presbyterian Academy Chattanooga Christian St Elmo Sword of Joshua Independent Full Gospel Pentecostal Assembly @ Webb School of Knoxville Petroleum Northpoint Christian Mississippi Baptist @ Luzanne College St George Episcapal @ Franklin Road Academy College Harding Academy @ Battle Ground Academy College Evangelical Christian School @ University School of Jackson Episcopal Quarterfinal GCA @ Notre Dame Webb @ CPA St. George's @ Lausanne USJ @ BGA Semifinal CPA @ Notre Dame USJ @ Lausanne Final CPA vs. Lausanne 27-24
  19. Anyone see any big upsets occurring in the first round? After looking at the bracket, it's hard for me to imagine anything too shocking.
  20. Completely agree about the USJ-Lausanne game. That game was much closer than the score would indicate. Lausanne had a couple huge plays that really blew the game open with a 95-yard pick 6 and punt return for TD. You are correct about the QB - he can fly but is very VERY limited in the passing game. I do believe the starter is expected back in the next couple of weeks. Not to be nitpicking, but the young man playing QB currently wasn't a running back, he was actually the team's best receiver before making the move. So if the starting QB is able to come back healthy, they get him back as well as the leading receiver. A couple lineman were out Friday, but they are not expected to be long term injuries to my knowledge. The defense was flying around last week and had quite a few big hits. From what I have seen from them this year, they are rarely going to beat themselves with missed tackles and being out of position. I'm the same as you in regards to the rest of the state. I've watched a little from all the teams, but not much. I think the race is very wide open and depending on how certain things break any of the 4 could win.
  21. Very intriguing matchup, as each of the team's strengths will be going against each other. Whitehaven's outstanding D vs Germantown's explosive O and Whitehaven's struggling O vs Germantown's questionable D. I do believe that Germantown's D is slightly better than Whitehaven's O, so I'll give a slim edge to Germantown. I also think it helps that Germantown played them very tough last year when they were not nearly as good of a team so they will likely come into the game believing that they can win. Where is this game being played at?
  22. #1 Eric Gray, Lausanne - 2000+ total yards, 27 TDs. I feel like the new format for Mr. Football favors those who are outstanding on both sides of the ball, which is probably the way it should be anyways. But it will be interesting to how the changes afffect the award.
  23. Missed Thursday's games, but here's my picks for tonight.
