  1. Mayberry is a good player, but she's the #5 or #6 player in the region. Miss Basketball is for the top single A player in the state. You've got to look at (1) Chloe Moore (2) Tess Darby (3) Savannah Lee (4) Sequoya Warren (5) Jayden Green, and then (6) Stacie Mayberry. Trenton lost to Greenfield today even though they face-guarded and double-teamed Moore, who still finished with 23 points, Darby had 16 points.
  2. I heard that Chloe Moore ( Greenfield) had 20 points by HALFTIME of their win against Union City tonight. She should definitely be a Miss Basketball finalist. Having a strong season so far. Tasia Jones is also having a big season, even though she's not a scorer, she's the unquestioned leader of the Westview team.
  3. I've never understood why some people won't vote for a freshman. If they're eligible to play and perform better than the others it seems only fair that they would be rewarded. Giving the award to someone else because they've had a nice career is BS. We're talking about stats for THIS SEASON ONLY! Sometimes the younger player is just better than the upperclassmen.
  4. Greenfield (22-1) pulls their starters when up big on opponents! They're a young team with two D1 studs that could average 25 each, but the youngsters get to play in blowouts. After the 4 seniors, they have 0 juniors, 2 sophomores, 5 freshman, and several eighth graders. The freshman and eighth graders have played entire 4th quarters in blowouts. Coach knows that nothing beats game experience for young players.
  5. After their first meeting turned into a blowout, it seems that Greenfield came out about as flat and uninspired as possible. They missed several lay-ups in the first half and should have easily carried a double digit lead into the break. Dresden played hard ( led by 7 early ) and never quit, but they don't have many scorers like past Lady Lions teams. This game will only help Greenfield b/c now it seems everyone is trying to be physical and slow the pace against them. They need these type games to prepare for post season play. District and Regions should be fun!
  6. A - Chloe Moore, Tess Darby AA - Akira Levy, Jamirah Shutes, Gracee Dishman AAA - Rhyne Howard, Brinae Alexander, Jayla Hemingway
  7. Tonight Greenfield dominated Trinity Christian to the point that Darby and Moore were on the bench early in the fourth quarter with a huge lead, 77-46. The eighth graders got lots of playing time in this one. Tess Darby ( 35pts ) and Chloe Moore ( 20 pts ??ast - maybe a double-double ) BOTH should be nominated for Miss Basketball. I also want to hear from the other fans. Not about the best teams, but the top players that deserve to be nominated.
  8. Huntingdon was very fortunate to win that game. Greenfield led for most of the game and was up 7 with two minutes to play. Instead of killing some time, they took some ill-advised shots and Huntingdon, being the good team they are, took full advantage (good coaching). The Swenson kid had a career night (according to some HHS fans) and even then Greenfield missed TWO lay-ups in the last five seconds of regulation AND missed the last shot of the first overtime. That game made Greenfield alot better b/c in the 2nd game, after leading the entire game, they closed it out strong. That loss was a good one b/c they've made adjustments and improved. Vandychris, nobody can guarantee a gold ball for any district right now, there's lots of basketball left to be played by everyone, AND THEY'RE ALL HUNGRY!
  9. Final - Greenfield 31 Gleason 25 - Sophomore PG Chloé Moore scores 20 of Greenfield’s 31 points.
  10. Halftime Gleason 8 Greenfield 7 - Gleason playing old-school stall ball !!
  11. The kyprephoops.com mid-season list of Tennessee's top players is out and it has some locals listed. SENIORS - Jamirah Schutes (Haywood), DeJa Graves (Westview), Ashton Hulme (USJ), Sequoya Warren (Middleton), Tia Bland (Covington), Lamia Udley (Covington), Lexi Trice (Southside) JUNIORS - Quanardra Miller (Southside) Sophomores - Chloe Moore (Greenfield), Tess Darby (Greenfield), Trinity Taylor (Covington). Congrats to these young ladies! Hopefully by season's end there will be more names from West Tn on the list.
  12. District 12 - i don't know much about those teams District 13- Tasia Jones District 14 - Quanardra Miller
  13. Thanks for the correction, but you get what I'm trying to say. A team can be placed in a easy bracket or be placed on murderers' row!
  14. I think other teams like Summertown, Greenfield, and Huntingdon could also have a say in this too. At the state tournament, it all could come down to the luck of the draw. Clarkrange - Pickett County could be a quarter-finals game in Murfreesboro!
  15. Anyone able to give a recap of the Gleason - Dresden game? Two good teams right there with lots of experience.
  16. Zebra35, Moore is Greenfield's leading scorer this season, so far. Being the point guard, she doesn't shoot as much as Darby, but she's very efficient at what she does. In a recent Jax sun article even the Greenfield coach mentions how Darby has to be " set up ". This is why Moore is so important to Greenfield b/c without her they're back to what they were the year before she arrived. A team of spot-up shooters that are better than average, but not likely to advance during the post season. I give Moore the nod also because she makes everyone around her better. Darby will score 30 with zero assists while Moore can create her own shot while also creating shots for her teammates too. This is what makes them so awesome together. Moore controls the game tempo and scores or draws in defenders with penetration, then kicks it to a spotted-up Darby ready to drain a big three! Best scoring duo in West Tn!
  17. A little surprised to see Dyersburg in the top 10, considering that two of their three losses were to single A teams ( Dresden and Greenfield ) .
  18. Well Vandychris, that loss actually shows several things. If SHS beat Gleason by 15 the prior week it shows (1) Gleason made the necessary adjustments needed to win. (2) SHS assumed it would just be a repeat performance. (3) Championship caliber teams never underestimate any opponent.....the loss will be a good thing if SHS learned anything from it.
  19. Attended Jackson Sun - Game of the Week, Greenfield 65 Dresden 42, Again came away impressed with Chloe Moore! She had 28 points on all kinds of shots. When this team gets hot i don't see many that can play with them. Tess Darby had a slow night with 10 points, but #3 Little was hot from behind the line and had a big game ( 15 ). Dresden is well coached, but looked a step slow compared to Greenfield. Over the next two and a half seasons Greenfield may well have two players in the running for Miss Basketball.
  20. Will be at Westview - Crockett on Tuesday. Anybody think the Cavaliers gonna pull the upset?
  21. Are you trying to say Westview is the best team overall or just in double A? You do know that Greenfield and Westview had a closed scrimmage before the season and it was basically a draw...right? Both teams had their moments. They looked like two of the state's best, ready to go out and make their marks on the season. The Jackets have beaten Double A Dyersburg, Crockett Co, Henry Co, and Triple A Dyer Co, so don't just assume that Westview would roll them, just because they're single A....because they wouldn't ! Greenfield is only 7 deep while Westview is the most complete team in West Tn, but those 7 girls are well conditioned. I expect both teams to make post season runs, but Westview has the much better chance of bringing home a gold ball. With Tasia and Deja leading the way, Westview will make it to at least the semis. Also, Middle and East TN Double A have been much better and it's not even close. I hope both local teams can go all the way!
  22. Big game atmosphere at Huntingdon! Good crowd with coaches/players from Gibson Co, Dresden, Lexington, Gleason, along with college coaches and talent evaluators. Greenfield got a huge first half from Moore and Little, while Darby did work in the second half with Huntingdon face-guarding Moore. Fillies PG Smith had a big game also but she was the only Huntingdon player in double figures. She's a really tough competitor. Both teams are going to make alot of noise down the stretch.
  23. Just watched the Greenfield / Huntingdon rematch. This one was over by halftime ( Greenfield up 36-17 ). Looks like the better TEAM won tonight! Tess Darby had 18pts and Chloe Moore 16pts ( maybe even a double-double ). Against Henry County over the Chrictmas break Moore had a double-double, 19pts 12ast , while Darby had 32 points. Tonight it looked like Greenfield make adjustments from the first game while Huntingdon had problems handling the press. That being said, both teams will make a strong push at Murfreesboro. Wouldn't be surprised to see boths squads there.
