I would take winning 5 games in the playoffs {{ and that's never guaranteed }} and use the regular season to build depth ,nomatter if it's a 7-3 or 6-4 type of season.Believe me,I've seen my share of 10-0 teams at the school two of my kids went to. Only to watch them lose in the first few rounds of the playoffs.

They have had some great teams going back several years but yes my opinion of them has always been favorable. Same for Maryville and Alcoa,those two are just great programs and I've always said it would be nice to have a program that is right there in the championship picture every year like those guys.Not hate be just a lot of RESPECT.

In the 3 classification system, I think it would have been ''pick your poison" if you look back at the brackets and I don't think much of a chance with where the program was at that time.Now in the 5 classification system,there might have been a couple of good chances for the Devils but still a hard road.Yep, I didn't like it until we went to that first championship game. The changes you have wrote about in the weight room and great coaching staffs was a super first step.Being in the right bracket at the right time,hasn't hurt anything either. I would have never thought years ago that the program would be so strong in not just football,but nearly every sport. I can remember when we went a little ways in baseball one year and it was a big deal at the time but we never came close to a state championship. Now,the Big Greene Machine is winning in everything.

Yep, it can happen at any school in the state or country.We have seen it at every level from Sandy hook to Virginia Tech and it can be a student or an outside source.

Well put Kev-o , about as good as it could be explained in a football anology. No it's not a perfect world and sometimes even good people do bad things, but letting the bad guys be the only ones with guns is not the solution either. I don't have the answers but know this much.When I took my family to a movie sometime back and there were warnings all over the country for that movie,I liked seeing a few policeman walking around the theatre.I wouldn't mind things like metal detectors and more law enforcement at our schools .I personally think it will make a few people start to think in july before they try to shoot up a place when every other person might have a weapon of their own at any point and time. Years ago an uncle of mine was in a pretty rough mountain bar and something went wrong. He said that him and everyone in the place started pulling out " Dirty Harry " looking guns and nobody ended up hurt but the drunk that started the fight was thrown out and left with everything but his pride.Sure that might not be the best example but knowing there is a possible payment just might stop one bad guy and save someones life.

This could go on for years but we all know most people are set in their ways when it comes to religion or personal beliefs.The best example I ever seen was two of my best friends having a three hour long discussion at my house.One a preacher and the other an atheist. There were no raised voices or tempers but actually some agreement on some things. Both knew the bible as well as anyone I've ever seen and shook hands when it was over. That's not going to happen a lot of times,even when you get three different types of baptist together.I actually seen that and all three were sending the other two south with their stance. I just try to do the best I can and not judge others because Batman is far from perfect.

Backing up a step first,I hate what happened in knoxville and it's always sad when things like this occur.I've got a son who wears the blue and always support the vast number of great policeman that put their lives on the line.Now,No doubt without having any facts to back up what I'm about to write,kids stand a better chance with a good home and support. My opinion is even if it's a single house mom,dad or grandparent having to do extra work or two great parents working together.Yes we all also know examples of great christian parents who had not so great kids .We also have seen young men and woman grow into great adults without a father or mother worth two cents.That all said,I still like the odds of two fine parents,grandparents or whatever compared to a single house parent like Batman grew up in half the time or watching half a dozen different combinations for parents..

I read just a few of the post and will give Batman's thoughts .I'm pro gun but at the same time,I feel that "some people" should not have a weapon of any kind around other people but how are you going to stop it. I say weapon because it doesn't have to be a gun.Could be a knife,bow,stick,rock or any one of a thousand things.They don't have guns in jail but people die all the time there.Bad people will do bad things and good people shouId not be the only ones without a way to protect themselves.

I know we all get caught up in the future and how our teams will do in different sports. I was just looking at different NET high school programs as well as some of the great programs around the state on the tssaa website.No matter if it's a boys or girls sport,we should all just enjoy the moment when our favorite teams win a state championship.Shoot,some schools have never had the Fortune of winning at that level or it's been so long that it's like telling a story that should be on the history channel. So, great job to all those individuals or teams around the state in every sport over the years that have worked hard and made it to the mountain top, because you will always be a champion !

I never count them until it's over.I thought Elizabethton came of age a year earlier then expected in 2019 and the Devils tried to return the favor last year.From everything I'm hearing,whoever gets out of the east will face some stronger teams in the future.I always go back to when all three of the favorites didn't see the semi round and a team from west TN won it all. I do however like the way the Devils grew last year and look forward to another great year.Man ! what a schedule the Devils have.You have to love it . No hiding for this program. I have a feeling we would have played Tampa on the off week if they called .

Great job by both teams and congratulations to my Devils for their first basketball championship.As BVD text me last night and said,our dad is looking down and very happy today.

It's a great time for all Betsy fans.Those few that are old enough to remember the first championship back in 1938 have to be very thankful for what the program has done these past couple of years.Those that are just kids today , might be Telling kids in the next century about the mighty back to back state championship teams of 2019-2020 . It will be just like 1938 is to many folks today, a completely different time,long ago before America was even in WW2.

Speaking only about NET in the first part.Elizabethton has for longer then anyone can remember had some fine athletes and teams.Nomatter what their records, they have always been tough on the football field. I expect nothing different next year.There will without doubt be folks say this team or that are the ones to beat. Batman says ," until someone beats the defending champs and puts them out of the playoffs ,Elizabethton is still the champions ".... There will be new teams in the west from what I'm hearing ,moving up and making that part of the state more competitive.You also just never know when a power team from the Knoxville area or maybe even Alcoa down the road, will jump up or back down into 4a.So, for Elizabethton and Greeneville, it's make hay while the sun is shining the brightest and when the clouds move in, keep making hay and prove your also now at the highest level on a yearly basis.

I'm saying let it play out and let's see all the facts before we get a rope. Also, I'm saying to make sure your own house is in order before you jump up and down .I'm not a judge and jury and we need to slow down a little is all.

Maybe your school will give you a chance before it's over.Hope it doesn't turn out something like a coworker I once had .He acted like he was the only man in the world who had a perfect,loving and trustworthy wife who would never cheat on him . Well, turned out that his version of trustworthy and hers were about two hundred men different.

Where did I speculate or imply "everyone" was guilty.I was only impling that unless your 100 % sure of anything, including your own school, it's better not to open your piehole.

There are hundreds of schools and coaches.Thousands of kids playing football and a system that was absolutely terrible from the start for a pandemic.I'm not condemning or making any justification of any school or any coach,player or person . What I'm saying is before any of us throw that stone,we had all take a closer look at every school and situation all over the state.I don't personally know anything other then hearsay and that's not something you take 100% or use in court.I would only guess that there have been hundreds of players and coaches through out the state that have had Covid and most likely a large number that were not reported for one reason or another. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know this was just a ticking time bomb from the mountains all the way to the river . I'm sure this is just the start and many parents,players and staff all over the place are holding their breath and wondering what's next at their own school.

Maybe it's just my memory but in the last 35 years, there hasn't been many brand new high schools with new names,built in net. In the twenty years before that ,there were a bunch built,so I guess it's about time for a little updating in the area.

I 100% agree that this is what every Elizabethton fan should do right now.You guys have earned it and nomatter what next year or the next fifty years hold, Elizabethton is the current back to back state champions !
