  1. I've seen much easier first round games over the years.SD is capable of playing some good football. 2. To be honest, from what I read going into the season, region 2 was pretty close 1-4 and any team was going to be pretty good for a first round game when it got here. Yes ,I think the Devils will take care of business but they have to do it one game at a time , or the next round won't matter.
  3. I'll go green for this one.I might be wrong but this is the Volunteer state and I don't care if you live in the mountians of east Tennessee or along the mighty river in the west, your not going to be scared to play anyone in a simple little game like football. DB jumped on my Devils and they will play anyone, win or lose.Same for any other team in the state, we don't grow cowards in this state................
  4. I'll wear Green for this one.Myself and BVD were at that '98 Arkansas game.An old man behind us cursed for hours, everything from the player's and coaches to the cheerleaders and Smokey. He finally left with about half the fourth quarter. All I could say to BVD when he left was,( the only good thing about this game is that old ( SO and SO ) waited his whole life to see a number one UT team in Neyland and he gets this ). Yep, he missed the great ending and the happiness the good fans got to feel.I'd bet money it was one of his family members that through the mustard on the field during the Ole Miss game.ha
  5. I ask the same thing a few years ago when Greeneville scheduled Alcoa. The answer for Greeneville was tough games help you find out what your team needs and to prepare for the playoffs .For some teams it's simply finding someone to fill out the schedule or a coaching connection between the two schools.
  6. My sincere condolences to this family. I know if this were my family ,I'd much rather the back and forth that's getting ready to start be on another thread and not here. Nothing any of us write about it will help them find peace and that's what they need.
  7. Yeah, that was a very special team and one of the best the Devils have had for sure.Like I say, every year and many other schools have had some great teams,so it's very hard to pinpoint the best of the best.
  8. You go back far enough and a 200 pound lineman was a big guy in the NFL.That's why one of the greatest athletes of all time was Jim Thorpe at around 6'1 and 200 pounds.Back then,he would have been like a guy today at 6'8 325 running a 4.3 or just something crazy like that. Just a monster for his time and he was great at everything he done.
  9. It's pretty hard to compare todays teams against teams 10-20-30 or more years ago as being the best ever because they will never play each other.Much more easy to say what are the top 5 or 10 teams from every year going back for decades. As to what teams would I say are flat out the greatest in the history of the state ,well that wouldn't exactly mean they are the very best against teams several years in any direction. No question the only team to ever win a a state playoff with only one class would be considered the best team in the state hands down for that year but could the 1938 Elizabethton team compete with todays athletes, well that's a pretty easy "no" but they have to be considered one of the greatest teams because of what they done that year. How about those three teams that have been voted National champions.I'd say all three would have to go down on the greatest list but could teams from the 50'S or 70's compete, same answer against todays very best. So, being that there is no right or wrong answer,I'd say it's everyones guess as to who the best is but Batman has several that would for sure be on the greatest list for their time in history.
  10. Ha,much different world today.Guarantee my Devils will be hit hard by a few snowflakes after tonight's game.
  11. Oh yes,you don't poke the bear.I'd love to be able to post some "unedited " stuff from years ago with BVD. I'd be banned in about two seconds if I did,ha.You folks notice that Batman doesn't like to talk about some things and I'll leave it at that.
  12. I'll admit that I'd rather see my team win but if they don't, I can accept it and congratulate the other team.Every fan base has good and bad folks representing their team . That's sports and I doubt it will ever change. Shoot, it's the same with anything that humans are involved with .
  13. Good luck OR going forward.Hope you guys get it turned around starting next week.
  14. The halftime stats that they gave on the radio made me think of your prediction.Reason, OR has 7 yards on 14 running attempts.
  15. I wished for a close game against DB to give the Devils a needed second half challenge. Now I'm a lot like you OR fans and want to see some improvement over another big name school. When you have a 4A team with size and strength, plus stud wideouts and a tremendous running back, you want to see the ball delivered into those guys hands and not a crappy couple of first half scores. It's the same when OR was beating everyone back in the day , you wanted to send a message. Also, one thing I've seen from most every team this year is young men bringing attention to themselves when they make a play.Batman can't stand that and I'll tell every player reading this that it makes you look ten times better to act like you have been there before. It's perfectly fine to show emotion and get excited.Don't do stuff like a kid did a couple of games ago when he scored against us and shoved the ball against one of our players afterwards. That is classless and makes you ,your team, your coaches, your school, and your family look bad .So,knock the crap out of someone and then help them up,or score and hand the ball to the ref.....
  16. Probably one of the best things about living in Kingsport,Pals all over the place.I had my favorite breakfest yesterday morning after a night shift, Big pal and FF from the Colonial Heights Pals.. I always ask if their ready because the one next to DB actually has had me wait in the Parking lot twice for fries when stopping early in the morning. The first time I waited a couple minutes and was so mad that I drove off without my fries.Yep,ole Batman showed his backside and didn't get his fries. The second time I remembered how much I missed those fries and waited like a grown-up. Ha.
  17. Oh and coach Watson was my favorite DB coach of all time.
  18. Teddy and a former coworker of mine were a couple of the fastest Indians back in the day.
  19. I do good to remember a lot of my sons teammates names. The 2008 game was the one where his buddy Chris Sensabaugh ,had a breakout game.
  20. I remember that 2008 team for sure, one of my Indians played against the wildcats down there.Exactly the year I mentioned that you were loaded with awesome athletic talent and that's about all I can say . Love your tradition coming down the steps with the smoke and train sounds.Next to DB's " walk ",UT running through the "T",those are three of my favorite pregames in all of football.
  21. Just catching up and I have to say, some good reading since yesterday.Ha,the spelling police would arrest Batman for sure if I tried to spell Russian titles or leaders names.I enjoy history as well and mankind has certainly made a cluster of it.BC and those pictures are always to the bone, got to love that...I like the passion you wildcats have for the game and understand how much invested a few of you are that have kids in the system.99% of us understand that feeling and man it's a thousand times more easy when your a former parent ,player . student or just a fan who loves the game.
  22. True. About the same as comparing Greeneville's sea level to that of Gatlinburg.Has nothing to do with this week's game but everyone always talks about going up to Gatlinburg.Wonder just how much higher it really is up in Gatlinburg from Greeneville .Wonder how many folks will actually look it up and be surprised.
