  1. I actually did mean what I posted. I just think District 2 1-A Boy's teams are a better overall group than District 1-A. I live in the District 1-A area & I've seen all 4 teams in the Regionals play at least 1 game this season. The best team from my area in my opinion is probably University High but I think Greenback from District 2-A just might be a better team. That shows or tells me District 2-A is just a stronger overall group of 4 teams in the Regionals. I could be proven wrong of course but from what I viewed in these District 1-A games I see them as a weaker bunch of teams than all 4 from District 2-A. I am full of BOLOGNA! LOL!
  2. I'm going with Knox Webb over Harding CPA over Knox Grace Webb School over Chattanooga Christian Goodpasture over Tipton-Rosemark In the Semifinals: Knox Webb over CPA Webb School over Goodpasture Championship: Knox Webb over Webb School
  3. To me, District 2-A teams are the stronger teams than from District 1-A. Having said that, Hancock County in my opinion has been overrated all season long. I think Cosby is the team to beat in the R1-A Tourney. The #1 seed from District 1(University High) is a good team but they just don't have the players that Cosby has. Greenback really could beat University High in the Quarterfinals in what I would call a mild upset myself. The North Greene & Hancock County game is really a toss up but I will give the slight advantage to Hancock County though. I predict Jellico to beat Unaka in the Quarterfinals. Cosby will have no trouble handling Hampton in the final Quarterfinal matchup. Looking at the R-1A bracket, I honestly think Cosby & Greenback could be in the R-1A Championship.
  4. I see that you're a Maryville fan. How much of a realistic chance do you personally think Maryville has at making it to the R2-AAA Championship Game? Seems like Maryville faded a little down the stretch of the regular season & District Tourney. However, they did have to face Bearden twice & to me Bearden is clearly the favorite to take the Region. Maryville could end up facing them again in one of the Semifinals if they can win their Quarterfinal matchup. To me personally, I think Bearden will be in the Championship but who they face is a big question mark. I'm going to go with a sleeper team in Clinton. I don't think it will be Oak Ridge even though they have a solid record.
  5. I got to see Cameron Rymer from Morristown East play in the Arby's Classic in December. Very impressive player. He can shoot, pass, steal the ball, & he's a decent rebounder especially for his size. I also think Brandon Ilic who is the 6'8" big guy for them is going to be a special player. He's just a freshman. Can dunk the ball in so many different ways & is an excellent shot blocker with plenty of offensive skills as well(both as a back to the basket scorer & face up as well). I think Morristown East just might make some noise in the Regionals too. Back to Atwood. He can himself carry Johnson County. They lost a couple games down the stretch(1 in the regular season & 1 in the District Tourney) but they have a good enough supporting cast for Atwood to probably make the Regional Tourney Championship game. However, there are 4-5 teams capable of winning Region 1-AA. They just need to make the Championship Game though for Atwood & the gang to advance to the Sectionals which I give them a better than 50% chance in doing so. Thanks.
  6. Region-1 AAA (teams that will advance to the Sectionals): 1. DB 2. Sevier County I personally think DB is a lock to win the Region. 2nd place behind them could be between about 3 teams but I'm picking Sevier County with the way the matchups are in the bracket. Let me say this though. Tennessee High can certainly beat Sevier County in the quarterfinal matchup between these 2 teams. If that was to happen then Tenn. High, South Doyle, or even Science Hill could be a factor for 2nd place. I just don't see any of these 7 other teams beating DB. DB is a solid team all around but their defense is what wins most of their games even though they have about 4 capable scorers that can go off anytime.
  7. Yes, Atwood is the best boy's basketball player in NE Tennessee(Tri-Cities area) for sure. The other 2 closest players to Atwood from this area would be Marae Foreman from Dobyns-Bennett & Chad Heglar from Daniel Boone but they are both just behind Atwood. I've seen Blake Atwood play twice this season & he is a tough guy to guard. He's 6'2" but he's physical, strong, athletic, & skillful. Nobody from this area anyhow has been able to stop him. He's double-teamed an awful lot too but he can even beat those type defenses as well. He's a very good passer but the Longhorns look for him to score as expected. He's also a great rebounder @ 6'2". I think his father being the head coach shows the bloodline of basketball in Atwood. He's just a very solid & well-rounded basketball player. He's also from a great family as well so the kid has great character. I don't know where he will play college basketball but whatever school that gets him is getting a really good basketball player & even better person.
  8. Here's my top picks for the boys teams from Class A, AA, & AAA from West Tennessee Region: Class A 1. Manassas (D15) 2. Humboldt (D14) 3. Peabody (D14) Class AA 1. Raleigh Egypt (D16) 2. Covington (D15) 3. Jackson South Side (D14) Class AAA 1. Whitehaven (D16) 2. Memphis East (D16) 3. Bartlett (D14)
  9. I now think you're right about Crockett. Boone lost again tonight. It seems they have a one man show in Heglar with no help from anybody else. Crockett doesn't have a Heglar type player but they do seem to have a better overall team than Boone. Heglar scores 20+ just about every single game but they don't have but one other player that scores in double figures & that player doesn't do it consistently. Crockett just has a few players that can score & also plays solid defense while Boone doesn't have that type team. So, I now say the top 4 teams from Region 1-AAA are DB, TH, SH, & Crockett.
  10. Viking Hall draws pretty good crowds for the Vikings home games. However, it's nowhere near as many fans as we see in the Arby's Classic of course. I have played in that arena multiple times back in my high school basketball playing days from 1986-1989 while attending Sullivan North. We were in the same conference as Tennessee High back then & the conference was called the Big 10 Conference. I remember pretty big crowds for their games outside of the Arby's Classic too. I would say the arena is 1/2 full or a little better for most of their home games. If they play a team like DB or Science Hill then the crowds are even bigger.
  11. I personally don't see either Science Hill or Crockett as threats in District 1-AAA. Now, when it comes to tourney time with the Conference & Regionals both of these teams could end up making it to the Regionals. But as far as the regular season goes it's going to be between DB & Tennessee High. DB just had a bad game & like you said a solid game plan from TH was able to work against them. DB is not only the best overall team in District 1-AAA they are also the best defensive team. TH exposed them a little Friday night. DB had given up 60+ points in only 1 game before the TH game Friday night & that was in the Arby's Classic. I think DB will beat Science Hill by a pretty good margin regardless of the game being @ SH. I think the top 4 teams from District 1-AAA are DB, TH, SH, & I'm going to go with Boone as the #4 team with Heglar being on that squad & can take them to some wins on his own. Crockett doesn't have that type player. Volunteer & Cherokee bring up the rear in this conference. Volunteer could actually end up knocking Boone out of that #4 spot but I don't think it's likely.
  12. Go back & read my previous post. I did say that I didn't think Hancock County was necessarily the best team in District 2-A. I also mentioned Cosby among others as contenders. Thanks.
  13. I have to admit that I don't know too much about Greenback. I think the boy's record is like 3-9 or 4-9 correct? I know they almost beat Hancock County on Friday night losing by only 1 point. If they can play like they did against Hancock County on a consistent basis for the rest of the regular season then they would jump into the darkhorse contention category. I agree with you on that. The problem though with Greenback is that they're already like 6th place in the conference right now out of 8 teams. Now, they could climb back up into the top 3 because besides Hancock County & Cosby the other 3 teams above them right now are just a couple of games ahead of Greenback. Of course, then we have the postseason conference tournament as well in which is where they could be really dangerous. Plus, they could get a couple of wins in the conference tourney to advance to the Regionals as well. I'm not sold on Hancock County actually being the best team in Region 1-A. They are right up there but University High from District 1-A & Cosby from District 2-A just both might be better teams than Hancock County. Going to be interesting to see who ends up winning the regular season title in District 2-A & also the postseason Conference tourney. I think the postseason conference tourney there could be just about any team that could surprise others & win the title including Greenback. I think University High is going to run away with the District 1-A regular season title. But, the tourney for that District could be interesting as well. North Greene & Hampton both have enough talent to compete with University High. I would include Unaka as the darkhorse for District 1-A but only for the postseason conference tourney & not the regular season.
  14. I know MWHS has the best record right now in District 2-AAA but MEHS just whipped them good the other night & MEHS is playing better than anybody right now from District 2-AAA. I think MEHS ends up winning the Conference over MWHS. That backcourt for MEHS is hard to handle. In my neck of the woods in District 1-AAA Dobyns-Bennett has by far the best team but Tennessee High beat them Friday night by 1 point in a thriller. So, these 2 teams(DB & Tennessee High) are the cream of the crop in District 1-AAA. In District 3-AAA there are a few contenders. I do think Oak Ridge might be the better contender but Anderson County & Knox Central also have chances as well. In District 4-AAA it's Maryville, Maryville, & Maryvillle. LOL! In all seriousness though Bearden who won the Arby's Classic could end up being the team with the best chance to advance farther in the postseason. That backcourt duo of Glover & Stephny is probably the best in the state. If Bearden is clicking on all cylinders & everybody healthy I think they're a better team than Maryville.
  15. Here's how I would rank the teams from Region 1A as of right now: 1. Hancock County (17-3) 2. University High (13-3) 3. North Greene (12-6) 4. Hampton (13-7) 5. Cosby (11-6) Even though Hancock County has the best overall record for Region 1A right now I don't know how serious of a contender they really are. In my opinion, University High has the better talent of the 5 schools listed above. Hampton just might have the 2nd most talented team. However, we can't count out North Greene or Cosby either. All 5 of these teams could make a run. I still think University High has the best chance to go deeper into the postseason. I would put Hancock County as the team with the 2nd best chance to go deeper into postseason play.
  16. Congratulations to Knox Central High School on winning their 1st ever high school football championship. It was a great championship game. The Bobcats defense was definitely the difference in the game. I live in the Tri-Cities area of East Tennessee. One of my favorite athletes ever was Todd Helton right from Central High School. I wonder if he attended this game? I know that he's got to be one proud alumni over the biggest win in the program's history. Henry County is a traditional powerhouse & the Bobcats took it to them in that championship game.
  17. Right now, when I click on the scoreboard link to the right & then click on the pulldown to bring up football all that's loading up is down to Region 2. No further down will load up. That's after waiting at least 10 minutes too for the page to load. It won't show up any Regions games past Region 2.
  18. Most of the time there is not any scores listed or updated scores while the games are going on. The very very slow loading times for the scoreboard page is ridiculous as well for me. Sometimes the full page takes 10+ minutes to even load.
  19. device type- Acer Aspire laptop- 4GB RAM Firefox Browser- v. 56.0.1 64 bit Same thing is going on tonight as has been too. Not one single football game has a score listed or any updated scores either of course. Thanks.
  20. The same thing is happening from the scoreboard tonight. Page will not load or loads very very slowly. Doesn't matter if I choose "Football" scores or choose no particular sport at all. This is the 4th straight week this problem has been going on. At first I thought I had figured out the problem by disabling AdBlock Plus but even doing that doesn't fix the problem. This really needs to be figured out or people will stop coming to the site. Sure hope it's resolved by tomorrow for tomorrow night's games. Does the site need a server upgrade or what? Thanks.
  21. It temporarily started showing the updated scores. Then, all of a sudden offline server error 505. It's now got the games up there for tonight but not a single score listed. 3rd straight week of problems with the scoreboard on game night.
  22. Having trouble again this week with the scoreboard page for football loading. Last week I figured out it was my AdBlock Plus but I have it disabled this time. If I choose "All Sports" it will load but still very slow & I see no score updates. Thanks.
  23. Hello. I wanted to ask what's up with the "scoreboard" from this site that has been both very slow loading & scores updating over the past 2-3 weeks? It takes the "Football" scoreboard literally 5+ minutes to load & right now not a single game has been updated with a score. What is causing this problem? I am updated to the latest Firefox & don't have anything blocking the pages from loading & updating. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium. Thanks.
  24. In Region 1AA Grainger takes on Sullivan East. I would typically just say this is East game in a blowout. However, this is one of the best Grainger teams in years. Grainger has only lost 4 games while East has lost 7. This is a tough one to pick but I'm going with Grainger in a squeeker by a score of 50-48. Any opinions or comments are more than welcomed. Thanks.
