  1. Athens? Is there something I'm not aware of? I thought after tonight all the Region 3AA games would be in north Georgia.... I mean in East Ridge?
  2. I'll take McMinn Central in round 1, you name the $ amount.
  3. If the good Sweetwater team shows up, they'll upset Signal.
  4. Bradley will win easily by 30 or more.
  5. McMinn is a strange team, you never know which team of theirs will show up. If it comes down to coaching, White Co. will win it easily.
  6. That's a long way to travel for Bradley, and possibly Cleveland and East Hamilton. White Co has been playing great at home lately. I wouldn't be too surprised to see District 6 go 3-1 against District 5 in the first round.
  7. Meigs had a lot to do with Central's turnovers. Meigs defense played great, and other than missing too many easy shots, Meigs played much batter last night than they did when they played at Central. Central won't see another defensive performance like that in the Regions so they could beat Red Bank if they play well, especially if RB's point guard is hurt. I'd love to see a Central-Meigs matchup in the championship game for district 5 bragging rights. I won't be surprised if Sweetwater upsets Signal Mtn.
  8. Where will the Region 3AAA semis and championship game be played?
  9. Meigs looked a lot better tonight than they did when they played at Central. Their defense was suffocating. The Region looks like it will be tougher this year than in years past, if Signal's and Red Bank's records are indicative.
  10. Do any Loretto or Lawrence County fans know much about the girls basketball team at South Lawrence Elementary School? They'll be playing against the Englewood Elementary (McMinn County) young ladies in the TMSAA state semifinal game this Friday at Stewarts Creek Middle School in Smyrna.
  11. Andy Pennington was a great player and I think he'll build a good team at Sequoyah. I was just surprised to hear that the younger Meadows' parents might send him to Sequoyah to play basketball. I know both the parents were stellar athletes at Meigs and they're diehard Meigs' fans, heavily involved in their sons' sports programs. From what I've heard Sammy has a great group of young players playing for him at Meigs High, so wouldn't the boys' program be one that the younger Meadows would want to be involved with? The Sequoyah thing may just be a rumor, but I've heard it from more than one person involved with Sequoyah.
  12. I know the younger Meadows, Ethan?, is very talented and was the former starting qb before hurting his elbow, but the kid that took his place, Kraskous?, is very stout, strong, and quick. He looked more like a running back out there bowling over or evading tacklers.
  13. You don't have to look any further than the head coaches of McMinn and Central to see why Central won. McMinn's coach could have Bradley's players and wouldn't win their district.
  14. I was impressed with a lot of the Meigs Middle players in the championship game. The kid playing qb that evening will shine in high school.
  15. Some folks at Sequoyah are saying the Meadows' brother will coming there to play basketball for Pennington.
  16. Compared to the best teams across the state, none of the best teams from this district have been close the last 3 years. Meigs will easily win the district going 10-0. They have the only chance to advance to state this year and that isn't a given without Kenny. Central will go 8-2 but probably won't make it to the region finals. I thought Sweetwater might give Meigs and Central at least one good game this year but they lost to a terrible Loudon team last night.
  17. McMinn Central hasn't played well since mid December and has lost to a couple of terrible teams. No real difference maker on the team and not much quality depth on a pretty young team. Playing in a super weak district should help them in the win column. I wonder if Johnny got the hint that a zone defense works at times? I doubt it.
  18. Is your daughter the super soph who plays for McMinn?
  19. Other than Meigs and Central, the district is once again very weak. For Central to beat Meigs, it would take Meigs playing their worst game and Central playing their best game, which could happen. It doesn't look to me like Meigs is playing up to their billing, but that is probably most attributable to their coach. Some people got on me last year for calling out Meigs' coach, but some other people this year are in agreement.
  20. Considering the sources you referenced trying to figure me out, I'm not surprised and find your remark laughable that you or they actually admit it. I didn't attend Central and I'm happy that I don't have the mentality of you and the typical Central fan of "how dare someone question the conditions of most sports programs at Central!" Ignore the facts, drink the blue Kool-Aid!
  21. I agree with you. Central will be pretty young but they'll improve as the year goes on. And I agree with you. Central could possibly lose to a Sweetwater or Sequoyah early in the season if they don't play well that night but at season's end they should be the second best team in the district. I'd love to see them make it to the region championship game but the other district has Signal Mtn. that's pretty good.
