I watched streaming also. Same when South Greene played Cloudland.
From that perspective, Cloudland and Hampton remind me of each other. Tough inside, and good defense.
I try to go to one game a week, provided there's good competition.
I'll stay home tonight and watch Greeneville play Alcoa on the NFHS Network. That should be a good game and will tell us a lot about #1 Greeneville.
The Ladies Classic should be a good one this year. Greeneville beat Upperman in last year's tournament. It seems more invitations are being sent to teams from Tennessee, whom I prefer watching. It's nice not having to travel great distances to see teams that get lots of mention here on Coach T.
BTW, I've listened to David Clary's radio broadcasts in the past, also.
It's early. They'll return to GreenEville, Tennessee for the Ladies Classic between Christmas and New Years. The kids will play teams from all over Tennessee (including Upperman and Alcoa) and the Southeast. That kind of competition pays off later. One more thing, the Oak Ridge fans are great. Hope to see lots of them.
"Comparisons" are best made a little further into the season. Upper East portion of the state (way over here) still has Cloudland and Hampton and maybe a couple of others.
Alcoa's starting guards are tough. The team is big inside, too. You'll need to bring your A Defense to Alcoa.
Both teams will play in Greeneville for the Ladies Classic this year. Looking forward to some great basketball. Oak Ridge saves its best for that tournament. Good Luck!
I would be surprised if Cloudland did not make it to state. Their inside game, on both ends of the floor, made the difference. Well done, Lady Landers.
I couldn't have said it better—especially for the smaller schools. It pays dividends at tournament time.
Regarding records, Coach Don Devoe said it best: the goal is for a team to finish .500 or better.
The Alcoa varsity returns all of last year's starters. The girl who is supposed to be a very good player (maybe the best?) who missed last season because of an injury is coming back also. The two guards are a force to be reckoned with, and the two sisters will be a big factor inside. This team should go far in the Ladies Classic.
Here's the bracket for this year's Lady Classic in Greeneville. Looking forward to seeing state champ Upperman once again and am especially pleased to see that potential state champ, Alcoa, will also be coming to town. Lots of other good programs to be represented!
December 27-31, 2022.
Thanks. I may be mistaken, but I thought the All-Tournament team was announced right after the championship game was concluded, as they do District, Regional, etc. At any rate, Burleson was who I was looking for. She is a fine player.
