  1. List the 3 Best Facilities your team has played at in the past 5 years, then name the 3 Worst Facilities your team has played at in the past 5 years. (If you want to name facilities you have seen but not played at that is fine also.) PLEASE JUST LIST 1A or 2A FOOTBALL FACILITIES ONLY, as I'm Just curious about who has some of the best and worst, but also interested to see how the facilities compare to the team records or performances the past 5 years.
  2. So can players play "TRAVEL" Football in the offseason like they do basketball, baseball, softball, etc.?
  3. Impressive...Does Davidson play Defense? Who is he being recruited by?
  4. Two very good match-ups this week in this region with possible play-off potential or seeding. Looks like Eagleville and Lewis are probably playing for the 2nd place spot (home field round 1 - or if lucky enough to beat CA 1st place)...either way looks like pretty much a game for home field in 1st round of play-offs. Then looks like Forrest and Summertown are possibly playing for a chance to finish 4th and travel to Waverly. Baring upsets in the region down the road. Who do you think will win these games this week and why? Eagleville vs Lewis Co and Forrest vs Summertown
  5. Summertown is better, but cornerback10 there is no way they score 35 on Forrest. I ate crow when they played Wayne County, but last year Forrest beat them bad, as GeneralAmerigha says, they looked like a junior high team and Forrest is better this year than last, so I could see the score being reversed cornerback10 with Forrest 35 and Stown 21 with a late score. Summertown unfortunately will drop 3 in a row before they win again, as they played CA and now Forrest then Lewis County. They are better than last year, just don't think they can beat CA (obviously didn't), Forrest, Lewis County, or Eagleville.
  6. I give props to Summertown for win last Friday didn't see that coming. Things are about to get a lot tougher for them, as they play CA, Forrest, and LC back to back to back. A lot people are ripping them for being excited. Heck if I was a 4 year program that went 1-9 last year, and beat WC, I'd be a little excited too. I know of several schools around that are happy just to be 1-1 right now. I've been around this area for a long time. I don't have a dog in the fight, but I can remember a lot of the other teams that are bashing Summertown for their facilities not having such great facilities many, many, many years ago. I read where most of their facilities have been done by private donations and nothing from the county or BOE. Like I said, I've been around long enough to remember Forrest before the new field, when they played on the tractor pull field and didn't have the dressing room that was built there. I remember CA parking on the hill before it was a parking lot, and people getting stuck there as well...lol. And way before they had the "AWESOME" new home side or even the visitor concession and bathroom. Wayne County when they played on their baseball outfield. So even though I have no ties to Summertown, I give them some props, as two years ago I remember when Richland went there, they dressed in Fireworks tents and concessions were in a utility shed. I haven't seen it, but someone told me they actually have locker rooms now with air, and a concession stand. Still have porta potty and of course still parking in grass, and no big bleachers, but if this is true, they have come a long way in three years if done by private citizens with no BOE help or County Money. Now as far as this region goes, I see it has CA winning the region by a 2 TD margin against everyone they play in the region "If" they can stay healthy. I believe Forest and LC will play for second and third. Eagleville will finish 4th but has the potential to possibly upset Forrest or LC. Community and Summertown are about equal at 5-6 but both 2 TD minimum below CA, Forrest, LC, and Eagleville. Loretto isn't real far behind both of them. A lot can happen with injuries, turnovers, etc on any given night, but just what I think.
  7. I agree that Wayne Co will be too physical for Summertown. Summertown is a little better, but still not good enough to compete with Wayne Co. Wayne Co will roll this week and win by 2 or 3 TD's. Wayne Co had some normal first game issues (few missed tackles and assignments) and still took care of a Loretto bunch that is better than last year. They won't have those issues tonight. Wayne Co will play "SMASH MOUTH" football tonight, like they did last year with Summertown. Last years game by halftime, Summertown was ready to load the bus.
  8. Hopefully Richland football is on its way back...been a while. We should be able to compete. We got some size and some skill coming back. Welcome Coach Patterson
  9. I apologize if it came across wrong. This person I talked to had nothing but GOOD things to say about Coach Patterson. Just said was a little possible turnover this year at LC in regards to coaches, and he said it was people moving up or closer to family, etc. Anyone who has coached for Sharp would definitely be a good one...kind of like a Saban, Meyer, etc. type background for HS coaches. From what he told me it would also be a HOME RUN hire. Like I said I apologize if my statement sounded bad, I may not have worded it in the best way.
  10. I asked someone in LC about Patterson and he said he had heard that Coach Sharpe and him were at odds right now. Didn't know what happened just said he hasn't been around football much according to his son. He said LC has had several coaching changes this past off-season...He said one took head job and took a coach with him and he thought another had taken assistant job at bigger high school in maybe Murfreesboro area.
  11. Heard they interviewed several candidates Sunday. Also heard was scheduled to interview NIck Patterson today. Anyone heard how any of the interviews went?
  12. Other people I've heard are the head coach at Spring Hill Middle School, as well as a DC from one of the High Schools in Clarksville. Anyone heard of anyone else. From what I hear they are interviewing the top candidates this Sunday.
  13. I was told one of the front runners was Nick Patterson the DC from Lewis County.
  14. Anyone heard any names that have applied for this job?
  15. Consultant, Can you honestly tell me that "No Athlete" at Columbia Academy is getting any financial help from anyone and that "EVERY" athlete is having his tuition paid for by parents who work a legitimate 9-5 job or jobs? I know you will have some whose parents may work an extra job to find the financial means to send them, but when it comes to that question, are ANY of them working these extra jobs for people who have ties to CA.
  16. "Staying Class A for them is not about avoiding competition." Then what exactly is it about? Just curious as to why they choose to stay D1 and not go to D2. I would just like for someone to explain it to me, because I just don't get the justification. Oh and CA playing 2A Football and beating much bigger schools is what we are talking about. You just mentioned it, so I will go with it. Geez...The Consultant. If you can beat all these 2A schools in football, and play all these 3A schools in baseball, how honestly do you expect these smaller MC schools that have chosen to boycott you to compete with you? MTP, Culleoka, Hampshire, etc. (I will guarantee you they couldn't beat them, heck several of them aren't even big enough to have a football program.) Yet you say work harder...you can train a mule or donkey all you want, with the best equipment, the best trainer, etc...but bottom line he will NEVER win the Kentucky Derby...You would have to get a stud horse to win it...AKA - Columbia Academy. (The kids they can draw in to the school from the entire area) They can "recruit" stud horses, or attract stud horses with their facilities, money, etc. I'm not saying they actually recruit like colleges do, I'm just saying they are able to attract a difference maker that a public school would just have to pretty much luck in to because his parents relocate. They don't have to play with the mule or donkeys their small schools have walking the hallways.
  17. The Consultant...never got reply so let me add a little more. #1 you said Facilities and fundraising - You say go out and raise it...How can PUBLIC schools like Richland, Mt Pleasant, Santa Fe, Culleoka, Summertown, Hampshire, Frank Hughes raise the money that a school like CA can...They don't have an "ANDERSON" to build a 5-10 million dollar facility. Heck most of these schools don't have a too many "major" businesses in their immediate area, let alone people who have money to give to build a big huge gym. As far as fundraising, most of them do plenty of it, most of them hit up the same small group of people, who live in communities that have the majority of their students on "free lunch programs" so their kids can get a decent meal. I would love to see the last time a kid at CA didn't have electricity in their house, or a hole in the roof, or multiple mattresses on the floor in one room to sleep on because they had more than one family in the same house because they couldn't afford it, etc. (I know not all kids are like this, but even if 25% of public school kids were in this situation, how can you even as a "Christian" school think the playing fields are even?) #2 you said AAU and camps - How many AAU teams played in the old gym? How many AAU teams would want to go to travel to Richland, Santa Fe, Culleoka, Summertown, Hampshire, Frank Hughes, to practice and use those facilities compared to using CA's in the middle of a pretty good size town? Granted some of your public coaches are lazy and wouldn't do it, but a lot of your small public schools don't even have full coaching staffs (Can't find enough coaches on staff to give stipends to, because those schools hire teachers that fit what they need or have open, not hire a coach and then let him teach Bible, PE, etc...if he even teaches at a private school) #3 you said Natural Rivals that are close...here are some locations and teams you played Football - Non Region (Nashville Christian, Lipscomb, FRA, and Spring Hill - 3 of 4 private) Basketball - (Middle Tn Ch, FRA, Grace, Goodpasture, Ezell, Madison Academy (AL), Lipscomb, Franklin Christian, Lighthouse Christian, Nashville Central Christian, Riverside Christian - 25 games and 13 Private and 12 Public - till tournament time) Baseball - Playing (Grace, BGA, Nash Ch, Mid TN Ch, Davidson Academy, Friendship, Donelson, Goodpasture and then Loretto, Summertown, Spring Hill, Lewis, Waverly, Cascade) If you Honestly look at it from these stand points, there is NO WAY a small public like the ones I mentioned at the beginning can compete year in year out with CA now. (They could maybe to some extreme BEFORE when CA enrollment was more like Zions, or before CA facilities became more of the typical private school facilities, etc.) Heck 10 to 15 years ago CA had never won a football region, and then all of a sudden, they start going DEEP into the A play-offs then the AA-play-offs. In Basketball they had a good year or two, but all of a sudden they are winning region and district Championships year after year, same for baseball, softball, tennis, boys and girls soccer. If you believe it is equal between public and private schools and it's just because your kids work harder, then PLEASE explain how you do it...we want to model it at our small PUBLIC school. (Heck I might even sell the formula to other public schools in the US and make enough for our little public school to build a new stadium/gym like CA has...)
  18. The Consultant...I would say 98-99% of the kids who have played sports at Columbia Academy were legal (as per TSSAA - but they were on work study or parents were given jobs on campus to do things so their kids could attend there which WAS legal at the time) The exception would be probably the 1997 basketball kids, and I would say some kids in football, softball, and basketball since then that make up the other 1-2% are kids who legally meet TSSAA requirements that their parents / legal guardians make the payments...but...I would say they got money from people associated with the school in some capacity - alumni, boosters, own kids playing on team, etc that "GAVE" or made available the money for them to attend the school and the administration either didn't know about it, or they just never questioned how they could pay their tuition based on income. I would also say, having one of the best facilities in 1A and 2A doesn't hurt either. (Very, very, very nice) They haven't always been like that, and I would say there is some correlation between their facilities and their recent success. (They were so far behind a lot of the other private schools, and I would say they wouldn't stand out as much against other private schools if they were in DII as much as they do against 1A schools in DI.) The other reason they have had some recent success (within past 10 years) is the recruiting that was done by so many elementary parents to get kids there at the Elementary Level in football. By the way thinks it is interesting that one of them is now a varsity assistant at Columbia Academy. Also, think interesting they wouldn't join the middle school association, and had a player that was ruled ineligible this year because he repeated a middle school grade at CA that had no bearing on him in Middle School, but thankfully the TSSAA caught it when they could had control of the situation when he moved up to TSSAA. And he is a STUD!!! Just my opinion and I would bet you that 95-99% of the students there that are playing sports are doing it legally as far as financially...but there is NO WAY 100% of the athletes parents are paying tuition solely from income they earn and nobody is helping them in any way.
