  1. It's not BS. They were letting they play clock run down before snapping the ball in the 1st half.
  2. I don't look for Coalfield to lay down like they did in the first game. I felt like they were just trying not to get blown out the first time by milking the clock and hardly throwing the ball.
  3. Geeeeeeze! How can it only be Tuesday???????? Friday night can't get here fast enough. Been waiting all year to see 22 play in person! Interested to see how coach uses him!
  4. Does it not seem wrong to anyone else that Unaka is ban from post season play and will be playing a game this weekend??? While Greenback has another week off. I understand the Careacter Bowl is for a good cause but don't believe that a team that is banned from postseason play should be able to participate. Was shocked when I heard this on the radio this afternoon.
  5. I agree. That's when the coach has to make the decision not to have spring practice. There was only a couple for us that played both sports but we typically only missed a couple days of practice.
  6. Our baseball players never participated in spring practice until baseball season was over.
  7. Good point! Very important for a new coach to get an ideal of what he's got. They need to let the individual schools determine whether they need it or not.
  8. He was definitely a good one. He was hard to tackle when you could catch him!
  9. I got ya. I was looking at 2017. Times were faster in 2018. Elijah Young with South Doyle ran a 10.70 and came in fourth in the D-1 Large classification and the winner was Markeese Shufford running a 10.49 at West Creek and he was a junior. It'll be interesting to see what he does this year!
  10. I played at South Young 82 thru 85. Graduated in 86.
  11. I had heard that Elijah Howard with Webb-Knox was the fastest so I looked it up on the TSSAA site and it turns out for 2017 anyhow the fastest boy was Michael Scruggs at Riverdale with 10.97 second 100 meter. Kevin Davis placed 7th in A-AA class with a 11.49 second 100 meter. Elijah Howard turned in a 11.22 second run at the state championship. I know it's not always an individual's best time at state as it depends on the environment, the weather, etc. I have seen Elijah in person and that guy is as fast as any that I have seen. He had a 10.79 second at the KIL championship and that is closing in on a state record and that was his freshman year. He reminds me of Willie Lundy who I played against in the mid 80's and he ran 10.5 second 100 meter.
  12. Thanks. He is starting to get the hang of playing linebacker. He's always played DE before. The competition is great to have, seems like each guy tries to make as much of his opportunity as he can.
  13. I agree that 4.5 is extremely fast and wasn't saying he was that fast but he is one that I think some times gets overlooked but has had several big plays on offense this year.
  14. How fast is #26. He has had 3 or 4 very long TD catches on that screen pass and he looks fast from the stands for sure.
  15. I understand they have also contacted Friendship Christian in case something can't be worked out with ND. Looks like Notre Dame is the better team and would be a better match up. Notre Dame runs the heck out of the ball. I watched one recap and they had 300+ yards rushing and 5 yards passing.
  16. The original post did ask about best kicker, back and lineman.....
  17. Looks like that would be a good match up. They don't have a game and would have played only 9 games also. Wonder where they would play if they got it worked out?
  18. I agree with Central having the edge in the trenches but I believe SD has the better skill players. I won't be shocked either way it goes but I'm picking SD in a close one. Very evenly matched but I believe SD has the edge on the sideline with their coach!
  19. I know you mean #22 (#24 last year) and he is definitely ready to get after it. He hoped to be back for the Grace game but looking like the Midway game at this point. He's a great young man and ready to get out there and help his team!
  20. OK. I'm not a veteran poster on here but it seems like you think I'm saying GB's OL is as good as Alcoa's but that is not the case. I told my wife when we saw Alcoa at the jamboree this year that I would be shocked if there was a team in the state of TN that could beat them. I also picked them to beat Maryville when they played. What I'm trying to say is that GB's line is dominating these 1A teams that we're playing and from the film I've seen on the upcoming teams they aren't much better. 60 yards on 9 carries in the first game after only 3 practices with team. He'll be more involved next week but even at 60 yards a game that would be 540 yards after 9 games. On his TD run I believe everyone of Coalfield's players hit him and he just kept going. I know that is not going to happen against some of the schools that Alcoa has played like Maryville and Dobyns Bennett. Maybe I'm delusional and maybe misunderstood but we'll see how it goes but I can see him racking up a lot of yards if he stays healthy. He's neither better or worse on either team really he is who he is but I believe he will shine more playing 1A teams,
  21. Yes, I read and understood it and I believe he'll be better at Greenback. We're not playing against the same competition in 1A. He had 700+ yards last year with Alcoa and I believe he'll surpass that mark in just the second half of the season assuming GB plays for the title and he stays healthy.
  22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXIVoGCj-1A I know I should just let this thread die but when I saw this comment I couldn't let it go. Watch the video here and I think you'll see that he will do very well behind the GB line. Another thing to think about is that there is only one senior on the line in this play. 53 and 54 clear the middle out and 55 and 24 get the linebackers. Watch at the end and 26 was ready to block on down field. 50 and 52 blocked well also turning their guys out. These young men play hard for one another.
  23. Good point! Although I don't think the rotation will change other than putting #17 back at receiver and inserting new guy in to that slot. Coaches do a good job of rotating players and trying to keep fresh legs on the field.
