  1. I'm really looking forward to this game! Could be the best first round game in single A
  2. On the Upper East Tennessee teams at state topic, Greeneville was a AAA semifinalist in 2001.
  3. Everybody said that North Greene was the worst team in the tourney last year and they made it to the championship game. This Cloudland team is significantly better than North Greene was last year. So, I'd say Clay County is a very good draw for them. Go Cloudland! represent upper east tennessee.
  4. Science Hill @ Greeneville = Greeneville Chuckey Doak @ Unaka = Chuckey-Doak South Greene @ Unicoi Co = Unicoi County Cherokee @ West Greene = West Greene Grainger @ Union Co = Grainger Claiborne @ Cocke Co = Cocke County Wartburg Central @ Cumberland Gap = Cumberland Gap
  5. So, you're going to let 3 or 4 fans make you pull against a team. I guess I understand. Dobyns-Bennett had a couple of posters this year that made me want to pull against them, but you have to remember that a couple of posters on a message board don't make an entire fanbase. I'm not one of these people that thinks that Greeneville is the greatest team ever, but that being said I think that they win this game somewhere in the neighborhood of 56 to 21.
  6. Maybe this guy can't use periods correctly, but Greeneville city schools is one of the best school districts in the state so I wouldn't say anything about Greeneville's academics if I were you.
  7. When you have been to the state tournament 26 times (like South Greene) it's tough to get the fans as excited about first round games. They will show up more the further they stay in the tourney.
  8. After watching what South Greene did to Polk County earlier today, I am giving Greeneville the nod in this one in a tight, low-scoring game. I'll go with GHS 40, MCHS 38.
  9. As a South Greene fan I have to admit that Gibson County is the better team and should be favored. With that being said I do give SG a punchers chance as they say. The experience of playing Gibson Co. in the semi's last year should help and I think that SG will make it more competitive than last year at the very least. (Especially if Butler doesn't get any more help from her teammates than she did today.)
  10. The German girl for Polk could really play. I was very impressed with her. Brandi Crum for South Greene really played well today as well. I also thought that Maelyn Cutshaw was very impressive as a freshman for SG. She seemed very composed and didn't let the big stage get to her. Good luck SG in the next round against Gibson County!
  11. Size is definitely Greeneville's strength. Their starting wings are both about 5'10'' and their inside players stand 5'10" and 6'0". They like to throw it inside to the post who can then either score inside or kick it out for a 3.
  12. I hope that this game is not tightly officiated and that they let the girls play. South Greene usually only plays 6 players and I think I remember hearing that Polk County doesn't play many either? If either team has to go to the bench a lot it could really affect the outcome.
  13. Greeneville is a slow it down half court type team. Probably not unlike what McMinn Central has seen with Polk County. Greeneville's post play is the strength of the team but the guards are ok as well. The only problem now is that their starting PG has a broken left hand. She played some in the sub-state game with it but she's certainly not at 100%. I'm afraid that this might be the deciding factor in the game if Greeneville has a lot of turnovers.
  14. I think that South Greene would do ok in a slow down game. That's what Greeneville has done to them in 4 games this year and South Greene has won 3 of those, only losing the 1st meeting of the season at Greeneville. Obviously though, South Greene would prefer to get out and run and get the game in the 60's or 70's. I'm hoping that South Greene's experience in the state tourney from last year will put them over the top in this game and set up a probable rematch with Gibson County!
  15. Greeneville has a great program. In fact am I right that Greene County has 3 teams in that made it to the state in women's bball? If so that is pretty awesome. Yes, that's right. Greene County has North Greene in Single A and Greeneville and South Greene in AA this year. That's definitely a first for Greene County.
  16. Greeneville girls were runner-up in golf, made the final four in soccer, and are now in the state tourney in basketball. Granted, they do have way more than 20 girls in the senior class, lol.
  17. If Polk County likes to slow the game down then lets hope that they aren't matched up with Greeneville in the first round cause that's what Greeneville does as well. That game might be unwatchable from an entertainment stand point. It could seriously end up like 25 to 24 or something.
  18. That's funny that 6 of the 8 teams to make the state tourney come from 3 districts. Gibson County and Westview are from the same district. McMinn Central and Polk County. And Greeneville and South Greene. Funny how that works some times I guess.
  19. I can't believe that 3 Greene County teams are going to Murfreesboro! Nice job North Greene and South Greene in your blowout victories and congrats to Greeneville for pulling out a gutsy OT win!
  20. Greeneville beat CAK in 2 OT and South Greene beat Austin-East 68-49
  21. Good luck tonight to South Greene and Greeneville! Represent Greene county well!!
  22. I agree NE15, the officiating was way over the top. You've got to let players decide the game, especially in a regional championship. That being said, congrats to South Greene on the win and hopefully Greeneville and South Greene will both win on Saturday and get to Murfreesboro.
  23. I don't really know much about CAK or Austin-East, but I have to think that South Greene will be very tough to beat at home with the kind of crowd that will turn up for a sub-state game. Greeneville will probably have their hands full going on the road to CAK, but they have won sub-state games on the road before so hopefully they can pull it off again. I'm hoping that both of them as well as North Greene in single A can all win and give Greene county 3 teams in Murfreesboro.
  24. South Greene beat Wilson Central in the nightcap by about 20. So, now the semi's are set with South Greene vs. Cocke County and Cosby, VA vs. Mt. Juliet. I think it will take a pretty big upset for Mt. Juliet not to win this. That's not a dis to the other 3 teams, it's just I think Mt. Juliet is really that good.
