  1. Pretty sure Eagleville has PG and #24 back next year. Only graduate 3. But they were starters.
  2. Pickett struggled, by their standards, against Trousdale twice late in the year and almost got beat by Eagleville. The common denominator is they both played predominantly 2-3 zone. Outside of #11, they didn’t show the ability to consistently stretch the floor against the zone. #24 struggled against the length of Eagleville’s post players at times and was reluctant to shoot it outside of 15 feet, although she did hit 1 long jumper. Eagleville only turned it over 10ish times and was able to keep the game largely in the half court. I think the key is limiting turnovers against Pickett’s pressure that turn into transition buckets and trying to contain their tempo. I do think this game will be really entertaining. Two really good coaches and two really good teams playing with a lot on the line.
  3. That looks like a great draw to me. Should be a tournament.
  4. I think Eagleville graduates 3. Don’t think anyone else graduates many. Huntland’s season ended earlier than some expected but I believe they have almost all of their major pieces back.
  5. Looking forward to the draw. I think the single A tourney will be the most entertaining classification to watch this year. I bet money at least 1 of the “favorites” will be sent him on day 1 due to the draw. As a long time ‘Boro resident, I hope everyone has safe travels.
  6. Winning the region championship game so important. Playing at home on a short turn around helps tremendously. Local newspaper guy posted the final stats for both teams. Almost identical FG%, FT %, rebounds and turnovers.
  7. Pickett will pressure the ball the entire game. Full court and half. Play with a lot of tempo on both sides of the ball. At least that’s how they have played for the last 10 or so years that I’ve seen them.
  8. I would guess that both teams, Eagleville and Moore County, have a very healthy respect for both of their opponents. Reading these boards is pretty funny sometimes. I would say most of the people discussing these games have the least amount invested in them. I guarantee 4 coaches spent the better part of 2 days preparing their team for this game. There are never any free passes. I hope all four teams compete their guts out and and stay healthy on the court and their travels. There are many teams and players across the state that never get an opportunity to compete in a sectional game, much less a state tournament.
  9. Only 15? I figured the UCSportsFan line would be closer to 27.5....
  10. It’s the 4th matchup of the year and the 8th over the course of the last 2 seasons. Both sides are very familiar with each other and know exactly what needs to be done to win. I expect a close slugfest of a game. Should be a good one.
  11. I saw where he scored 45 last night on like 19-24 shooting. I would say he’s back.
  12. Was shocked at the margin in the Eagleville/Huntland game. It seems like Eagleville pounced in the second quarter behind some hot shooting and Huntland got a little shell shocked.
  13. On paper he is right 100% of the time. On the court he is probably right 95% of the time. I would be shocked if both Pickett and Clarkrange aren’t in the final 8. Hosting the Substate game is so important. It at least gives you a puncher’s chance every now and again.
  14. Cornersville would have won 7A this year and their Freshman point guard would be the best player in the district.
  15. Are you implying a coaching change is being made or is this just a general question about the program’s ability to compete in the future?
  16. Huntland is the favorite until someone proves otherwise. Being at home helps tremendously. I think Cascade beats F. City and Eagleville beats Cornersville.
  17. Well looking at common opponents, Eagleville squeaked by a Gordonsville team who looks like they finished 5th in that district by 2 at home last night. Huntland got handled at home by Whitwell by 25 on Thursday. Pickett beat Whitwell by 18 earlier in the year in a pretty high scoring game. Whitwell looks to be the only team in their district that can compete in a Region tournament against Clarkrange, Pickett, Clay, and RBS. It’s never a guarantee but I just don’t think 8A will have a representative in the state tournament this year.
  18. Going to say Eagleville in a close one. Mostly because they are at home.
  19. To me it appeared that the 3/4 court trap stuff was fairly ineffective last night. Once they got out of it, they pretty much packed the paint against Eagleville’s post players and Eagleville were still only able to muster maybe 2-3 3 pointers. Neither team shot it well and the the margin of victory was pretty much at the FT line.
  20. It will be a tall task. With that being said, if you go back to last season in this same thread, no one was giving Eagleville a shot to beat Clay County in a Substate game. Huntland has the best guard play in 8A by a mile and they are the deepest team. Can the same be said when they match up with Pickett and Clarkrange? That is yet to be seen.
