  1. In 2015, Meigs played in possibly the toughest region in 2A or 1A. Marion Co. in 2015 was one of the best football teams I’ve ever seen play. Boyd, tyner, and Bledsoe were all really good that year as well. It was Fitzgerald’s second year at Meigs and had to play a quarterback who wasn’t good. Swafford is the best player in the area. No doubt. But saying our team is just “average” without him is crazy. And using the logic of “Meigs wasn’t good before Swafford based off their record, so I doubt they’re any good if he’s not on the team this year” isn’t too smart of a logic. Heck, Fitzgerald’s first year in 2014 was pretty good after they got a few games under their belt.
  2. Where are all the etowah fans? They’ve been on these boards all off season and during season, but now they’re nowhere to be found.
  3. Go Tigers!!! Always a good time when Meigs and Etowah meet up in any sport, especially football.
  4. Hoping for a MC Tiger W tonight!!! Did not catch the middle school game last night, but they have been scoring some points all year long. Terrible that the QB got hurt (great athlete), but the offense seemed like it didn’t miss a beat. Props to whoever the OC is.
  5. I have no knowledge of any of these teams except Rhea. Not sure how good they will be this year with a new coach, but they do have the best player in the district, Mallory Hampton!!!
  6. Meigs scrimmaged both teams. Loudon BIG in this one.
  7. I don’t know a thing about Rockwood other than they bring back their QB from the last few years. We will win by a couple scores, and hopefully both teams come out of the game with no injuries.
  8. As much as you roam around this board, I’d say you would have time for social media if you wanted it. Lol!! Just kidding of course
  9. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but there is no story. I grew up in the time where Meigs and etowah was a really big rivalry in all sports. We did not like each other. So, I call you etowah. The rivalry isn’t as big now in any sports (except maybe boys and girls b-ball, it’s competitive) because Meigs thrashes etowah in just about everything, so I can see why it’s not as big to you.
  10. I do not like the school in your area, so I call it Etowah. I can’t speak for Mars, but it’s pretty simple for me.
  11. Unfortunately I believe Etowah will pick up the win. Polk seems to be horrible.
  12. Good win for Sweetwater. As a Meigs County fan, I always find myself rooting for two teams every week: Meigs and whoever Etowah is playing. Lots of respect for Coach Davis, though.
  13. Now this is something I can get behind. Go Tigers and go cats!
  14. Zy had a great senior year (16) running the ball in his only season as RB. Martin ran very timid his junior year (17) in my opinion. We saw flashes towards the end of that season against some really bad teams. Unfortunately, Martin was hurt most of his senior year (18). He was really, really good in the 3 games he got to play, But he hardly played. I guess I would take a healthy Martin, and put Zy at WR lol. The sample size from martins jr year would 100% suggest Zy, however. I agree with you in that 16 would get beat, but that team had some really, really good skill players. It’s fun to think about. I am new to the board and enjoy reading your perspective.
  15. The 16 team played a lot of good teams. Marion (way better than they are now), Boyd, Tyner, Oneida, Central, Sweetwater, Bledsoe, and Forrest were all decent to great (Marion). In reality, we should have won the Forrest game. The line play on 17 and 18 were much better, but the skill position advantage goes to 16. Zy Moore and Jesse Rayl types don't come around often. 17, 18, 19 teams are better but it would not be a mercy rule.
  16. I believe a post above elaborated on this, but he played about 120 snaps. The only sign of "hurt" that I noticed was after he gashed GB's defense for another 80yard touchdown, it got called back, and had to walk back the length of the field for another play. I believe that was just him being tired and not "hurt." Admittedly, I have not seen Peabody play or watched any film on them, and to be honest, I don't really want to. I have better things to do. However, if Meigs improves enough to *maybe* have a chance at them in Cookeville, I think you will be surprised. We have a lot of work to do before we can think about that though.
  17. This is not a slight to any defenses that have been mentioned above (Peabody has been the topic), but I truly do not believe that any D can "shut down" Aaron Swafford. Can a defense slow him down? Maybe for a half, but great ballplayers normally make plays when it counts. Aaron has proved time and time again that he will make plays that win ballgames. Also, the top ten ranking is horrible.
  18. Aaron Swafford continues to prove he is one of the best players in the state on both sides of the ball, regardless of classification.
  19. Aaron Swafford was recruited by Louisville and Arkansas to play safety for them. This talk that he could stand no chance one on one with willis is crazy. Swafford is very physical on D, so I would not doubt for one second that he would just jam him at the line. If not, I would still take my chances with our Mr. Football. Willis is good, but swafford just as much of an athlete on D than he is on O. I think you will see that tonight.
