  1. Gibson Co by 6 Bolivar by 15 Southside by 2 Don't know anything about Lexington or Chester Co Crockett by 8 (This game is tonight Feb 9)
  2. Agree!! I believe each night will be a battle. I don't think there is much separation between the 4.
  3. District play gets started this Friday night with DC vs Dyersburg and Obion Co vs Crockett Co. All 4 has had success so far in non-district play, as I believe they all have impressive records. Does any of them have what it takes to make a deep run in tournament play and potentially have a shot to make it to Murfreesboro?
  4. Still a year away from being serious threat! A long year to continue improving, but didn't put up a good showing against South Gibson. Agreed that they are improved from last year.
  5. I agree with both of you. Dyersburg is healthier this time around and will want to prove they can play better against Covington the second time around. The regular season game may have been the worse game in Dyersburg history. To not get atleast one first down is unheard of. Covington is better than Dyersburg, but come on, not 1 first down. I expect Dyersburg to play much better this time, but it still won't be enough.
  6. No shock that Ripley won. The statement above was against someone saying that no matter who the coach was at Dburg the last few years they wouldn't have won the tourney games they were put out in. I was at both Ripley games so I know the games were tight. What i'm saying is, Ripley was beatable in the region game a year ago.
  7. No hype built sir! Everybody on here pretty much agree with you.
  8. Agree... Dburg is a year away from competing with Covington.
  9. This looks like a safe pick. In addition to Dburgs inexperience they are banged up right now as most teams are this time of the season but dburg really can't absorb that this season. Dburgs inability to create any offense against formidable competition leaves the defense out on the field to much and they wear down. That's part of why they are giving up 37.7 points per game although those 3 losses were to Munford, Trenton, and Covington, who are all expected to make deep runs in the upcoming playoffs in their respective classes. They were competitive for a quarter to quarter in half in two of those games, but once teams figure out the three plays that Dburg runs they adjust to it and then it's all bad. Should be a good game as Dburg matches up better with Millington than the 3 teams I just named. Just have to figure out a way to be more efficient on offense.
  10. As for this game between Covington and Dburg, I think Dburg will keep it close for a quarter or so then Covington wears them down and runs off in the second half to win by 3 scores. That seems to be the pattern for Dburg this year against formidable opponents. Good first quarter, then down hill from there.
  11. Agree Tomcatfan... Dyersburg is a year away from competing in these types of games, but maybe two years away form being very good. A bunch of young talent, but inexperienced at the high school level. Playing some freshmen and sophomores in many of the key positions. With that being said, I'm going to beat a dead horse again. I have been saying for years that the offense at Dburg is too basic with no creativity. I know that hurts some feelings on here when I talk about this. There was alot of grumbling in the stands about the lack of creativity Friday night. Many saying "here we go, sweep right, sweep left, up the middle then punt. I'm not saying Stowe is in trouble or anything, but I don't feel that he maximizes his talent the way he could. Just my thoughts!!
  12. Agree Trojan. Last year was the matchup everyone wanted to see. I think Peabody wins easily.
  13. Unfortunately for me, it will be a long season for Dburg this season. I just hope the kids improve week in and week out and fight till the end holding their heads up high. As for this game, I'm not expecting it to be close. Munford should roll!
  14. From what I understand from him, he will be playing this year but i'm not 100% sure on that. He sat out the whole season last year and never played B Ball at DC.
  15. Could not have said it better is what I meant
  16. Could've said it better Volwalk!
  17. There doesn't seem to be much buzz around this game. Both teams seem to be down judging from the pre season into week one. I know Dburg is very young this year, so a bit of a down turn was expected this year. Graduated a ton of talent off last year's roster and the youngsters this year didn't see much real game action last year. This is typical in alot of rural areas, where there's a class that comes through that is special and then there's a drop off for a year or two until the next class is up to speed. And I say alot of rural areas, not all. Haywood, Covington, Henry Co, & Milan's of the world reload every year :)... I don't know much about DC this year other than Taylor is supposed to be a stud. I'm not sure how much else they have, but from what I hear the defense is very suspect. All that said, it should be a great atmosphere tomorrow night as it always is when these two get together in any sport. I'm glad they are back playing each other in all sports. Good for the kids and great for the community.
  18. I was very impressed with Munford at the Dburg Jamboree Friday night. They have a good looking squad!
  19. If there is a year for Ripley to move past Dyersburg, it's this year. Dyersburg will be very young this year and will suffer through some growing pains.
