  1. When we (Fayetteville City) went to Lake Co in the semifinals, they had several really good players that are coming back. I think they will be a top 5 team, but I don’t think they can beat Peabody. I think Fayetteville will be strong again. Moore Co lost a lot. It will be interesting to see if they can recreate last year’s success with the coaches son being their best player. I assume McKenzie might be the second best team in 1A but definitely top five. South Pitt is still South Pitt. Until someone beats Peabody, they are #1, then the next 4 (in no particular order) are South Pitt, McKenzie, Fayetteville City and Lake Co. Moore Co and Eagleville could surprise some people. Hope to see Peabody live for the first time against Milan.
  2. I think she is coming from a high school in Georgia. I saw her coaching travel ball for EAB last year. She seems like a tough young coach who knows her stuff. The girls all really liked her and responded well to her. I think she will do great at Riverdale.
  3. 1. Page 2. Nolensville 3/4. Lincoln Co/Columbia 5/6. Franklin Co/ Spring Hill
  4. Either way, I think it will be hard to gauge what the Memphis teams will bring to the table. Poll looks like a good stating point. I think I would flip flop SP and Lake Co and move Gordy up. It will be interesting to see if Moore Co can duplicate this year’s success with their new system. If so, they could make a run at the top 5.
  5. I thought Freedom Prep was moving to 2A...I could be wrong though.
  6. Region 5A has been considered the toughest top to bottom region in single A the last several years. Region 5A has represented the west 3 of the last 4 years in the championship game. Moore Co was top 5 all year and only 2 losses were to Fayetteville. Region 5A lost the worst 2 teams in Richland and Mt Pleasant and replaced them with Eagleville, Wayne Co, and Collinwood who are all better. So what has been the toughest region just got tougher and our non region games are: Watertown is a 2A school that was 11-2 last year. Red Bank is 3A that was 10-1 last year. Only loss was Alcoa. Lewis Co is 2A and was 11-1 last year. Upperman is 4A and was 7-4 last year. Can you tell me where the cupcakes are? I’m not saying we have the toughest schedule in single A but I would say that one is pretty tough. Can you name someone in single who has a tougher 10 games in single A next year?
  7. Real tough. But I love the mentality of making that kind of schedule. Morson is not afraid of lining our boys up with anyone IMO. Might not win them all but it will take those kind of games if we want to be ready for the west bracket in the playoffs. And I think the attitude of we aren’t afraid of big time competition flows down to the players. I think you have seen that in how they have responded to him from day 1.
  8. I don’t know any details on how they did the scheduling. I just saw where they had posted it on the 21 team page. I know SP didn’t like how things went down with the cancellation of the Marion game and I understand that. I will say that I had nothing but good experiences with the Marion Co folks the last 2 years. It will be nice to see some different stadiums though and I think we are replacing them with possibly tougher teams.
  9. Don’t know much about the non region opponents, but I think they were all good last year. Seems like a strong schedule when you add them to a tough region 5A.
  10. 8/20 Watertown 8/27 @ Lewis County 9/3 Wayne County* 9/10 Upperman 9/17 @ Moore County* 9/24 Collinwood* 10/1 @ Cornersville* 10/15 @ Red Bank 10/22 @ Huntland* 10/29 Eagleville* * - region game
  11. Correct...the kid moved into the area we serviced so we would have picked him up if he needed a ride. He didn’t so we didn’t go to his house. We don’t make it a practice to drive by every single house in the area we serve if there is not someone who needs a ride. This is a serious question...if y’all have 25 streets that fall inside of your territory but there are no students that need a ride on those streets, do you tell your bus drivers to just go ride up and down them so you can say there is a bus route there? I don’t know any school system that does that.
  12. False again if you are talking about our policy. It gives the area we serve. The bus route issue is solely from the TSSAA.
  13. False. The kids address was in the territory the school board set years ago. The issue was that a bus didn’t run by his house.
  14. The school...but they don’t drive buses down roads that don’t have kids needing a ride. In the Fayetteville situation, the kid in question was the only student on that road (inside the school board defined zone) and he was 17. He had his own car and drove himself to school so there was no need to run a bus down that road for nothing. Fayetteville said if he needed to ride the bus, they would have picked him up. Does your school system drive all of their buses down every single road in your school zone whether there are kids to pick up or not?
  15. Similar talent but different style of the one who went to Notre Dame. Just as good IMO. Watched her effortlessly score 30+ earlier this year.
  16. Not sure what you mean by school board policy. The problem is that TSSAA defines territory as the area identified by the school board AND where the buses run. If there are no buses running in front of your house, even if it is in the are defined by the school board... heck, even if you can see the school from your house, you aren’t in the new school’s territory and aren’t eligible.
  17. I agree with you it is the school’s job to know all of the rules and do their best to follow them to the letter. If there is any question, TSSAA is open to clear up confusion. I can’t argue against the punishment even though I am a Fayetteville fan and didn’t like it. Here is where it gets tricky making bus route part of the requirement for boundary purposes. I will make up a scenario and use Peabody in the example. Let’s say a kid moves into the Peabody school zone. Let’s say he is less than a mile from the school. There is not a bus that runs by his house because no one on that road has a kid that needs to ride the bus. He doesn’t need the bus because he is 17 and has a car. So per the TSSAA, he is not in the Peabody school district because he must live in the Peabody school board’s defined zone AND a Peabody bus must go by his house, whether he needs it or not. Let’s look at another scenario and use Moore County as the example. Let’s say a kid moves from Tullahoma into a remote part of Moore County. No buses run down his road because he is the only house on it and his parents drive him to school. Per TSSAA, this kid is not in the Moore County district because even though he is living in an area defined by Moore County’s school board, there is not a bus running by his house. Also, let’s assume the TSSAA has looked into this kids address and paperwork twice and both times said he was eligible. Later another person at the TSSAA gets in charge due to the first approver being on medical leave and reverses the decision after games have been played and knocks your team out of the playoffs. This is essentially what happened to Fayetteville last year.
  18. Don’t know much about the new additions to the region so my guess of finish for those who remain is: 1. City - they have enough coming back they should repeat 2. Moore Co - they lost a lot but I am told they have some underclassmen who can play. Not sure who will be playing QB in their spread. I am guessing the coach’s son eventually winds up there. Only thing that is a question mark for me is their line. If they have a good line, I think they can be solid in the 2 spot. 3. Cornersville - talented but probably not enough to take a top 2 spot 4. Huntland - not sure what they have besides Johnson. And based on the way they struggled when Stewart was out, they may be in trouble. Would love to hear how Eagleville, Wayne and Collinwood will stack up from someone who knows.

    District 8-A

They’ll be fine. Huntland has the most talent and depth in 8A. Their record is deceiving. Tullahoma is a good 3A school and Community is a good 2A when healthy. Who is out for Huntland other than Riley?
  20. I agree with you on the risk of injury not being a factor. LC might have more players but I would argue the top ones at City are probably stronger and faster. I would be surprised if they play in any sport in the near future. As you said, LC has refused to play City for many years out of spite. The LC administration has also tried to burn City with false accusations for years. That isn’t exactly the way to mend fences.
  21. I would have picked Frame before the championship game, based on his numbers and the film I saw from this year. But if I am basing it on who was harder to stop, it would definitely be Parker. They are both great runners, but Parker threw the ball really well and probably did more with less. Frame did play both ways though and was really good at CB in the championship game. Both kids are deserving. I couldn’t argue against either one. When do they announce winner?
  22. I don’t know that much about the 2A teams but which class do you think will be tougher to win the next 2 years...1A or 2A?
  23. 100% on the money. Great game, great kids, great coaches. First Moore Co/City game was the best game I had ever seen. This one bumped it to #2.
